Hey guys, Jana here,

The Disaster Artist‘ is a film based on a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Tommy Wiseau’sThe Room‘. It stars James Franco, Seth Rogen, Alison Brie, Josh Hutcherson, Dave Franco and rounded out by a list of Hollywood heavyweights, all under the direction of James Franco, himself. The film bows December 8, 2017. Check out the cringeworthy trailer as we watch Franco act badly while acting?

James Franco is nothing if not incredibly busy, his latest project just wrapped which makes only 1 in 15 projects he has in varying degrees of completion, at the moment. ‘King Cobra‘ focuses on a murder in the adult entertainment industry in the early 2000s. A porno producer, played by Christian Slater, discovers the next big star in Brent Corrigan (Garrett Clayton), then finds himself the target of rival producer and a former male escort played by Franco, with a bad temper and a burning desire to become a porn kingpin who will stop at nothing to steal his rival’s star. All based on a true story with Keegan Allen, Molly Ringwald and Alicia Silverstone appearing.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

If I were to tell you that Seth Rogen and James Franco were making a movie where they are tasked with a mission from the United States to head to North Korea, track down Kim Jong-un, and kill him – would you jump up from your seat, throw your fist in the air, and scream ‘YES’? I know I did. That is in fact the storyline here with their new film ‘The Interview‘, which is from the makers of ‘Neighbors‘ and ‘This is The End‘. The trailer looks hilarious and is now at the top of my list of movies to see. And man, what a cool poster. Enjoy the trailer.

James Franco’s Next Project Involves Charles Manson!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 18th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

james franco image

James Franco will do just about anything in life.  It’s insane to think about.  I mean, this year he has a few films on the table.  One being the epic Sam Raimi directed ‘Oz the Great and Powerful‘, which will cater to everyone.  But then he has a few gay and or porn related films on the chopping block too, which are ‘Kink‘, ‘Lovelace‘, and ‘Interior Leather Bar‘. Let’s not forget the film ‘Spring Breakers‘, where he plays a drugdealing killer named Alien.  Oh yeah, and he is on a daytime soap opera too when he is not hosting the Oscars or winning awards, or going to school, or acting in pot smoking comedies with his friends.  The guy is an all around huge talent.  It’s very impressive.

Film Review: ‘The Disaster Artist’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 16th, 2017

By now you must know about the “The Room.”  If by some chance you don’t know what it is, I would highly recommend viewing before watching “The Disaster Artist,” although it is by no means required.  Just as a cliff’s note, “The Room” is a cult film known as the best worst movie ever made.  It’s a melodramatic poorly acted mess, but it has hit a chord with enough people to gain midnight movie status, along with audience participation a-la Rocky Horror Picture Show.  It is a beast all of its own and it has drawn the love from college stoners to A list actors alike.  Naturally, in the center of the Venn Diagram of these fanbases, lies James Franco.

Film Review: ‘NERVE’!!

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

Nerve - Cinematography

To quote Marianne Williamson, Author and Lecturer: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It’s not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Hey guys, Jana here,

The 77th Annual Academy Awards - Photo Room

Have the Oscars lost a little of their glittery oomph that make it a night of royalty for Hollywood’s best and brightest? Maybe. One year it will be utterly entertaining, original and exciting, the next it feels forced, stale, boring and becomes the night that NEVER ends early enough. I’m sure there is a formula for success and the host is key. Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Comedy mastermind Judd Apatow is back this year with a new feature film called ‘Trainwreck‘ and is his best film since ‘Knocked Up‘. That was eight years ago. Sure, Apatow has written and produced dozens of films since then, but has only really directed two other feature films since, being ‘Funny People‘ and ‘This is 40‘. The usual actors are nowhere to be seen in ‘Trainwreck‘ either. There is no Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Jason Segel, Martin Starr, or even James Franco to be seen anywhere on screen. Actress and comedienne Amy Schumer wrote the screenplay here for Apatow to direct and the two are a perfect pair.

Sensationalism has long fueled the entertainment world. Whether it’s something that comes from the mind of a creative film maker or ripped straight from the headlines. No one has provided more fodder for an ugly, splashy headline than the murders surrounding cult-leader Charles Manson. Hollywood has been fascinated with the grisly murders since they occurred in the late 1960’s. The public interest in the slayings has led to the story being told in dozens of ways. The story never gets old, either. Pure evil is always going to draw some interest.

‘The Addams Family Re-Cast!!

Hi, Bryan Here…

Here is our fourth Re-Cast of the year, where if you are unfamiliar with our famous Re-Casts, we take an older film or tv show and re-cast it if it were remade today. And this week, we have chosen the iconic film ‘The Addams Family‘ to re-cast. There were no stipulations this time around, so if someone wanted to cast Nicolas Cage for every role, they could.. But after we finished the casting session, and finished our picks, I definitely want to see this movie. Of course, it’s always difficult to replace the original cast, but in this day and age of remakes, anythig is possible, so this is who we think would do best in these roles. This was a lot of fun. We will be posting some images of our re-cast for you to see in full on our FACEBOOK page, which you should visit to catch up on all the latest information. And don’t forget to visit iTunes and subscribe to our podcast. Enjoy the show.

Film Review: ‘Homefront’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 27th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here…

homefront-james-franco-jason-statham-1

It’s quite strange for Hollywood to be releasing this type of film for families on Thanksgiving. ‘Homefront‘ is a violent and bloody action thriller starring Jason Statham and James Franco, with a small appearance by Winona Ryder. The cheesy script is based on a novel by Chuck Logan and was written by Sylvester Stallone, who seems to not have grown out of the 80s action films he starred in. While Stallone is nowhere to be seen in this movie, he does serve as producer and writer, as his handprints are all over this.

Film Review: ‘This is the End’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 11th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

 this_is_the-end

Car crashes, explosions, decapitations, exorcisms, the apocalypse, and tons of dick jokes make up Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen’sThis is the End‘. And I can say that it’s the most fun I’ve had at the movies in ten years. In this dark comedy, we have the entire Apatow clan plus many more cameos of our favorite comedians who all play themselves as they take on the end of days. It’s genuine, gut-bustingly funny, sick, crude, and self-deprecating, which all results in the likes of a twisted reality show, complete with solo interviews with a camera scattered throughout the movie. I anticipate a large opening weekend with a long lasting power after ‘Man of Steel‘ releases later this week.

Hi, Bryan Here….

A more fitting title for this would have been ‘Oz the Modest and Ineffective’. I have no doubt that this prequel will make tons of money the next two weekends at the box office, although it doesn’t deserve it. Even though you have an all-star cast, an amazing director, and top notch talent around the board, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have quality film in the can. On the contrary, it seems like every bit of life, joy, and entertainment was taken away early on, never to return. This prequel to the iconic and incredible 1939 film might be the top miscast film ever put on screen, and that’s only the beginning.

Hi, Bryan Here…

Sam Raimi’s take on the ‘Wizard of Oz’ universe is taking shape nicely.  By the trailer, you can definitely tell people who work with Tim Burton are working on this film with Raimi.  When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking-that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity-and even a bit of wizardry-Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful Wizard of Oz but into a better man as well. It looks good and I hope it is.  The film will open March 8th, 2013.

Seductive, fearless and outrageous, Marina Abramović has been redefining the meaning of art for nearly 40 years. Using her own body as a vehicle, pushing herself beyond her limits, and at times risking her physical safety, she creates performances that challenge, shock and move. From first-time director Matthew Akers, MARINA ABRAMOVIĆ THE ARTIST IS PRESENT follows “the grandmother of performance art” as she prepares for a major retrospective of her work at Manhattan’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in 2010, highlighted by a new exhibit that is breathtaking in its simplicity: two chairs facing each other, with Abramović sitting in one and audience members taking turns sitting in the other, gazing into each other’s eyes in silence. In true Abramović style, she remains in the chair for seven and a half hours each day – every day the museum is open for three months – without eating, drinking or moving, a feat of mental and physical endurance that is challenging even for a veteran of such performances.

Howdy again true believers.  FedMex Here….

First and foremost, my sincerest apologies for taking so long to finally watch this film.  A very selfish college buddy of mine decided that he would get married the same weekend that Rise of the Planet of the Apes was released.  I was unfortunately on a plane while this film was gracing screens across the country, and as an enthusiast who actually owns the five original Planet of the Ape movies on VHS, I refuse to forgive my friend for acting like a proverbial monkey throwing his own feces and deciding that a future with a woman he loves was more important than Andy Serkis reprising his role as a digitized ape.

I can’t say I was ever a big fan of the Planet of the Apes series, and I certainly wouldn’t claim to have enjoyed Tim Burton’s misguided 2001 remake of the 1968 original. Having said that, I think there were some interesting ideas and the occasional burst of exciting storytelling in the five year (1968-1973) franchise. The first, starring Charlton Heston and directed by Franklin J. Schaffner (of Patton fame), was definitely the crown jewel. The best compliment I can pay Rupert Wyatt’s 2011 series reboot, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, is that I think the crown jewel is still to come.

Bryan’s Most Anticipated Films for 2011!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 7th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here…

So 2010 is over and 2011 has just begun.  I was recently talking with a friend and we both agreed that 2010 was kind of a let down as far as movies went.  Don’t get me wrong, there were some precious gems riddled throughout the year, but they were not many.  Basically I said, that it was a very uncool year with flashes of coolness in regards to films.

Danny Boyle’s New Film “127 Hours”

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 16th, 2010

Danny Boyle (28 Days Later, Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting, Sunshine, Millions) is hard at work in post on his new movie “127 Hours”. I have been hearing quite a bit about this movie.

“127 HOURS is the true story of mountain climber Aron Ralston’s (James Franco) remarkable adventure to save himself after a fallen boulder crashes on his arm and traps him in an isolated canyon in Utah. Over the next five days Ralston examines his life and survives the elements to finally discover he has the courage and the wherewithal to extricate himself by any means necessary, scale a 65 foot wall and hike over eight miles before he is finally rescued. Throughout his journey, Ralston recalls friends, lovers (Clémence Poésy), family, and the two hikers (Amber Tamblyn and Kate Mara) he met before his accident. Will they be the last two people he ever had the chance to meet?”

I’ve heard that at a few of the film festival screenings, people have passed out due to the graphic nature of one amputation scene. Danny Boyle has continued to give us one golden movie after another. He has tackled quite a bit of different genres from re-defining the Zombie genre to a psychological sci-fi thriller, to the academy award winning picture comedy/drama Slumdog Millionaire. Now he is going into the realm of factual based events with this Ralston Guy.

I cannot wait to see this movie. The movie comes out November 5th.

Check the trailer below.
