Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn are ‘Snatched’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 7th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

There is a new trailer for a movie called ‘Snatched‘, which stars Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn as mother and daughter who vacation in the tropics together, but somehow end up “snatched” and kidnapped by some evil people. So Goldie Hawn came out of retirement to do this movie? It’s been 15 years since we last saw Goldie in a film, but I guess she is passing the torch to Amy Schumer here. The film is directed by Jonathan Levine who made ‘50/50‘, ‘Warm Bodies‘, and ‘The Night Before‘.

Film Review: Snatched!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 12th, 2017

Beka P., here….

So, Snatched won’t be winning any Oscars, but if you go in with incredibly low expectations, you can’t be that let down. It has some pretty funny parts, it has some first class actors (Amy Schumer is not one of them), and at the end of the day it’s a film about how much you need your mom and we can generally all get on board with that.

‘Overboard’ Gets The Reboot!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Mar 6th, 2017

Hey guys, Jana here,

This might just be my least favorite topic, but it’s news, so here goes. Another remake is ramping up, this time it’s the 1987 Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell rom-com, ‘Overboard‘. It’s not exactly ‘Gone With The Wind‘, but it is a Garry Marshall movie and it was a staple of my childhood and I don’t want to see it Frankensteined!!

Top 10 List of Reboots We Don’t Want To See!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 8th, 2014

Paul N., Here…

Like Bill Murray once said, “he’s got to be stopped. And I have to stop him.” You might have thought he was talking about a weather-predicting rodent, but no, he was actually talking about studio executives (the “he” is collective). Hollywood, like any business, is in it to make money. Therefore, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that they choose to rehash tried and true film formulas over and over again rather than take a chance on something new. While this is understandable (albeit infuriating), it doesn’t excuse the idea that EVERYTHING deserves to be re-made. Some films, like priceless art, should never be re-made and re-sold. Every time a classic film gets re-made, audiences hold their collective breaths and hope that it won’t be a straight shot in “the feels” (that nostalgic part of your brain that remembers, with fondness, all your pop culture favorites).

Michael “explosion” Bay is releasing his latest bastardization of 80’s culture unto the world in the shape of the beloved “heroes in a half shell”. In case you haven’t been following, this has been one cluster mess after another. From alien origins to white-washed villains, this movie begs the questions: “does Michael Bay hate the 80’s? Did he have some traumatically horrific experience with toys when he was a kid? Why does he have to take a giant dump on our collective fond memories time after time?”  Read the rest of this entry »

Hi kids, Jana here,

  Bibb County GA SHBP

If you’ve read much of what I’ve written before, I’ve led the band railing against movie remakes. Yeah, that’s me in the front with the baton and the megaphone. However, there are some films that it’s ok to remake. Doesn’t make it right, but it’s not one I’ll lose sleep over. The remake of ‘Point Break‘, ‘Roadhouse‘, ‘Ghost‘ and ‘Dirty Dancing‘ are all examples of films that do not need touched by anyone other than slight re-touching to make the colors more compatible with HD televisions. Basically anything Patrick Swayze was ever in should be kept sacred. I use ‘Swayze’ as a verb after all. No one ever gets their ass kicked, anymore – They get full on Swayzed. In short, don’t mess with the man’s films!!

‘Candid Camera’ Being Revived for TV Land!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Apr 12th, 2014

Hello, Jana here,

If you watched TV from any point in the late 40’s to to a few years ago, you probably saw, or heard the phrase “Smile, you’re on Candid Camera“. The  show, which was really the original reality show if you think about it, debuted in 1948 and ran until 2004. Obviously in that time there were different hosts and pranksters, but the premise remained the same, hidden cameras capture real reactions of ordinary people being confronted with unusual (to say the least!) situations.

Movie Quotes

See, when a nuclear weapon detonates it unleashes an electromagnetic pulse which shuts down any power source within its blast radius. Now that tends not to matter in most cases because a nuclear weapon usually destroys everything you might need power for anyway. A pinch creates a similar electromagnetic pulse, but without the fuss of mass destruction and death. So instead of Hiroshima, you'd be getting the seventeenth century.
