Reconstruction of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales

By Tuesday Shank

There are three types of movies in this world for me; bad movies (which I may or may not enjoy because of or despite of their badness), good movies, and movies that annoy me.  Movies that annoy me are the ones I obsess over.

Movies that annoy me tend to be “close but no cigar” to a good movie. They annoy me, because I wish the film had gotten the cigar. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is a movie that annoys the crap out of me.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales was intended to be a soft reboot of the series. It was supposed to introduce new characters in a similar environment and allow the series to have a “fresh start.”  The film had absolutely everything it needed to accomplish this task. Instead, the movie is a jammed pack, convoluted, dragging two-hour film.

The comedy favorite team of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have co-starred in some amazing flicks together, the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, consisting of ‘Shaun of the Dead‘, ‘Hot Fuzz‘, and ‘The World’s End‘. They’re not done with the film-making and Thank God for it!! The pair have their own film and TV production company titled Stolen Picture. The first film to break in the banner is ‘Slaughterhouse Rulez‘.

TV Show Review: ‘Ash vs. Evil Dead’ Ep. 2!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 6th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Ash-vs-Evil-Dead-main

Ash vs. Evil Dead‘ had such a perfect pilot episode, that it would be difficult to follow that up with something as good. Luckily for all of us rabid fans, the second episode titled ‘Bait‘ doesn’t lose any steam whatsoever and packs as much if not more blood, guts, and hilarious one-liners from Ash (Bruce Campbell) in this second episode. It’s no wonder that Starz has already given this series a second season. It’s that good.

‘Ash Vs Evil Dead’ Has A New Trailer!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 24th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

evil-dead

If there’s one thing we love here at Boomstick Comics, it’s news that deals with anything ‘Evil Dead‘ or Bruce Campbell. Luckily today, we got both, in that Starz released a new trailer for their upcoming series ‘Ash VS Evil Dead‘ starring the man god himself Bruce Campbell. We’ve written about this series so many times, whether it be casting, poster art, news, and trailers, and we will NEVER stop.

Angelic Heel Once More!

Wars were fought and won in spectacular fashion on WWE’s Battleground! The night was an intense emotional roller coaster that kept the WWE Universe guessing. The WWE Superstars brought everything in their arsenal to destroy their opponents and the results were amazing matches from all involved. But as always, all is fair when it comes to the wars fought in the squared circle, and the sins of the past would come back to haunt some while others dodged bullets. Did you miss Battleground (shown on the WWE Network)? No worries, your Angelic Heel has you covered!

Hey Deadites, Jana here,

evil-dead-movie-poster-small

Who hasn’t heard the age-old story of a couple of buddies heading out into the woods, evil woods, fumbling around looking for a cabin. Instead of a relaxing break from the mundane, they discover the ‘Necronomicon‘, or basically the ‘Book of the Dead‘. It’s not just a book in a dead language, there’s a taped translation of the text! How lucky could they be, right?! Instead of staying away from the creepy vibes that have to be emanating from this unholy tome, they do what a handful of morons would do and play the thing! Of course, this releases an evil so heinous that one by one the moronic teens are possessed until it’s down to one to defeat the evil dead and survive the night.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

juge-pierre-miche-la-french-jean-dujardin

You can mark another win for Drafthouse Films, the film company connected to The Alamo Drafthouse Theater chain. This past week  at the Cannes Film Festival, Drafthouse Films picked up a crime thriller called ‘La French‘ that stars Jean Dujardin and directed by Cedric Jimenez. And get this – Drafthouse bought the U.S. distribution rights after the people at Drafthouse watched an eight minute reel of the film. Not only that, but Jimenez was signed to one of the top talent agencies in Hollywoood, which is WME.

the-walking-dead-the-grove

This episode of ‘The Walking Dead‘ is one of the most shocking and heartbreaking of this season. We see a child break and find out secrets from the prison, which was heart-breaking. Tyrese, Carol and the three girls are still walking the tracks. During the walk, Carol comments on smelling a fire. They wind up at a house near the fire Daryl set. Milka kills her first walker and proves Carol wrong about her toughness. Lizzie has a meltdown at the house over Carol killing the walker she was playing with. It takes for some of the burned walkers to almost kill Milka for Lizzie to realize that the walkers are not her “friends” and that they do not want to “play”.

In this episode of ‘The Walking Dead‘, we finally get through most of the psychological issues that the characters had. There’s  some action and suspense in this episode, even a tiny bit of love.  Let’s get to it. The show starts out with Bob reminiscing back to where he was right before Glen and Daryl find him. He’s walking down a street alone when Daryl and Glen find him. Fast forward to present, Bob, Sasha and Maggie are in the fog fighting off walkers in a pretty cool scene. Sasha thinks that finding Glen is a lost cause and after going back and forth, they still continue to look for him. They see the sign for Terminus start walking there to find Glen. Sasha tells Bob how they need to set up camp and chill somewhere and the next morning, Maggie leaves them to do this alone. Bob and Sasha follow her.

TV-The Walking Dead

Ok, Walking Dead fans. Where do I begin on this recap? For those of you who watched the show, you are shaking your head as much as I did during it. For those of you who did not watch the show and will just read my recap, be prepared for the shortest recap in history. This entire show was focused around Beth and Daryl. They hunted down her first alcoholic drink and Daryl let go of his life before the apocalypse. That one scene was what made the whole boring show worth it.

Ok “Walking Dead” fans, I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of the same thing happening in every episode with only a few little things to report. The whole cast just needs to magically find each other and deal with their emotional problems soon, or I’m likely to to throw something at my television. With that being said, let us dive into this episode which I have just renamed to “The Escape From the Crap House.”

Hello Walking Dead fans!!! Now that the hiatus is over and Season 4 has begun, we can now see how everyone has dealt with the fall of the prison and the loss of their friends. This episode focuses on Rick and Carl and Michonne. All three of them are physically and emotionally spent and the entire episode revolves around them coping with their own feelings towards everything. The last scene of all three reuniting shows the tiny bit of light and happiness in the zombie apocalypse.
