Film Review: ‘Metallica Through The Never’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 4th, 2013

Donna W., Here…..

Metallica: Through the Never announces itself as an explosive, visceral experience from the very first scene: an overhead helicopter shot of the city, riding high over a thoroughfare that leads us to the stadium, coming down to ground level, glimpsing a fan or two, then following a young skater kid down to the depths of the arena where he begins an unforgettable night as roadie for the band. This sequence is so chock-full of filmmaking prowess that one instantly realizes we’re in for a ride of visual delights. The film lives up to that opening sequence and then some.

Metallica to Put Out Feature Film!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 30th, 2011

Metallica hasn’t hit the screen scene for a few years, but they’re back now and bigger than ever – and in 3D. The band is self-financing the project and has hired Charlotte Huggins (Journey to the Center of the Earth) to produce. I have to say that Journey has been my fave 3D movie effects-wise so far, so I’m excited to see what Huggins can do for one of my favorite bands.

First off, I think it is amazing the band Metallica is still around.  They really haven’t had a great album since Master of Puppets or the Black Album.  It is also beyond me that Metallica still has fans with what happened when Metallica went after all of their fans who spent their hard earned money on every album and concert and try to sue all of their fans for downloading their music for free.  I think Metallica can be a great cover band, but that’s about it.

Anywho, Lars Ulrich of Metallica told Classic Rock Magazine that Metallica is toying with the idea of bringing the biggest concert of all time to the states.  It would bring the four BIG bands together for a tour which are: Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax, and Megadeath.  Supposedly all the bands are in for it except for Metallica at the moment.

Ulrich said, “The vibe on this thing is so big, we’d be stupid to ignore it. You know on your iPhone, you can move the weather maps up and down? Well, the ‘Big Four’ is quickly moving up to the top in terms of potential occurrences for the next couple of years.”

I do not think that quote makes any kind of coherent sense.

Are these really the four BIG BANDS?  According to who?

How about a concert with Iron Maiden, Rob Zombie, AC/DC, and Black Sabbath?  Now that would be great.

Metallica guitarist, Kirk Hammett was in Dallas ‘promoting’ the band’s latest film, “Through the Never” at AMC North Park (27 Sept. 2013). Shot on the ‘Super8’ app. In all honesty, I can’t tell if he was drunk or stoned here. In any case, here is the short footage we caught of him. Enjoy.
