Blu-ray Review: ‘Piranha II: The Spawning’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 3rd, 2018

Back in 1981, the world was introduced to filmmaker James Cameron (T2: Judgement Day, Avatar, True Lies). His first feature film was called ‘Piranha II: The Spawning‘ or otherwise known as The Flying Killers and was a sequel to the first ‘Piranha‘ film from a few years prior. The production of this movie had a very troubled history, where Cameron wasn’t even the filmmaker hired for the job. The original director was fired due to differences with the hard-nosed Italian producer. This was also true with Cameron as well, where Cameron had a completely different filmed version and script of the movie that was more or less a comedy horror film that was fun.

Good news, everyone. There is a new horror genre film festival looking to scare people next year, which will be called ‘The Overlook Film Festival‘ and will start on April 27th at Oregon’s Timberline Lodge, which was used (exterior shots) for Stanley Kubrick’s ‘The Shining’. Festival heads Michael Lerman and Landon Zakheim announced the event this Halloween and are planning on bringing classic films, new films, experimental events, and interactive fun to the Timberline Hotel. This first year will be a four day event and looks to be quite fun as it is being put on by a ton of people from the Alamo Drafthouse and ‘Fantastic Fest‘.

‘Gremlins’ Will Undergo A Remake!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Apr 9th, 2015

Hey guys, Jana here,

Gizmo

Up next for the remake film treatment is one of my childhood favorites, ‘Gremlins‘. I grew up loving Gremlins, they start out absolutely adorable, but just like any horror movie from the 80’s there’s a strict set of rules you have to follow to survive. Instead of not having sex, you can’t get the precious Mogwai wet or you will likely die. In a horror movie you don’t split away from your group, but in ‘Gremlins‘ you can’t feed them after midnight, or you will likely die. I wonder if there’s a parallel universe and movies are the Mogwai, if you get them wet, they replicate a bad copy of the original, I’d say that’s the cause for the remake-hell we are living through.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

tales-of-halloween-bostwick

I’m a complete sucker for horror anthology movies. Everything from ‘Trick R’ Treat‘ to ‘Creepshow‘ and even ‘V/H/S‘, I can’t get enough of these horror films. Well luckily for us, there is a brand new horror anthology on the horizon and it’s titled ‘Tales of Halloween‘. It will feature a ton of actors and directors from the horror genre as far back as the 60s thru present and will tell a few different tales (ten to be exact) that all take place in the same town where people are attacked by various monsters.

Paramount is Remaking ‘Explorers’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 12th, 2014

Hi, Bryan Here…

explorers-kids

Yes, Paramount is remaking one of my favorite 80’s film, ‘Explorers‘. You know the one where a young Ethan Hawke, River Phoenix, and Jason Presson built a spaceship out of an old tilt-a-whirl carnival ride? Yes that one. It is still one of my favorite movies and is one of the big reasons I got into science, space and film. Everything about the movie spoke to me as a kid, and I wanted so desperately to build a spaceship after watching that film.

Paul Reubens or better known as Pee-Wee Herman had some exciting news today. Though it’s only a tease, a big announcement is coming sooner than later. Reubens, who can be heard in ‘Smurfs 2‘ talked a little bit about that film and his upcoming Pee-Wee projects. We’ve talked about potential Pee-Wee projects before on the site, but this time it seems like they are finally happening and in the near future.

Warner Bros. Is Trying to Reboot ‘Gremlins’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 17th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

gremlins-05-470-75

Warner Bros. is currently negotiating with Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment to remake ‘Gremlins‘.  Over the past several years, studios have tried to get a reboot green lit, but nothing has ever panned out, mostly due to financials and the rights to the film.  Plus, we hear that Spielberg might not want to let it go without his named attached to the project.  So what makes this time different from the rest of the past negotiations?

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

You just can’t keep Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio away from each other. The two are prepping a new film that is based on the true crime thriller ‘Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI‘ by author David Grann. This insane true story is set in the 1920s where the members of the Osage nation in Oklahoma were brutally killed after someone discovered oil beneath their land. This went on for a while as a serial murder rampage, which was one of the first big cases the FBI investigated.
