Since ‘Pacific Rim 2‘ has been shelved indefinitely, Master of the Chiller, director Guillermo del Toro is circling his next project and it looks to be a remake of the 1960’s sci-fi series ‘Fantastic Voyage‘. del Toro is coming off his last picture, ‘Crimson Peak‘ released October of last year, it was moderately received despite the star power involved. So it looks like it’s time to go small, figuratively speaking, of course.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Filmmaker Guillermo del Toro (‘Hellboy‘, ‘Pacific Rim‘, ‘Pan’s Labyrinth‘) is returning to his Spanish roots by telling the kind of story he grew up living. His film, ‘Crimson Peak‘, is a gothic-romantic horror tale that will guarantee to scare the hell out of you, like a killer thriller should.

Hey guys, Jana here,

If you thought that the war between humankind and sea creatures of an egregious nature were over at the end of ‘Pacific Rim‘, you don’t get how movies are made today. Everything has an option for a sequel, but the biggest teaser for a next-in-line film is the small glimpse we got at the Kaiju’s realm when the package was delivered , detonated and killed everything, right? If it killed everything where would our sequel lead?

Alright YouTubers, listen up! If you want to make a real, honest-to-God film with professional cameras, this opportunity is just for you! Legendary Entertainment has entered into a working relationship with YouTube that is an entirely new approach to the film making world. The duo are collaborating on ‘YouTube Space House of Horrors: A Legendary Halloween’. It’s getting into the fall, leaves MIGHT be falling from trees, if you’re in the mid-west like I am, leaves are dying off of heat exhaustion, but no matter how it happens, fall is approaching. Where you get fall, you get Halloween.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Here it is folks.  The first actual trailer for Guillermo Del Toro‘s epic film ‘Pacific Rim‘.  This might be one of my most anticipated films of next year.  Everything about this looks amazing.  The film opens July 12, 2013 and stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Ron Perlman who operate giant robots to fight off a giant alien invasion on Earth.  Can’t wait.  Enjoy the trailer.

Hi, Bryan Here….

I really don’t understand why, but hell, this would be one awesome stage production with all the costumes and sets.  Guillermo Del Toro‘s ‘Pan’s Labyrinth‘ is being developed into a stage musical.  Don’t fret though, del Toro and Jeremy Ungar have written the stage version already with Paul Williams writing the lyrics to the songs.  Gustave Santaolalla, an Oscar winner is composing the score.  How cool is this.

Hi, Bryan Here….

I’m so psyched about this film.  Here is the first footage from Guillermo Del Toro’s epic film ‘Pacific Rim‘, which acts as sort of a viral marketing campaign for the movie.  This looks like a sort of CNN report warning civilians of giant Kaiju aliens.  And when I mean giant, I mean giant.  The film opens July 12, 2013, and I can’t wait.  Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Ron Perlman, Rinko Kikuchi and Charlie Day are in the film.

Hi, Bryan Here….

I think Guillermo Del Toro might just be the coolest guy on the planet, next to Tom Waits.  His new epic film ‘Pacific Rim’ is testing through the roof, we hear and Warner Bros. is so happy about it, they want Guillermo to make all their films.  Warner offered Guillermo to direct a feature adaptation of the tv series ‘V’ and a sequel to ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.  But we hear that Guillermo wants to do his own version of a film like ‘The Avengers’ or ‘The Justice League’.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Guillermo Del Toro announced today that a prequel to his upcoming sci-fi epic ‘Pacific Rim’ will be released in graphic novel form.  The film will be released on July 13 of next year and involves robots and monsters.  The graphic novel will come out under the Legendary Comics logo and will be set around 25 years prior to the film. It will cover the creation of the giant robots and pilots along with the technology they use in the film.

Hi, Bryan Here….

This is awesome news.  I am currently reading this trilogy right now.  I’m almost done with book two, and I have wanted a film or television adaptation of this book since I heard about it.  I think we got a small glimpse of it with ‘Blade 2’ as the vampire mutants are very similar to the vampire plague in this book, ‘The Strain’.  Carlton Cuse will head up the television show, which Cuse was a big part of ‘LOST’ and ‘The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.’   The series will be over at FX, which has only committed to a pilot, but I expect it to be brought to series fairly soon.  Del Toro will write, direct and executive produce the pilot.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Guillermo Del Toro’s epic film ‘Pacific Rim’ is receiving the up-convert to 3D. In past interviews with Guillermo about this film being 3D, he has always said it won’t be.  He did not want it to be 3D.  However, the scope of this film is supposed to be HUGE, and with 3D ticket prices higher than standard ticket prices, this film could make more money.  That’s probably what the studio execs are thinking.

Hi, Bryan Here…

We’ve talked about Del Toro’s Pacific Rim project before on the site.  We know it about humans driving enormous robots to fight off a bunch of giant monsters who have invaded Earth.  We also know that Charlie Day, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, and Charlie Hunnam are in the film.  It is slated to be released in the summer of 2013.  Well, now Warner Bros. have officially released the official plot synopsis to make us all giddy.

Hi, Bryan Here…

God news, everyone.  Guillermo Del Toro will co-direct ‘Pinocchio’ with Mark Gustafson.  The project will be a 3D stop-motion animated production of the Jim Henson Company.  Gustafson was the animation director on Wes Anderson’s ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’, so I expect this version of ‘Pinocchio’ to be similar.

Hi, Bryan Here…..

Praise be the zombie gods.  Director/producer Guillermo Del Toro (Hellboy/Pan’s Labyrinth) will produce and the talent at Reel FX a CG animated/live action version of ‘Day of the Dead’.  Guillermo will have his hands deep in this project with Jorge R. Gutierrez directing and co-writing the film.  Jorge is a director, painter, and illustrator mainly known for his work on Nickelodeon.  THe project hopes to release late 2014 according to Deadline.

Hi Bryan Here….

So following Guillermo’s work on ‘Pacific Rim’, he is in line to direct a re-imagining of ‘Beauty and the Beast’.  And Emma Watson (Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films) is in final talks to star.  In my eyes, Guillermo can do no wrong.  He is amazing.  How awesome will it be to see this done by the same guy who did ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ and ‘Hellboy’?

Hi Bryan Here…..

Legendary Pictures held a small panel today to promote a few of their upcoming films.  Most notably was Guillermo Del Toro’s much talked about ‘Pacific Rim’.  Director Idris Elbra said: “It is my duty to film the finest fucking monsters ever committed to the screen. And the greatest fucking robots ever committed to screen. That’s a pledge.”

Hi Bryan Here….

Guillermo Del Toro and Denise Di Novi are currently developing a re-imagining on the classic tale of ‘Beauty and the Beast’.  Denise also said that Harry Potter star Emma Watson is set to star as the “Beauty”.  There is no word yet on if Guillermo will be directing since he has about a dozen other projects going on and lined up.  It’s more likely he will be a hands on producer.  Can you imagine the tale of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ told by Guillermo Del Toro??  That would be spectacular.  The monster.  The Myth.  The Legend.  The Tale.  Toro is the perfect person for this job.

Hi Bryan Here….

“This movie was in mind for a PG-13, but I will say with great honor the non-negotiable R-rating from the MPAA, I wear as a badge of honor,” del Toro quipped before the screening. “Whatever they saw that they thought was ‘R,’ we didn’t want to cut. So I don’t know why, but it’s an R for ‘pervasive scariness.’”  How awesome is that??

Hi Bryan Here…

Recently, Guillermo’s huge epic film, “At The Mountains Of Madness”  he has been wanting to make was pulled by Guillermo at Universal for reasons that the studio wanted the film to be a PG-13, when Guillermo wanted the film to be an “R” rating.  The film was going to have a $150 million dollar  budget and have an “R” rating.

Guillermo del Toro has signed on to write and direct an animated picture for Dreamworks Animation called “Trollhunters”.  Now this is not to be confused with the upcoming mockumentary Norwegian film “Troll Hunter which you can find info about HERE.

Trollhunters is based on a forthcoming youth novel by del Toro.

Guillermo said in an interview, “ animation has caught his eye because he believes that during the next 10 years, the entertainment landscape will shift into a transmedia world — a confluence of movies, TV, books, video and online — and artists will need to be educated in all aspects of media.”

“Transmedia,” he said, “will not just be a buzz word.”

Anything by Del Toro, I am interested in.  This is one to keep your eye on.

Hi, Bryan Here….

chardee_macdennis

Just tons of FX news coming out today.  This is the third story on the network.  Please, no more until tomorrow unless it features Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘The Strain’ trilogy series.  But there is good news.  ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘, which is one of the funniest shows on television has been renewed for its 10th season while ‘The League‘ has been renewed for a 6th season.

IT CHAPTER 2 – 4K UHD Review!

by Bryan Kluger on Dec 11th, 2019

THE FILM

The second and final chapter of ‘IT‘ brings the adult renderings of Stephen King’s kid heroes to the forefront some 27 years later in ‘IT: Chapter 2‘, that stars Bill Hader, Jessica Chastain, and James McAvoy. This sequel runs in at three hours alone, making the two films over five hours long. Director Andy Muschietti has even said there is a 6.5-hour super-cut of the movie, which leads me to ask why this wasn’t released on a streaming format, due to its episodic nature and extensive time run. Still, this second chapter is entertaining enough but suffers from major flaws in pacing, redundancy, and trying to over-complicate things.

“Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is a painful and sloppy movie that I couldn’t wait until it ended.”

Those horror stories we used to read growing up that we picked up at our school’s book fair has finally come to the big screen. ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark‘, which is a series of short stories written by Alvin Schwartz has been adapted into a feature film. The filmmakers behind this are André Øvredal (‘The Autopsy of Jane Doe‘) and Guillermo del Toro, both of which bring weight to this project. These books have been a hit over the years where dedicated fans have yearned for a movie. With the talent behind this, I expected a top notch horror film, but what I got was a painful and sloppy movie that I couldn’t wait until it ended. I don’t exactly know where it went wrong, considering the amazing crew, but Øvredal and del Toro should’ve known better than to release something this bad to the public.
