Hey guys, Jana here,

A project that can certainly fall into the category of longest gestating reboots is ‘The Crow‘. Since 2008, the plans have been in in the works for a re-imagining of the 1994 film, which itself was based on a comic book series in the late 1980’s by James O’Barr. There were dozens of actors attached to the lead role of Eric Draven from Bradley Cooper to Norman Reedus with a lot of stops in between. The man we’ll see take on the undead vigilante role is officially Jason Momoa!!

Netflix is, at this point, well established in the original series game so it comes as no surprise that their further efforts are drawing some serious star power. Case in point – ‘Frontier‘ from director Brad Peyton, you might recognize that name on the director’s title for ‘San Andreas‘ with co-starred one hell of a powerhouse in Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. So we know Peyton can work with the big names, but who is his star going to be for the streamers new series, ‘Frontier‘ but Khal Drogog himself, Jason Momoa.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Good news, everyone. The U.S. will be getting the seemingly cool werewolf movie, starring Jason Momoa, Lucas Till, and Stephen McHattie. It’s been quite a long time since we’ve received an awesome werewolf movie. This particular one is called ‘Wolves‘ and is directed by David Hayter. This is Hayter’s first feature film to direct, as he is normally a writer. Hayter wrote the screenplays for ‘X-Men‘, ‘X-Men 2‘, ‘The Scorpion King‘, and ‘Watchmen‘. I’m curious to see how this turns out. I’m a sucker for Werewolf movies. Below is the press release.

Holiday Movie Round-Up 2018!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 27th, 2018

Holmes & Watson

First movie I have walked out of by choice in years. What a steaming pile of crap. I knew it was bad going in, considering they didn’t even try to promote it in any way, shape, or form. There was only one trailer I’m aware of and the same TV spot played occasionally during sporting events. When a studio has a comedy they believe will be successful coming out on Christmas they promote the hell out of it. I wish they buried this one even deeper than they did. I didn’t walk out to make some high brow “cool guy” statement.

4K UHD Review: ‘Justice League’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 13th, 2018

THE FILM

(This film portion was written by Dan Moran)

There are several things about Justice League that are good. I think the cast is terrific. Gal GadotBen AffleckJason Momoa, and Ezra Miller are great in their roles. They each have a character moment (earned or not) that makes me interested in seeing their next solo adventure. DC/WB has put some talented filmmakers in charge of the next slate of movies. Justin Lin doing Aquaman sounds great, Patty Jenkins taking Wonder Woman on her next adventure, and Matt Reeves writing and directing The Batman. These are world-class filmmakers who have a great actor in the title role and hopefully that leads to some great story telling. I have no idea who is directing The Flash but I did enjoy him as the comic relief character in Justice League and would like to see if he is more than that in the future. Even Henry Cavill’s “new” Superman was delightful as he is reborn in this film and is no longer a whiney douchebag with terrible parents. Man of Steel 2 is actually on my radar now! But those are the nicest things I can say about Justice League. I loved the cast and I look forward to their solo adventures because having them all together in whatever Justice League was/is/supposed to be was a horrific insult to the fans of DC and moviegoers in general.

Hey guys, Jana here,

fargo_s02e03_patrick_wilson_still

Progress on ‘Aquaman‘ is swimming along prepping for a fall of 2018 release, and with that progress, there is some casting news to let you in on. We know that Jason Momoa will, ummm, scale up? to become the King of Atlantis, and Amber Heard will take on the mantle of Mera, the object of Aquaman’s desires and that Willem Dafoe will transform into Nuidis Vulko, the scientist that plays a very important role in many of the Aquaman story-lines. We can now add to this list, Patrick Wilson who will take on the character Orm (Ocean Master), Aquaman’s half-brother and he’s not such a nice guy, using any means within his reach to try and take over the throne of Atlantis and has been causing problems since 1966.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Batman-Ben-Affleck-970x545

Is Deathstroke coming to the film world of the DC Universe? Maybe so after Ben Affleck shared a solo video with no comment or explanation this morning on Twitter. We don’t know precisely what it means, but it looks to be a screen test as we can see the monitor Batfleck is recording it from.

Willem Dafoe Joins the ‘Justice League’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 19th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Spider-Man-2002-Norman-Osborn-Willem-Dafoe-creep

Willem Dafoe joins the small group of actors to portray both Marvel and DC characters. Dafoe played the Green Goblin in Sam Raimi’sSpider-Man‘ films, and now the actor is joining the ‘Justice League‘ on the superhero side of things, rather than a villain.

Hey guys, Jana here,

amber_heard_mera_split-696x392

Love them, hate them or tolerate them, superhero movies are a staple in the grand pantheon of entertainment. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of slow-down for the summer blockbuster favorites, if anything there are more and more in the woodwork just waiting for their moment in the sun. Marvel took a wide lead over their DC counterpart in both quality and quantity of films produced, but DC is looking to make a comeback and that’s starting with this summer’s ‘Superman V Batman: Dawn of Justice‘. From there, we have stand-alone movies that feature our favorite comic book supes and among those in the works is ‘Justice League: Part One‘ and ‘Aquaman‘.

Hey guys, Jana here,

jk-simmons-closerjpg-0a52c9_1280w

Zack Snyder has placed J.K. Simmons in the middle of another superhero world, this time making him Gotham City police commissioner Gordon in his upcoming ‘The Justice League‘. This is the same man that anchored Sam Raimi’sSpider-Man‘ at the Daily Planet as J. Jonah Jameson beginning in 2002 and running through three films before the property was rebooted.

Ironically, just last week Simmons stated that he’s open to playing Jameson again in the latest MCU reboot of ‘Spider-Man‘ that is starring Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei and Zendaya.

Hey guys, Jana here,

american-gods-1

Neil Gaiman is one of those authors that everyone has heard of and most everyone that reads him, likes what they find. I was a little late to the Gaiman party only getting interested in his work in the last few years, the one thing I didn’t read when I began my Gaiman journey was ‘American Gods‘. Oh mon dieu! I corrected the error of my ways after our Editor-in-Chief, Bryan couldn’t believe I hadn’t read it, yet. Ironically, I was putting together an article on books that should be made into film and this was his suggestion.  I spent a weekend with the tome and fell in love and agreement, this book SHOULD have a film counterpart. The universe responded with wish granted.
