Here are the 2013 Super Bowl Movie Trailers!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 3rd, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

Iron-Man-31

It’s Super Bowl Day, meaning us fellow movie geeks are only interested in a couple of things. 1) Movie trailers. 2) The commercials. 3) Food. 4) The Puppy Bowl. Not necessarily in that order. I mean, the Puppy Bowl is really the only time out of the year where the entire world is at peace and everything is a bit brighter. But, this isn’t about the Puppy Bowl.  This is about some really amazing movie trailers that will be shown during the big game this year.  We can expect a new ‘Iron Man 3‘ trailer, a new ‘World War Z‘ trailer, ‘The Lone Ranger‘ trailer, and another ‘Oz‘ trailer.  Plus some other surprises.  Below are the trailers you can see before anyone else does.  Enjoy.

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

It looks like Disney is releasing more in 4K UHD since they announced their first 4K release with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 the other day. I expect the flood gates to open up real soon, which means, Pixar, 2D animated classics, Marvel, and LucasFilm releases will be coming out in 4K. Bittersweet news, I know. Sweet, because it will look amazing in 4K finally. Bitter, because the wallet will take a big hit. Expect to purchase the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales‘ in 4K UHD on October 3rd with the digital version releasing on September 19th.

‘Beverly Hills Cop 4’ Finally Happening!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 14th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

beverly-hills-cop-4-release-date-570x294

The ‘Beverly Hills Cop‘ franchise seems to be never ending, or at least never getting up off the ground. That being said, it looks like a 4th film with Eddie Murphy is finally gaining steam once again. We’ve seen this before. Hell, we’ve seen a TV series try to take off, but never happen with this franchise. Maybe this time, it will actually happen, and we will get the Detroit cop back in California once again, solving a crime.

Hey guys, Jana here,

trainingday

CBS is just like every other network right now getting their TV schedules figured out, ordering pilots of new shows that will be on a trial basis with hopes of becoming a permanent part of the fall TV schedule. One of the series that has been given a pilot order at CBS is ‘Training Day‘ and it’s just like it sounds, a series based on the Antoine Fuqua directed film of the same name.

Could Kaya Scodelario Be Heading To The High Seas?!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 22nd, 2015

Hey guys, Jana here,

Kaya-Scodelario

There are some film franchises that can continue churning out hit after hit after hit. ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘ isn’t that franchise anymore. The first film, was epic, grand and sweeping and everyone got caught up in the timeless nature of the story, the romanticism of running away with a pirate and pirates being pirates who will do anything they must to achieve their goals. The second film came and I was even more intrigued because this time there was the whole mystique of Davy Jones thrown into the beautiful mix. Then the third…and the fourth…..and now a fifth. I’m pirated out. It’s over, man the rowboats, search for survivors and head for shore. Alas, Disney won’t listen to me, much like Marvel doesn’t listen to me either. If crowds love it and swarm to it, it’s easy to get greedy and kick out film after film with the only goal being to capitalize on the current hot trend. It IS possible to have too much of a good thing! If I can actually have too much bacon to the point where I’m giving it away, it’s possible to have too many frakking pirate movies!

Hey guys, Jana here,

pirates-of-THE-caribbean-logo

I love Johnny Depp and I loved a few of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean‘ films with Depp’s interpretation of the complete wild card that is Captain Jack Sparrow. I watched the next two installments and loved the new element that came to play as we met Davy Jones, his crew and the legend built as we saw our heroes fight to take the tentacled captain down. I was getting bored with the third film as the crew searched for Captain Jack. I rolled my eyes when ‘On Stranger Tides‘ brought the noticeable absence of Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, but replaced the girl power with Penelope Cruz. I’ve tried dozens of times to watch that film and have never once made it all the way through it. I knew that sequel was the beginning of the end of a fun franchise. Disney didn’t get the memo.

Hey guys, Jana here,

TopGun1

It’s been hoped for, talked about, and wished upon many stars for this to come true. It looks like we are getting a sequel to one of the most amazing films the 1980’s brought us – ‘Top Gun‘. Working up a script for the high-flier is Justin Marks, who is currently in negotiations to work on ‘Top Gun 2‘. Paramount, Skydance and Jerry Bruckheimer are backing this highly anticipated sequel. Bruckheimer was with Disney but has moved to Paramount in April and is jumping in with both feet. I’m seriously confused as to what made it take so long for them to get to sequel stage in the first place. An entire population of women, and some men, would have tossed out money hand over fist to get another glimpse at Cruise’s oiled up abs playing volleyball on the beach.

Is ‘Bad Boys 3’ Heading Into Production?!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 15th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

badboys3-front

I can remember something specific about most movies I see. I remember being in high school when the first ‘Bad Boys‘ film came out. The biggest thing that sticks out in my mind though, is how freaking HOT Will Smith looked when he was running down the road and his shirt flew open and showed off his chest and abs, which looked marvelous! This is what stays in my mind when I hear the movie name. My kids are even aware that I have a favorite scene in the movie and which scene it is, and even why, much to their chagrin.

And the Director for ‘Beverly Hills Cop 4’ Is….

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 6th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

beverly7

Well this couldn’t have gotten any worse. Not only are we getting a 4th ‘Beverly Hills Cop‘ movie, but Brett Ratner is now set to direct the sequel. Why am I upset about this, you ask? First off, Murphy hasn’t made a good movie since 1996 with the exception of ‘Dreamgirls‘. Second, the last ‘Beverly Hills Cop‘ movie was so awful that it might be the worst movie ever made. Hell, even George Lucas has an acting role in the last one. And third, Brett Ratner is making it, who might be one of the worst directors out there.

Film Review: ‘The Lone Ranger’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 2nd, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

tonto-theloneranger-cliffs

Director Gore Verbinsky certainly borrows heavily from his animated Western, ‘Rango‘, along with some other choice films for his latest mega budget action adventure film ‘The Lone Ranger‘. In what seems to be a project greenlit only for the fact that Johnny Depp was willing to get in makeup and costume again and sport a new iconic character, this remake is deeply flawed and way too long. Running at two-and-a-half hours, this adventure flick could have been loads better with a full hour knocked off its run-time.

So, There’s Going to be A ‘Top Gun’ Sequel!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 29th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

I really don’t understand why they would want to remake ‘Top Gun’.  In my opinion, ‘Top Gun’ is the most overrated film in cinema history.  It’s one of the most boring films I have seen and not to mention it hold’s the gold medal for most homo-erotic film ever made.  Well according to HWR, Peter Craig, who wrote ‘The Town’ has been hired to write the sequel for ‘Top Gun’ for Paramount.

I am sure you have heard of ILM before or at least seen it in the credits for just about every movie made.  It is the amazing effects company started by Star Wars creator George Lucas 35 years ago.  It was started to create the effects for Star Wars and quickly became the premiere effects company in Hollywood and is virtually in every film in some form or another.

So the Encore movie channel will be airing a documentary in November about the ILM company.  It will be narrated by Tom Cruise and will feature interviews by major actors and directors.

The press release says:

ENCORE PAYS VISUAL TRIBUTE TO OSCAR®-WINNING VISUAL EFFECTS GIANT ILM IN CELEBRATION OF THEIR 35TH ANNIVERSARY WITH ORIGINAL DOCUMENTARY “INDUSTRIAL LIGHT & MAGIC: CREATING THE IMPOSSIBLE”

Tom Cruise Narrates Doc Premiering November 14, 2010
Marathon of Five ILM-Effects Films on Encore

Beverly Hills, CA., September 14, 2010 – Since its founding 35 years ago, Industrial Light & Magic has been the movie industry’s undisputed leader in groundbreaking visual effects, thrilling audiences and making hits into blockbusters. On Sunday, November 14 at 8:00 p.m. (et/pt), Encore presents an original documentary celebrating that legacy. “Industrial Light & Magic: Creating the Impossible” is directed by Academy Award® and Emmy® nominated director Leslie Iwerks and is narrated by Tom Cruise. Encore will also present five ILM-effects films starting at 2:00 p.m. with Jumanji, followed by Hook, Jurassic Park III, Twister and Starship Troopers.

The hour-long special has interviews with filmmakers George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard,  J.J. Abrams and Jon Favreau, actors Samuel L. Jackson and Robin Williams, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and John Lasseter, the chief  creative officer at Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios.  Film and television shows featured in the special include The Abyss, Avatar, Forrest Gump, Jumanji, Jurassic Park, Pirates of the Caribbean, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Robot Chicken, Star Trek (2009), Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Transformers, Twister, Young Sherlock Holmes and The War of the Worlds (2005), which starred narrator Cruise.

Leslie Iwerks’ documentary takes audiences behind the scenes at ILM with in depth interviews with some of the company’s top talent and showcases never before seen footage highlighting many of their pioneering milestones. From creating the first ever computer generated character in a feature film to the latest advancements in visual effects for film franchises like Transformers and Iron Man, ILM has created some of the most memorable movie moments in recent history.

Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is a division of Lucasfilm Ltd. and was founded by George Lucas in 1975 to create the visual effects for his space epic Star Wars. The studio originated in Van Nuys, California but moved to San Rafael, California to work on The Empire Strikes Back and is now headquartered at the Letterman Digital Arts Center in the Presidio of San Francisco with a sister studio in Singapore.

ILM has worked on nearly 300 films in its 35 year history and has largely been the driving force behind the evolution of modern visual effects.  From the liquid metal man in Terminator 2: Judgment Day to the lifelike digital dinosaurs in Jurassic park, ILM has created some of the most iconic moments in cinematic history.

ILM has received 15 Best Visual Effects Oscars and 25 additional nominations. It has also received 23 Scientific and Technical Awards from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in recognition of the critical role the company’s advances in technology have played in the filmmaking process. ILM is also the only entertainment company to be recognized with the National Medal of Technology.

I just hope it is an depth look at the company and not a broad view of it.  I will be recording it.
