4K UHD Review: ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 22nd, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

THE FILM

For all the comic book fans around the globe, we live in a great time of moviemaking. Over the past decade, we’ve seen Hollywood take the superhero genre by storm, releasing comic book movie after comic book movie with A-list stars, talented directors, and epic budgets to bring our childhood heroes to life on the big screen. This successful genre has even garnered many awards, as well as numerous television shows on almost every network. It shows no signs of slowing up. Marvel has paved the way for superhero franchises, building on each superhero character that culminated into the ‘Avengers‘ movies, showcasing each superhero across the other superhero movies, providing a big bridge to gather all stories together. It’s been an  excellent financial and critical success.

‘Friends’ Star All Grown Up And Directing Now!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Sep 6th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

317767

Looks like everyone’s favorite, uptight, clean-freak, cooking ‘Friend(s)‘ is not going to be in front of the camera in her next venture, but Courteney Cox will be making her directorial debut. Starz jumped to the front of the line after seeing ‘Just Before I Go‘ at the Tribeca Film Festival. It’s a dark comedy to be sure, but who wants ‘The Brady Bunch‘ kind of nonsense anymore? Everything needs an edge. Some of my favorite shows are heavy with edge, like eyeliner on a goth chick. ‘Weeds‘, that’s not any type of a normal setup and it’s not all rainbows and unicorn farts. ‘Nurse Jackie‘, who doesn’t love a drug-addicted nurse?

Alexis Bledel, of ‘Gilmore Girls‘ fame, is set to star in Fox’s and new comedy, ‘Friends and Family‘ alongside Jason Ritter. You might remember Ritter from his roles on ‘Parenthood‘ and ‘The Event‘, along with him being the son of the late great John Ritter. The concept, taken from the UK series ‘Gavin & Stacey‘,  is for Gavin (Ritter) and Stacey (Bledel) to try to keep their relationship going with all the differences that hit it.

Film Review ‘Another Wolfcop’!!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 11th, 2017

Hey guys, Jana here,I had the awesome pleasure of watching ‘Another Wolfcop‘. I have to preface this review by saying there are few things I love more in this world than movies, specifically the fantastic sub-genre of horror-comedy. Don’t ask me why, but that pair works together like pineapple on pizza. Yeah, I’m one of those people. While people far and wide dis the pineapple on pizza combo, it’s an unadulterated fact that the horror-comedy tag-team works like crazy in film. So read on to check out what you can expect from this sequel to ‘Wolfcop‘ from writer/director Lowell Dean.

DEAR EVAN HANSEN – US Tour Stage Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 28th, 2019

A rarity in the theatre world, Dear Evan Hansen hit the world by storm back in 2016 that was crafted entirely on original ideas and music. Most productions today draw inspiration from books or other projects, but Dear Evan Hansen was a prototype on Broadway that has been met with huge success. Some four years later the themes and music still resonate with anyone who watches this play unfold, and you know that creators Benj Pasek and Justin Paul can strike gold anytime they want as they’ve shown with writing the songs for the film La La Land or in this case about an isolated high school student with a big lie that goes viral on social media.

The Peanut Butter Falcon – Blu-ray Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 30th, 2019

The Peanut Butter Falcon is a stone-cold stunner of a movie where an unexpected friendship blossoms between two people on their way to a pro-wrestling school. It’s the most enchanting movie I’ve seen in a long time. Lionsgate delivers a great 1080p HD transfer along with a prime-sounding DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio mix. Bonus features are scarce on this one, but the movie speaks enough for itself. Highly Recommended!

The Saddest Moments in TV History!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 17th, 2019

Days are getting shorter and it’s starting to feel slightly cooler outside. It’s the end of summer and the beginning of autumn where leaves start to fall and orange spiced everything is available for mass consumption. This new season also signifies going back to school, starting something new whether it be a different job or living in another city. Whatever the case may be, it’s for sure an emotional ride.

Thank goodness for entertaining television though, right?

Echo in the Canyon – Blu-ray Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 11th, 2019

If you’re a music buff, this new documentary called Echo in the Canyon is a must-see. Music industry maestro Andrew Slater and musician Jakob Dylan (Bob’s son and member of the Wallflowers) have given us the gift of rock n’ roll on film that focuses specifically on the mid-1960’s music revolution that catapulted acts like The Byrds, The Mamas & the Papas, Buffalo Springfield, and later years of The Beatles and The Beach Boys to success and fame.

‘IT: Chapter 2’ – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 4th, 2019

“‘IT: Chapter 2’ has some golden moments of horror and comedy, but it comes at an exhaustive and taxing price.”

The second and final chapter of ‘IT‘ brings the adult renderings of Stephen King’s kid heroes to the forefront some 27 years later in ‘IT: Chapter 2‘, that stars Bill Hader, Jessica Chastain, and James McAvoy. This sequel runs in at three hours alone, making the two films over five hours long. Director Andy Muschietti has even said there is a 6.5-hour super-cut of the movie, which leads me to ask why this wasn’t released on a streaming format, due to its episodic nature and extensive time run. Still, this second chapter is entertaining enough but suffers from major flaws in pacing, redundancy, and trying to over-complicate things.

‘The Peanut Butter Falcon’ – Film Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 6th, 2019

“‘The Peanut Butter Falcon’ is this year’s most remarkable movie.”

Two unlikely friends pair up for an adventure of a lifetime in ‘The Peanut Butter Falcon‘, (not to be confused with ‘The Peanut Butter Solution‘). With a modest helping of heart, soul, and comedy, along with some sprinkles of Mark Twain, ‘Stand By Me‘, and the best thing in the world – Pro-Wrestling, this film hits all of the right notes from start to finish and quickly became on my favorite movies.
