4K UHD Review: ‘Justice League’!
THE FILM
(This film portion was written by Dan Moran)
There are several things about Justice League that are good. I think the cast is terrific. Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa, and Ezra Miller are great in their roles. They each have a character moment (earned or not) that makes me interested in seeing their next solo adventure. DC/WB has put some talented filmmakers in charge of the next slate of movies. Justin Lin doing Aquaman sounds great, Patty Jenkins taking Wonder Woman on her next adventure, and Matt Reeves writing and directing The Batman. These are world-class filmmakers who have a great actor in the title role and hopefully that leads to some great story telling. I have no idea who is directing The Flash but I did enjoy him as the comic relief character in Justice League and would like to see if he is more than that in the future. Even Henry Cavill’s “new” Superman was delightful as he is reborn in this film and is no longer a whiney douchebag with terrible parents. Man of Steel 2 is actually on my radar now! But those are the nicest things I can say about Justice League. I loved the cast and I look forward to their solo adventures because having them all together in whatever Justice League was/is/supposed to be was a horrific insult to the fans of DC and moviegoers in general.

The New ‘Justice League’ Trailer is Here!
Written By Bryan Kluger:
A new ‘Justice League‘ trailer is here and shows a ton more footage. It’s just too bad that it isn’t all that great and once again, there is no Superman. Well, Supes does show up, but only in a dream walking through his home farm in Smallville like Russell Crowe meandering through the tall grass in ‘Gladiator‘, which is funny, because Crowe is Supes’ father. Other than that, Superman is not in the trailer, which furthers the stupidity of DC in trying to surprise us with a Superman appearance in ‘Justice League‘.
There’s a new Justice League Trailer!
Hi everyone, Bryan here…
At San Diego Comic-Con today, the cast and crew of the upcoming Justice League movie debuted more footage, which looks amazing. Zack Snyder’s style is all over this film, however you can tell where Joss Whedon stepped in. The trailer shows all sorts of actions, characters and gives more insight on just what is going on in the film and where it’s going.
Doug Liman Joins ‘Justice League Dark’ Film!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Doug Liman has bowed out of the ‘X-Men‘ spinoff property ‘Gambit‘. Instead he will direct a DC property, ‘Justice League Dark‘ that will bring together classic characters like John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna and Etrigan the Demon. Scott Rudin has joined the project as producer with Michael Gilio writing the script.
Check Out DC’s Finest In The ‘Justice League’ Trailer!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Warner Bros. has some of the most anticipated panels at San Diego Comic Con and for good reason. This is where they will wow audiences with new posters, news and trailers for their upcoming and highly anticipated films. One of the gems, Warner Bros. has gifted the attendees with is the very first trailer for Zack Snyder’s ‘Justice League‘.
Blu-ray Review: ‘LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League – Gotham City Breakout’
Hi everyone, Bryan here…
THE FILM
LEGO sure has the market on DC films for kids. This film as the past direct-to-video films have incorporated almost all of the DC heroes to satisfy all fans for all ages. Packed with some great voice-talent that is recognizable to fans, this 78-minute ‘Justice League‘ story is quite entertaining, despite the chaotic pace and silliness. The full title of this film is ‘LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League – Gotham City Breakout‘ and has just about every DC superhero and villain showing up here, along with some new characters.
The Plot To The ‘Justice League’ Pic Has Been Released!!!
He guys, Jana here,
We’ve waited for the plot of the ‘Justice League‘ movie and now our patience will be rewarded. Filming is now underway and the buzz is flying all around telling us what’s going on, where it’s happening and what we can expect.
Willem Dafoe Joins the ‘Justice League’!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here…
Willem Dafoe joins the small group of actors to portray both Marvel and DC characters. Dafoe played the Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man‘ films, and now the actor is joining the ‘Justice League‘ on the superhero side of things, rather than a villain.
J.K. Simmons Is Joining ‘The Justice League’ As Commissioner Gordon!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Zack Snyder has placed J.K. Simmons in the middle of another superhero world, this time making him Gotham City police commissioner Gordon in his upcoming ‘The Justice League‘. This is the same man that anchored Sam Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man‘ at the Daily Planet as J. Jonah Jameson beginning in 2002 and running through three films before the property was rebooted.
Ironically, just last week Simmons stated that he’s open to playing Jameson again in the latest MCU reboot of ‘Spider-Man‘ that is starring Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei and Zendaya.
Zack Snyder Will Direct ‘Justice League’ Film Following ‘Batman Vs. Superman’!!!
Hello, Jana here,
It looks like Warner Bros. is banking pretty heavily on Zack Snyder’s ‘Batman vs. Superman‘ release, with a so-so reception of last year’s ‘Man of Steel‘, they gave him a sequel. Not only is he doing a sequel, he cast Ben Affleck as Batman which has drawn cheers and jeers, mostly jeers, from the public since then. So it seems a little ridiculous to me that Warner Bros. has already announced a ‘Justice League‘ movie helmed by Snyder. I’m not saying a ‘Justice League‘ film isn’t a good idea, I just don’t think building the DC Universe off of the ‘Man of Steel‘ platform is the way to do it.
The ‘Justice League’ Movie Just Got Interesting!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
The good folks over at Latino Review have posted a bit of information that a lot of you will find exciting. It seems that Warner Bros., of course will be handling the ‘Justice League‘ film, but we have reported a few times on potential directors, producers, writers, and which superheroes would be in the first film. Needless to say, DC and Warner have been very tight lipped about anything ‘Justice League‘, as they are keeping the focus on their upcoming Superman film ‘Man of Steel‘, which we hear is the best movie of the year.
‘The Justice League’ Film is on the Hunt For a Director or Directors!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
With the success of ‘The Avengers’, it’s not surprise that Warner wants to do ‘The Justice League’ film, which will put most of the DC superheroes together to fight evil. We have talked before on how Warner expressed interest in Ben Affleck directing this epic project. However we hear that Affleck isn’t wanting to do the picture, because he is busy doing his own projects. And I can understand that. He can have total control over his own films, but with this big budget project, I doubt anyone will have total creative control.
4K UHD Review: ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’!
Hi everyone, Bryan here…
THE FILM
For all the comic book fans around the globe, we live in a great time of moviemaking. Over the past decade, we’ve seen Hollywood take the superhero genre by storm, releasing comic book movie after comic book movie with A-list stars, talented directors, and epic budgets to bring our childhood heroes to life on the big screen. This successful genre has even garnered many awards, as well as numerous television shows on almost every network. It shows no signs of slowing up. Marvel has paved the way for superhero franchises, building on each superhero character that culminated into the ‘Avengers‘ movies, showcasing each superhero across the other superhero movies, providing a big bridge to gather all stories together. It’s been an excellent financial and critical success.

The Official Title Is ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’!!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here…
Well it looks like Zack Snyder and Warner Bros. has an official title for the new Batman/Superman movie, which will be called ‘Dawn of Justice‘. I bet that means Dawn of the ‘Justice League‘, which Warner Bros. has been planning for quite sometime now. The film is set to open up on may 6th, 2016 and production has officially begun.
Bryan Reviews ‘Young Justice’ Season 1 Volume 2 DVD!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
From the vaults of DC Comics and Warner Bros. comes ‘Young Justice’, which is a part of the famous Justice League. This release is the latter part of season 1 boasting four episodes in total. The animation is really good and I think the younger generation will really take a liking to this new generations of super heroes. All hail ‘Young Justice’.
‘Suicide Squad: Hell To Play’ is coming to 4K UHD and Blu-ray!
DC Comics and Warner Bros. is set to release a hardcore rated R ‘Suicide Squad‘ animated film called ‘Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay‘ on 4k UHD and Blu-ray. You can watch the film digitally on march 27th, 2018 and purchase the 4K UHD and Blu-ray on April 10th, 2018. The film is rated R for strong bloody violence throughout, sexual content, brief graphic nudity, and some drug material. I’m super excited for this already.
Jana’s Best of 2017!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
I know these “Best of 2017” lists should technically be published in 2017, but why would I start 2018 any differently than I lived the majority of my adult life: Procrastinating and underachieving. What can I say? That’s my wheelhouse.
For a year that put a spotlight on some of the shittiest behavior by some of the Hollywood elite, it was actually a good year for TV and movies. I didn’t limit myself in number because as I moved on with the brackets, I felt like I was making ‘Sophie’s Choice‘ on some of these, so they’re all getting in! I’m feeling my inner-Oprah here, You’ve made the list! You made the list! EVERYBODY made the list!! In order to spare myself any arguments, I’m stating up front that my picks for the “Best of 2017” are not edited in regards to scandal or hideous human behavior.

Then we dive into the holidays, where we talk about the best Christmas music and our favorite holiday presents we ever got. It was so much fun. Movies We’re Thankful For!
Tis the season to be thankful for many things. Family, friends, food, jobs, and Bruce Campbell. It’s Thanksgiving time and we here at Boomstick Comics just love movies. We love everything about them. Even the bad ones. While you’re eating those delicious bites of Turkey, watching ‘Charlie Brown Thanksgiving‘ or the Dallas Cowboys Game, we want to share with you some movies that we are thankful for. These movies have touched us in some way and have helped shaped our creative lives. Maybe this list will inspire you to make your own list and share it with us. These are the movies we are thankful for and dearly love.
DC Announces its next movie will be Shazam!
Hi everyone, Bryan here….
The cat is out of the bag. The next big movie in the DC Cinematic Universe will be Shazam!, which is a story about a boy who transforms into the mightiest mortal on Earth. Filming should begin at the start of 2018 and will release the following year. They even have a director now, which is David F. Sandberg – a horror filmmaker. Sandberg made Lights Out and the upcoming Annabelle: Creation, according to THR. That’s pretty much it. Now he’s getting a big comic book franchise. It’s exciting for sure and judging by Lights Out, I’m sure he’s more than capable.

Celebrate The Life of Powers Boothe!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Powers Boothe
June 1, 1948 – Mar 14, 2017
When great entertainers pass away, it’s difficult to come up with the right way to mourn a life that still lives on for us in so many ways. The one way we can not just respect the life, but continue to enjoy the life they lived is with re-watching their movies that cement their presence in our lives.

The speculation is over and it’s official that the man behind the Deathstroke mask is Joe Manganiello!!! Ben Affleck’s standalone Batman film has recruited the ‘Magic Mike‘ dancer to become what’s described in the DC comic book world as one of the most deadly assassins. Read the rest of this entry »
Who’s Under The Deathstroke Mask and What Movie Will He Be In????
Hey guys, Jana here,
Is Deathstroke coming to the film world of the DC Universe? Maybe so after Ben Affleck shared a solo video with no comment or explanation this morning on Twitter. We don’t know precisely what it means, but it looks to be a screen test as we can see the monitor Batfleck is recording it from.

DC Movie Dates Announced Into 2020!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Get your calendars handy, because you’re going to want to start blocking off some dates for movie nights! I’ve got some new dates and some previous dates that have been moved around. Your calendar needs to reach at least until 2020 for a few of these, too.
Amber Heard Will Be Underwater Royalty in ‘Aquaman’!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Love them, hate them or tolerate them, superhero movies are a staple in the grand pantheon of entertainment. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of slow-down for the summer blockbuster favorites, if anything there are more and more in the woodwork just waiting for their moment in the sun. Marvel took a wide lead over their DC counterpart in both quality and quantity of films produced, but DC is looking to make a comeback and that’s starting with this summer’s ‘Superman V Batman: Dawn of Justice‘. From there, we have stand-alone movies that feature our favorite comic book supes and among those in the works is ‘Justice League: Part One‘ and ‘Aquaman‘.
Here is the New Trailer for ‘Suicide Squad’!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here….
If you were watching the CW last night, you would have caught that amazing trailer for the upcoming movie ‘Suicide Squad‘, which is like ‘The Justice League‘, but full of bad guys. The story behind it is that all of the heroes are busy doing something and another big evil entity comes along and the government calls on the bad guys with powers to stop total chaos. It’s a fantastic trailer for sure. The film comes out August 8th.
Seth Grahame-Smith Directing DC’s ‘The Flash’!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Seth Grahame-Smith is putting some distance between himself and the novels that rocketed him to stardom (‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter‘ and ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies‘) by turning his eye to directing. The project in question isn’t an adaptation to one of his novels, but to ‘The Flash‘.
Here Is The Official Trailer For ‘Batman v Superman’!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
The official plan to release the ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘ trailer this coming Monday, but some dude with a camera phone spoiled those plans and put their shaky, grainy version with Portuguese subtitles out into the interwebs. Zack Snyder reacted by giving the fans what we want, a peek at the trailer.
Meet The Super-Family With Superman Origin Series ‘Krypton’!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
There’s a new comic book series on the horizon, and it doesn’t really even focus on one of our most loved heroes, but an ancestor of his. Where ‘Gotham‘ tells the stories of a crime-riddled city and it’s citizens, ‘Krypton‘ will focus on the planet and it’s inhabitants before Superman’s birth.
Warner Bros. Announces 10 DC Movies, 3 LEGO Films and 3 ‘Harry Potter’ Spin-Offs!!
Hi everyone, Bryan Here…
Marvel Entertainment now has a full fledged rival with Warner Bros. and DC Comics. Warner Bros. and DC Comics has just announced all of its superhero films through 2020, plus a few Lego films and new ‘Harry Potter‘ movies. Needless to say, the theaters are going to be packed and each studio is going to be vying for the top box office placement and receipts.
Supergirl Added To Stable Of TV Supes!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
If you think about superhero television shows, or if you’re like me, you think of the dreck that was ‘Lois and Clark‘, ‘Mutant X‘, or ‘The Tick‘? If it’s not one of those shows, then it’s probably something equally abysmal. With the resurgence of super-powered peeps making such an excellent showing at the box office – because why would they be creating so frakking many of them if they weren’t making some serious coin? So it stands to reason that the small screen is looking for new hit projects in the same vein.
‘Aquaman’ Film Gains Two New Writers!!!
Hey guys, Jana here,
Recently Announced ‘Aquaman‘ movie gains two separate scripts. Will Beall (‘Gangster Squad‘) and Kurt Johnstad (‘300: Rise of an Empire‘) have signed on two pen completely individual scripts. This is a truly ingenious way to achieve the same ends – Having a successful film.
With the lack of popularity for Aquaman among comic book nerds who can find reasons to love the most ridiculous of characters, making a film on the superhero would seem like an uphill battle the second the idea came to them. So how do you make an absolutely awesome film on Aquaman, the butt of the joke for even the most ardent of comic book afficionados? You realize that the first attempt is not going to live up to the dream, immediately. How do you move forward once you know that? You take the development process and dual track everything. The thought process being that if the two writers work on scripts on their own, the studio can then take the best points from each film and put them together in one super-film.
James Cameron and David Goyer Team Up For ‘The Fantastic Voyage’ Remake!!
Hello, Jana here,
James Cameron is adding another project to his already crowded plate. After ‘The Last Train From Hiroshima: The Survivors Look Back‘ has been delayed, Cameron’s announced not only a sequel to the ground-breaking ‘Avatar‘, but a third and fourth installment as well, ‘The Informationist‘ and ‘Battle Angel‘ round out his expected ventures. He’s recently announced his plans to remake the 1966 sci-fi classic ‘The Fantastic Voyage‘.
Warner Bros. Is Building A ‘Lego Movie’ Sequel!!!
Jana B. here,
After the ‘Lego Movie‘ proved to be such a massive blockbuster hit world-wide, Warner Brothers is not letting any of the momentum die down before announcing a sequel. While the details about the coming film are sketchy at best, one thing we know for sure is the release date has been staked out for May 26, 2017, with it being the beginning of the long Memorial Day weekend, we can assume it will be the tentpole for their summer film releases. At this point, this is the only film to claim the release date. So far, the only real thing that has been confirmed is the release date and that it will be the Lego universe. The rumor mill is spinning with whether or not it will be a proper sequel to the film in theaters now or if it will be a Lego Ninjago spinoff.
‘Constantine’ Will Now Be A Series!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
Warner Bros. and DC Comics have teamed up yet again. This time it’s for a television show based on the comic book ‘Constantine‘. If you remember, a few years ago, Keanu Reeves starred as John Constantine, based on the same book. This particular series will be headed to NBC with David S. Goyer and Daniel Cerone serving as writer and producer.
Superman and Batman To Team Up For Next Film!!!
Hi, Bryan Here…
We have confirmation that Warner Bros. is prepping a Batman and Superman film, a Flash film, and a Justice League film. The Warner Bros. panel is currently in session right now at San Diego Comic Con, which we will have updates on that very soon. What we do know is that all of these films have release dates. The Batman and Superman film will be released in 2015, which might be the ‘Man of steel‘ sequel, ‘The Flash‘ film will be in 2016, and ‘The Justice League‘ movie will be in 2017.
Film Review: ‘Man of Steel’!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
Did we need another Superman origin story to grace our theaters just seven years after Bryan Singer’s attempt at ‘Superman Returns‘? While that particular film wasn’t so much a reboot as it was a sequel to the original ‘Superman 2‘, and its failure in its characters and story, maybe it was time to forget that ‘Superman Returns‘ existed and start from scratch. And with the super success of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy and Marvel’s Avenger’s films, DC and Warner Bros. might want to take the same road to a Justice League film starting with ‘Man of Steel‘.
Guillermo Del Toro Making a Epic ‘Avengers’ Like Movie!?!?
Hi, Bryan Here….
I think Guillermo Del Toro might just be the coolest guy on the planet, next to Tom Waits. His new epic film ‘Pacific Rim’ is testing through the roof, we hear and Warner Bros. is so happy about it, they want Guillermo to make all their films. Warner offered Guillermo to direct a feature adaptation of the tv series ‘V’ and a sequel to ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’. But we hear that Guillermo wants to do his own version of a film like ‘The Avengers’ or ‘The Justice League’.

See the First Image of ‘Green Arrow’ In The CW’s New Series!!!
Hi, Bryan Here….
The CW is revving up its new series ‘Arrow’ with Stephen Amell set to star. I’m of course referring to comic book character ‘The Green Arrow’. The costume looks great. It was designed by Colleen Atwood who is an oscar winning costume designer and done just about every Tim Burton film. The project, written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Andrew Kreisberg, is based on the DC character and centers on former billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Amell) who, after being marooned for five years on a remote island, returns with a mysterious agenda and a lethal set of new skills that he uses in a war on crime.

DC Comics Dropping Their Monthly Comics Prices From $3.99 to $2.99
Beginning January 2011, DC Comics will implement a line-wide pricing adjustment, lowering the prices of all standard length 32-page ongoing comic book titles currently priced at $3.99 to $2.99, it was announced today by DC Comics Co-Publishers Jim Lee and Dan DiDio.
“Today’s announcement re-affirms DC Comics’ commitment to both our core fans and to comic book store retailers,” said Jim Lee, DC Comics Co-Publisher. “For the long term health of the industry, we are willing to take a financial risk so that readers who love our medium do not abandon the art form.”
“As Co-Publishers, we listened to our fans and to our partners in the retail community who told us that a $3.99 price point for 32 pages was too expensive. Fans were becoming increasingly reluctant to sample new titles and long term fans were beginning to abandon titles and characters that they’d collected for years.” said Dan DiDio, DC Comics Co-Publisher. “We needed a progressive pricing strategy that supports our existing business model and, more importantly, allows this creative industry to thrive for years to come. With the exceptions of oversized comic books, like annuals and specials, we are committed to a $2.99 price point.”
When taking into account mini-series, annuals and specials, more than 80% of DC’s comic books will be priced at $2.99.
As of January, the following titles standard length ongoing titles, previously priced at $3.99 for 32 pages/22 story pages, will be priced at $2.99 with 32 pages/20 story pages:
American Vampire;
Batman: The Dark Knight;
Batman Incorporated;
Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors;
JSA All-Stars.
As of January, the following licensed titles, previously priced at $3.99, will be priced at $2.99:
Gears of War;
God of War;
Kane & Lynch;
Ratchet & Clank.
As of January, the following ongoing titles previously priced at $3.99 for 40 pages/30 story pages including co-features, will no longer include co-features and will be priced at $2.99 for 32 pages/ 20 story pages:
Action Comics;
Adventure Comics;
Batman: Streets of Gotham;
Detective Comics;
Doc Savage;
Justice League of America;
Legion of Super-Heroes;
The Spirit.
In January, five books are $3.99 for 40 pages/30 story pages:
Batman: Europa # 1
First Wave # 6
DCU: Legacies # 9
Weird Worlds # 1
World of Warcraft: Curse of the Worgen
The following oversized anniversary issue will be $4.99 for 48 pages/38 story pages:
Hellblazer # 275
Grant Morrison’s All-Star Superman Coming to Screen
Finally an All-Star comic Title is getting its much deserved attention to video. All-Star Superman will be one of those PG-13 straight to video animated releases. If you have seen some previous ones then you know how BADASS as they are. So much time and love go into making these animated movies.
In my opinion, Morrison’s All-Star Superman tale is one of the best Man of Steel stories I have ever read. It is up there with Alan Moore’s Superman story “Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow”.
The book is basically about how Superman copes when he realizes an overdose of radiation will soon kill him.
And Oh My…do they have a stellar cast of voices lending their talent.
James Denton (“Desperate Housewives”) plays Superman, Christina Hendricks (“Mad Men”) plays Lois, Ed Asner (“Lou Grant”) plays Perry and Anthony LaPaglia (“Empire Records”) plays Luthor.
Linda Cardellini (“Freaks and Geeks”) and Arnold Vosloo (“The Mummy”) are also in the voice cast.
Dwayne McDuffie, who did a spectacular job scripting “Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths,” is penning the script for this one also.
Going to be AWESOME! Now we just need a rated “R” All- Star Batman and Robin.
