Oct/2020

The music or score of any film almost always adds a heightened level of excitement, sadness, horror, or any other emotion to the image on the screen. There is just something great about a good musical score that makes us bond and feel those glorious sentiments with the characters and stories in film. Pixar has done an incredible job of giving us some of the most iconic scores of all time that we still hum and sing on occasion. With all of these added emotions, it’s no pun that a movie about emotions called ‘Inside Out‘ has an incredible score by a fantastic composer named Michael Giacchino.

Michael is no slouch either when it comes to making an orchestra sound alive and full of action. With movies under his belt such as ‘The Incredibles‘, the ‘Star Trek‘ movies, and many other Pixar films, along with recent ‘Jurassic World‘ movies and ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story‘ – you know the music maestro knows what he’s doing. It’s great to have Mondo release the 45’ single of ‘Inside Out‘ with a couple of its main themes for fans of the film.

Film Review: ‘Inside Out’!!

by Bryan Kluger on Jun 18th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Inside-Out-2015-Disney-Movie

I’m a huge fan of Pixar and their animated films. They have changed the way films are made, and each movie since ‘Toy Story 1‘ in 1995 has been a success both critically and financially, making Pixar one of the biggest movie studios ever. Hell, all of the Pixar films combined have made over $9 billion (with a “B”) at the box office. That’s not to mention home video or merchandising sales. Since ‘Toy Story III‘ in 2010, there has only been three Pixar movies, all of which have been less favorited to Pixar’s previous films including ‘Wall-E‘, ‘Up‘, and the third ‘Toy Story‘ movie.

The world is fascinated with celebrity gossip both in film and sports. You can’t turn a page or watch a show without someone talking about these famous people’s personal lives. Within this culture, there is bound to be criminal activity and as we’ve seen with the entertainment industry and sports, there are quite a few nasty stories of prominent figures abusing and murdering people. I can point to O.J. Simpson as the classic tale of this situation, but we all know how that ended up. No, it’s with former NFL player Aaron Hernandez that takes the cake as it seems like no other prominent figure in sports had this much trouble and fell from a lucrative career as much as he did. Thanks to Netflix, we now have the fantastic three-episode true-crime documentary series Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron of Hernandez to give us more insight into what happened.

Film Review: ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’!

by Bryan Kluger on Jul 25th, 2018

Who would have thought that some 22 years later, we would still be getting ‘Mission: Impossible‘ films with Tom Cruise as the go-to guy in saving the world time and time again?  I definitely didn’t expect this, but I’m thrilled Tom Cruise and company continue to make these electrifying films that seem to up the ante and get better with each installment. Tom Cruise is 56 years old, which is 5 years older than Wilford Brimley was in the movie ‘Cocoon‘. Let that sit with you for a minute. What I’m trying to say is that Cruise doesn’t look nor does he act like a 56-year-old man. Instead, he looks and acts like a 25-year-old youngster with a death wish and penchant for the extreme and I believe every second of it, especially in this sixth film ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout‘.

Blu-ray Review: GET OUT!

by Bryan Kluger on May 25th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

NE2UEHKXb05S62_1_1

THE FILM

When you say the name Jordan Peele, you would most likely think of the brilliant comedic stylings of Key and Peele or Peele’s time on MadTV. You might even crack a big smile, thinking of Peele’s recent film Keanu. But I’m willing to bet you wouldn’t think of the words “horror maestro” when you see Jordan Peele’s name come across the screen. And that’s exactly what Peele can add to his resume résumé with his new movie Get Out, which he wrote and directed for the genre mogul Blumhouse.

Film Review: ‘TMNT2: Out of the Shadows’!

by Bryan Kluger on Jun 1st, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

maxresdefault

Coming off the last outing with these four lovable and iconic green characters, I wasn’t so sure about how much I was going to enjoy this sequel, ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows‘ or TMNT2 for short. The last film, which was a remake had a shoddy director and filmmaker Michael Bay at the helm. Needless to say, it was all about explosions and a sexy woman walking around with almost no attention to the turtles themselves. There were about ten whole seconds of the last film that I actually enjoyed, which was the fun scene in the elevator where we saw Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, and Leonardo beatboxing like kids, and when the doors opened, they put their ninja faces on to fight Shredder. That scene really showed what these new Turtles could actually be. So I hoped I would at least get twenty seconds this time around.

Hey guys, Jana here,

A titan of industry, Michelle Darnell,  is sent to prison after she’s caught for insider trading. When she emerges ready to rebrand herself as America’s latest sweetheart, not everyone she screwed over is so quick to forgive and forget. While this movie smacks of Martha Stewart, Miss Martha didn’t become a titan in the world of Girl Scouts, so there’s that.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Straight Outta Compton’!

by Bryan Kluger on Jan 26th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

91uy2gSHtrL._SL1500_

THE FILM

Music biopics are one of my favorite genres of film. I love seeing a musical artist or band portrayed on screen and their rise to fame, complete with how they came up with their platinum hits, warts and all. As of lately, we haven’t seen a ton of these biopics with the exception of the excellent ‘Love & Mercy‘ about Beach Boys member Brian Wilson. Most of the biopics usually focus on one person or a band and go up until they hit it big, but that’s not the case with ‘Straight Outta Compton‘, which is more of a bio-epic than a biopic. Instead of following one person, the film follows three main characters with a treasure trove of other superstar artists.

Check Out the Scary Trailer for ‘Demonic’!

by Bryan Kluger on Jan 8th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

demoni-james-wan-poster

There’s a new horror movie on the horizon from horror master James Wan (the guy who brought us ‘Saw‘, ‘The Conjuring‘, and ‘Insidious‘). Actually, Wan isn’t directing this new film called ‘Demonic‘, formally titled ‘House of Horror‘, but he is producing and co-writing. Will Cannon (whose resume is a bit on the short side) directed this scary little flick, which was supposed to come out December of 2014, but now has no current release date. We hope that changes, because this does look a bit frightening.

Film Review: ‘Alive Inside’!!

by Bryan Kluger on Jan 2nd, 2015

Paul N., Here….

o-MARY-LOU-ALIVE-INSIDE-facebook

Since the invention of medicine, people have struggled to heal the body, but what of the heart and soul? Alive Inside attempts to look at this seemingly forgotten mission with a touching look into healing through music. The film follows Dan Cohen, a social worker. Cohen is the founder of Music & Memory, a non-profit organization that is at the heart of this documentary. Cohen’s goal – to battle the healthcare system in order to show people the power of music to combat Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other memory loss diseases. Writer/director Michael Rossato-Bennett visits patients, family members, and various experts in the field of neurology.  Another notable appearance is made by singer/musician Bobby McFerrin, yes, that Bobby McFerrin.

Fan Days 2014: A Look inside The Show!!

by Bryan Kluger on Nov 3rd, 2014

Hey everyone! Your favorite multitasking, costumed wunderkind here

XSaFs.St.117

Prepare yourselves, for I have an excellent look back at Dallas Comic Con’s own Fandays, from October 17th-19th. First I would like to apologize for the delay in reporting, but you know, Halloween isn’t just one day. It’s a month long celebration of costumes and shenanigans, as well as my favorite time of year. Dallas Comic Con’s Fandays fell on the third weekend in October this year. The date was perfect for prime costuming parades as it fell so close to Halloween, many costumed attendees were ready for both events.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

wwe

The superstars were set. The lights and fireworks were bright and loud. And a giant sixteen-ton cage of steel was sharp, fierce, and ready for the carnage that was to take place inside. WWE’sHell in a Cell‘ 2014 (the sixth event of this caliber, but 30 matches total) was a force to be reckoned with. Blood was shed, title belts were on the line, chairs were slammed, tables were broken, and special appearances were made to a sold out crowd in Dallas, Texas at the American Airlines Center. A famous Beatle put it simply, “The Long and Winding Road“, which is a great lyric that could be used to describe the past several months of WWE.

What happens to Ghostbusters 3 Without Harold Ramis?

by Red Zeppelbon on Feb 28th, 2014

Jana B. here,

Harold Ramis

Harold Ramis gave us years and years of laughter that came to an end way too early. The entertainment world will also tell us of the void he left within their ranks. We, the fans are left questioning the future of ‘Ghostbusters III‘. Sony is still managing to keep ‘Ghostbusters III‘ on track, even though Ramis was to have made a cameo appearance. Ivan Reitman, who formerly directed the first two Ghostbusters films is scheduled to meet with the heads of production to form a game plan to keep it in active development.
