The upcoming 11th edition of the Dallas International Film Festival, or DIFF, opens March 30 and runs through April 9 for 2017. The festival will celebrate the year of 1967 with a salute to films from that year and we’ve got the full schedule here.

The series has been hailed as an amazing piece of original programming and has the awards to back it up, including three consecutive Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. From creator Jenji Kohan, the creator of ‘Weeds‘, that’s another brilliant show you definitely need to binge.

Film Review: ‘The Girl on the Train’!

I can certainly see the appeal of Paula Hawkins’ first successful novel ‘The Girl on the Train‘, which was released in 2015, and was fast-tracked and optioned into a major motion picture by Universal Pictures to come out this weekend. It has some deeply dark and layered characters and tackles a range of emotions and vices from alcoholism, abuse, and even a murder. It’s a good story with a who-done-it angle that feels fresh and original. The problem here is that the film felt a bit rushed and lazy, which gave way to the very slow burn the film has and never quite stays on point with its many flashbacks and timing, often times showing the same scene several times. It just got tedious and redundant twenty minutes in and never stopped being overly dramatic with longing stares, tears, and silence.

Netflix has taken their business model of introducing original programming to their subscribed masses seriously. In 2013 the streaming network introduced ‘Orange Is The New Black‘ to a very receptive audience and it wasn’t long before they brought a second season to play. Before the third season is even available, the network has announced that it has renewed the lady-led prison story for a fourth season.

Mary Steenburgen Joins ‘Orange Is The New Black’!!

If you’ve seen the first season of Orange is the New Black on Netflix in the last year then you have probably devoured the second season which was made available just 10 days ago. News is already coming out about casting for season 3 of the original scripted dramedy. It has been confirmed that Mary Steenburgen has joined the cast, but her character is being kept under wraps, at least for now.
