Josh Gad Teaming Up With Disney Again!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Apr 26th, 2014

Hello, Jana here,

8065JoshGad800

When we talk about ‘Frozen‘ a few things probably jump to mind. Be it the icy tundra it’s set in, the fantastic, albeit overplayed ‘Let it Go‘, or the comic relief that is either Olaf the hug-loving snowman or how John Travolta stumbled over the name Idina Menzel during the Academy Awards that created memes and quizzes as far as the eye could see.

Josh Gad To Play Sam Kinison!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 5th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

 Sam-Kinison-headshot-2

Sam Kinison is coming back in a big way. David Permut’s project on the late comedian has been greenlit and is gaining full steam. Larry Charles is set to direct Josh Gad as Sam Kinison. Rich Wilkes wrote the script based on the book ‘Brother Sam‘, by Bill Kinison. This is amazing news, folks. One of the greatest comedians ever to grace the stage and make us laugh is receiving the proper treatment.

A Little Shop of Horrors Remake is on the way!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 3rd, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

For your horrible news of the day. Hollywood is wanting to remake Little Shop of Horrors. I know, this is just awful. Greg Berlanti is set to direct the remake of the 1986 musical film that starred Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene, Steve Martin, and an impressive practical effects man-eating plant named Audrey II. Berlanti has made a career of writing and producing all of the DC Comic tv shows for the CW. I guess his next stop are plants that eat people.

Film Review: BAYWATCH!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 23rd, 2017

Dan M., here….

baywatccast

We need to get one thing straight as we start this review. Baywatch is not a movie to be judged on it’s plot. This movie exists in the same realm as Horrible Bosses, Spy, We’re The Millers, 21 Jump Street, & Neighbors. It has just enough plot so that it can get from joke to joke or gag to gag as efficiently as possible. It succeeds in this regard and has a really high “joke landing” percentage. More importantly, as a vehicle for unbelievably attractive people to let loose and be funny, Baywatch goes above and beyond. It is a showcase for these actors to show they’re really, really funny.

Film Review #2: ‘Beauty and the Beast’ (2017)!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 14th, 2017

Dan M., here….

landscape-1478512906-beauty-and-the-beast-movie

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (1991) is in the top 2 Disney animated movies of all-time. I’ll only allow The Lion King, which has a live action version due in 2019 or 2020, to be ranked ahead of it. This isn’t a debate. These are facts. Beauty and the Beast (animated) is a masterpiece from songs to characters, which is why I loved that this new live-action movie stayed so true to the animated version. It was an extremely enjoyable two hours with some really great moments and I look forward to seeing it again.

Film Review: ‘Beauty and the Beast’ (2017)!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 6th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

Screen Shot 2017-03-06 at 12.22.19 PM

While Disney is busy making ‘Marvel‘ movies and new ‘Star Wars‘ films, they are finding it difficult to make original films these days, which is why they are taking their back catalogue of animated movies and remaking them in the live-action format. We’ve seen it with ‘The Jungle Book’, ‘Cinderella’, and the recent ‘Snow White’ films. Disney has no plans on stopping either, as with the release of ‘Beauty and the Beast‘ and their upcoming ‘Lion King’ live action remake. After watching this new version of ‘Beauty and the Beast‘, I don’t have high hopes for future live action Disney films whatsoever.

Hey guys, Jana here,

First Trailer For ‘Angry Birds’ Flies Into View!!!

Hey guys, Jana here,

When I heard that the game ‘Angry Birds‘ was being made into a movie, it was obvious what the story-line would consist of: pissed off birds and smug, slightly stupid and villainous pigs battling. Over what? Looks like the pigs are landing alien-like into the birds world. I can completely understand Red’s anger in this clip and am so excited for this movie!

Janet W., Here….

Pixels-2

Pixels opens in 1982 with Sam, a teenager, overflowing with elation at the fact that the new pinnacle of a child’s joy has opened in his town.  Alongside his friend, Cooper, they walk into doors of the wondrous cacophony of fun and games, the arcade.  They meet an awkward conspiracy theorist mind you he is 10 or so years old, and decide to Sam crushes every game put before him all the way to the World Championships then he meets his nemesis, Fire Blaster aka Eddie.  The casting of the young characters is quite good, especially when it came to young Eddie.  Fast-forward several years and the adventure begins with an attack on Guam by Galaga.  Yes, the arcade game.

Disney is right in the middle of their latest trend in film. Taking their own smash animated stories and flipping them around, re-working them into live-action films providing double the bank off a single story. If you’re talking box office success, they’re mega-hits, if you’re looking at critically, they’ve missed the end zone more than they’ve scored. Next up for the family studio is ‘Beauty and the Beast‘.

We’ve all heard the story, a tale as old as time…Our heroine Belle, sacrifices her freedom to trade places with her father living in an enchanted castle with a horridly monstrous beast that embodies the stuff nightmares are made of. She holds the key to his ultimate salvation and the others living in the castle nudge the pair together in hopes the end of their enchantment will be realized. You’re getting married.  This should be the happiest event of your life, right?  Well, what if you have no friends?  What if the people you barely know won’t be there for your special day?  Meet Doug Harris (Josh Gad).  Harris called any person that was in his vicinity as he grew up.  He’s nerdy and chubby and doesn’t have a friend in the world.  For Harris, meeting the woman of your dreams, Gretchen Palmer (Kaley Cuoco-SweetingBig Bang Theory), and having her say yes to marriage is more than a score, it’s a miracle to him.  She’s blonde, she’s beautiful, and she has seven bridesmaids.  So, how does a perceived loser matchup with that?  Where is Harris going to get seven groomsmen when he cannot even find a best man?  Enter, Jimmy Callahan (Kevin Hart) a slick talking idea man that can make anyone look good…he is The Wedding Ringer.

Steve Jobs is the topic of another biopic project. This time around Christian Bale is going to play the legendary genius opposite Seth Rogen’s Steve Wozniak. Bale and Rogen are shoring up a cast that will possibly include Jessica Chastain in an unspecified role.  Alone, Jobs and Wozniak were brilliant, but together the tech world would never be the same once they launch Apple. Writer Aaron Sorkin has adapted Walter Isaacson’s biography, ‘Steve Jobs‘ for Sony. Oscar-Winning director Danny Boyle (‘Trainspotting‘, ‘Slumdog Millionaire‘) is leading the life story. David Fincher was originally attached as director but his demands of a $10 Million salary and full creative control was not met by the studio.

Here is our 32nd episode of ‘The Multi-Media Men‘, and we are back from a two week hiatus from covering the Dallas Film Festival.  We recorded this 32nd podcast on Easter Sunday morning in Dallas, TX, and were missing a couple of regulars. However, we were joined by Susan Kamyab of ‘This Chix Flix‘ and ‘Irving Community Television‘ this weekend and she made an excellent addition to the podcast. And since we are back from our small break, what better way to celebrate than with one of our infamous ReCast segments. We went ahead and did it. We ReCast ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show‘, which is one of the best films of all time. There is no way we can replace any of the actors aboard here, but we know that MTV wants to remake it and in this day and age, it is more likely to happen than not. So here are some of our suggestions on who should play which role? Do you agree with us?  And please let us know what you think by going to our FACEBOOK page, which you should visit to catch up on all the latest information. Hi, Bryan Here….

wish_i_was_here_-_h_-_2014

The first trailer for ‘Wish I Was Here‘ is officially out and ready for your viewing. This is Zach Braff’s (‘Scrubs‘) second film that he directed since ‘Garden State‘ in 2004. So yes, it’s been ten years since then and we are all in our 30s now. It’s difficult to pin point what exactly the story is here with this trailer, but rest assured, this film is going to be fantastic. It looks like Braff took the best parts of a Wes Anderson movie and the best parts of a Stanley Kubrick movie and mixed them together in his own magical talent to give us the tale of family, love, and loss. At least that is what it looks like. There is a lot going on in this trailer with different genres and characters, but one thing is for sure, I bet I’m gonna need a box of tissue for my eyes after watching this.

You have probably heard about the new Adam Sandler and Kevin James venture ‘Pixels‘. Don’t write this one off just because you see their names on the starring list. I know many subscribe to the theory that their comedic talents are past their prime and they give us nothing new but vapid buffoonery. I like slapstick comedy, I like the obvious joke. I appreciated the originality of ‘Grown Ups‘ and groaned with the rest of you at the dreck that was ‘Grown Ups 2‘. But I think they have a quality that works when they team up together.

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 16th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…

46170_559013850795067_759382151_n

Joshua Michael Stern’s biographical film on one of the world’s greatest innovators and creators of the biggest and most successful corporations offers a selective look into the life of Steve Jobs and his first twenty rocky years with Apple. Not only does this give us an informative and somewhat displeasing look of one of America’s beloved icons, but this journey with Jobs is also very entertaining. As ‘JOBS‘ is set to release on Apple’s 37th anniversary, I expect high box office receipts from Apple fanboys, admirers, and anyone who uses an Apple product.

Film Review: ‘The Internship’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 6th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

The-Internship-Wallpaper-01

Much like ‘The Wedding Crashers‘, there is big potential for a successful comedy and tons of gut busting laughs from Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. And just like last time the two were together, we get a bland paint-by-the-numbers comedy that provides only a couple of laughs that is predictable and lacks any real entertainment that lasts more than a couple of seconds. Not making the situation any better, this comedy has a PG-13 rating in order to bring a broader and family friendlier audience to the mix, and the entire movie feels like an ode to Google, more than a comedy. That being said, Vaughn and Wilson should still draw a decent opening weekend.

Steve Jobs was, regardless of your personal feelings about him, an innovator who literally changed the course of our nation, culturally speaking.  The man was an artist, a complex individual with an incredible story behind him.  Unfortunately, the film “Jobs” did not do enough to give Mr. Jobs a proper sendoff into history.
