Film Review: ‘Happy Death Day’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 12th, 2017

Written By: Fernando Martinez

Ok, let me start off by saying that “Happy Death Day” is not a great movie., although there are a lot of great things about it.  However, given the genre, I had a fantastic time watching it.  Although it feels more like an extended episode of whatever show is on the CW now, this horror/drama/comedy packs its fair share of good fun.

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 31st, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

prince-batdance

Prince is coming back in a big way very shortly. After years and years of shitting all over the internet and streaming services, Prince finally joined the world and accepted that his music should be available online, and not just vinyl, cassette, and CD. Prince must have come across PornHub and thought, “this is the wave of the future.” Next thing you know, we have ‘Batdance‘ online, and that was as recent as 2015.

Film Review: ‘A Most Violent Year’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 21st, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

amvy_day6-219.CR2

By the title alone, you’d think this was in fact ‘A Most Violent Year‘ or a very violent movie. However, that is not exactly the case here. In fact, it’s far from it. J.C. Chandor’s screenplay and film is a very slow burn that tells a story of the seedy underbelly of competing heating oil suppliers in 1981 New York City. The reason for the film’s title is that 1981 was considered New York City’s most violent year on record.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Few authors can raise the hackles on the back of our necks from just hearing their name, but Stephen King is in a category of his own. He’s scared the crap out of us since ‘Carrie‘ in 1976 and hasn’t stopped since. While we have a huge number of excellent films based on King’s works, sometimes his vision is incredibly detailed and hard to adapt to celluloid with the same scale of awe inspiring affect. Several filmmakers have seen this to be achingly true, just look at how difficult ‘The Dark Tower‘ has been for production. Hopefully, we will see that one brought to fruition soon. In the meantime, another volume from King has successfully made the jump from awesome idea to completed film.

FILM REVIEW: “THE POSSESSION OF MICHAEL KING”

by Justin Cline on Aug 20th, 2014

It takes a lot for a horror film to scare me. But the thought of sitting through The Possession of Michael King a second time does just that. Make no mistake. I do not come to praise this movie. I come to bury it.

by Red Zeppelbon on Jul 9th, 2014

Hey kids, Jana here,

big_harold-and-kumar-youtube01

Big news today comes from a tiny little blip on the Twitter screen. If you weren’t paying attention, you would have missed it. ‘Harold and Kumar’ the animated series!!!!  It has been in different stages of development for the last few years, but today makes me think we’re getting a LOT closer to showtime. Adult Swim, a branch of Cartoon Network, will be the home for the animated serial. The network picked up the series not long after the third installment of the movies ‘A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas‘ wrapped.

Film Review: ‘Fed Up’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 16th, 2014

Fernando M., Here…

original

Katie Couric, as producer and narrator, presents a film which began as individual news stories; the stories slowly developed into a fascinating look into the state of American food production, consumption, and its results on the health of our citizens. This documentary, directed by Stephanie Soechtig, takes an in depth looks at various issues of our state of nutrition and the American epidemic of obesity.  The film’s major focus is on our dependence on processed foods and the political movements that have created our nutritional environment today.

Here Is Ben’s Film Review of ‘Godzilla’ (2014)!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 15th, 2014

Ben K., Here…

godzilla-2014-wallpaper-images-photos-0302091031

Despite a rich and incredibly varied film history, one would be hard pressed to imagine a more famous Japanese cinematic export than Godzilla. Born at Toho Company in 1954, he’s still alive and kicking ass, as it were, at the ripe age of sixty. Cast as a villain and a hero over the years, whatever his role, he has always been nature’s favorite solution to just about any problem. Six decades ago he was awakened by atomic bomb testing and took revenge on mankind for creating them. In this new Gareth Edwards iteration, other monsters feed on radiation from our nuclear power plants in order to wreak similar havoc, so Godzilla is sent to annihilate them.

The ‘They Came Together’ Trailer Is Here!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on May 2nd, 2014

Hello, Jana here,

tct_article_story_large

If you want to make a spoof of every romantic comedy you’ve ever seen, you should cast Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler. That’s what ‘Wet Hot American Summer‘ director David Wain did with ‘They Came Together‘. Poehler is the perfect choice for a corny spoof. She’s gained legions of fans with her quirky performances in ‘Saturday Night Live‘, ‘Mean Girls‘ and ‘Blades of Glory‘. Rudd is always going to be the dorky Dave Paris in Baz Luhrman’sRomeo + Juliet‘.
