And the 2016 Golden Globe Nominees Are….

by Bryan Kluger on Dec 10th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

53fe9c57-1190-4d61-b197-fcda11fc89af

The awards show is January 10 on NBC hosted by Ricky Gervais. First off, let’s look at something AWESOME here. ‘MAD MAX: FURY ROAD‘ is nominated for BEST PICTURE. It needs to win. It should win. And if does win, we all go streaking. That being said…I can’t believe that ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl‘ was not nominated for anything. Come on. It’s one of the BEST films of the year. It’s also interesting to see no love for the final season of ‘Mad Men’ her either. Oh well.

Here is the list of nominees:

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

It’s 2015. A new year, and our first Podcast of 2015, which makes this Podcast #51. It’s been an excellent ride so far. For our 51st podcast, we were all sober and bright eyed to discuss Award season, meaning the recent Golden Globe winners and the recently announced Oscar nominations. We dive into each category, discussing snubs, surprises, deserved wins, and much much more. After the awards business, we discuss the 1990 film ‘Tremors‘ in a new segment we call “What If”, where we give you some fun trivia about the film and give a scenario of ‘What If’ ‘Tremors’ would have had different actors, a different rating, or a different director. It was a lot of fun.  We had Susan Kamyab from This Chix Flix , Adam Conway from Angelika Film Center, and Andrew Conway. It was a lot of fun to say the least. And please let us know what you think by going to our FACEBOOK page and TWITTER page, which you should visit to catch up on all the latest information. And don’t forget to visit iTunes and Stitcher to subscribe to our podcast. Enjoy the show and see you next week! Thank you for listening.

Hi, Bryan Here….

1355416686-golden_globe_awards

Here are the nominees for the 2014 Golden Globe Awards. Wow, there were a lot of snubs here. And how did ‘Rush‘ make the list for Best Picture? No way! And what about ‘The Way Way Back‘, ‘Mud‘, or ‘Short Term 12‘ not being nominated? For shame. Let me know what you think of this nominee list?

70th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Show

The speculation that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have signed to host the Golden Globes for the next two years is true. “Tina and Amy are two of the most talented comedic writer/performers in our business, and they were a major reason the Golden Globes was the most entertaining awards show of last season,” said NBC president of alternative and late night programming Paul Telegdy. “We’re elated they wanted to host together again and that they committed for the next two years.” After Poehler and Fey’s last run as hosts had positive reviews and 19.7 million total viewers and a six-year high for the show, the comedy duo is sure to give them another 2 years of greatness.

Hi, Bryan Here….

globes-drink

The Golden Globes were last night and Tina Fey and Amy Poehler killed it. They were amazing.  Even former president Bill Clinton showed up to talk about Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln‘.  Even though I really liked the film ‘Argo‘, I was shocked when it won best film and director for Ben Affleck. I was happy to see ‘Django Unchained‘ win for best supporting actor for Christoph Waltz and screenplay for Tarantino. If this is any pre-cursor to the Oscars, I’d be completely let down if ‘Argo‘ takes it all.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great film, but not the best film of the year.  I expect it to and want it to win the best adapted screenplay.  Just my opinion.  Below are the full results from last night’s show.

Hi, Bryan Here….

The nominations came in this morning and needless to say, I went into a fit of rage.  I mean I was so mad, I almost wrote a letter.  After going through the list of nominees, while some of the noms were well deserved, many were not, especially in the FILM categories.  There needs to be a serious uprooting process at the Golden Globes where everyone involved in voting needs to be replaced by others who know what they’re doing.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Two of the funniest actresses and comediennes, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will join forces and host the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards.  “Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year’s festivities is a major coup,” said NBC President, Paul Telegdy.

Will Ricky Gervais Host the Golden Globes?

by Bryan Kluger on Nov 15th, 2011

There is some speculation on this point. According to Gervais, NBC has invited him, but the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has yet to extend a formal proposal. Gervais has twice hosted the Golden Globes awards, but his blunt, equal-opportunity-slammer style does not appeal to everyone.

One of the most heart-warming movies of the year, ‘Wonder‘ is coming to 4K UHD, Blu-ray and Digital HD very soon. In fact, you’ll be able to watch the film digitally as soon as January 30th. Then on February 13th, you’ll be able to purchase the 4K UHD and Blu-ray Discs. Trust me, you’re going to want to his film in your collection. It’s that good. The 4K UHD Dis will feature Dolby Vision and HDR10 support, which is excellent. Bonus features include Audio Commentary, and quite a few behind the scenes featurettes on the making of the movie. I cannot wait for this one.

Dan Moran’s Top 12 Movies of 2017 Plus Extras!

by Bryan Kluger on Jan 4th, 2018

I saw 75 movies this year and I still have 3-4 left to finish up over the next few weeks. I haven’t seen The Post, Call Me By Your Name, or Phantom Thread yet. Phantom Thread is the only regret I have but it doesn’t come out until mid-January and I like to finish my list before first week of January ends. A few special awards before my top 12.

One of my favorite and Top movies of 2017 is coming to Blu-ray on January 23rd. Of course, I’m talking about ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer‘ from director Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster). The film stars Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, and Barry Keoghan. I have described this movie as a sibling to Stanley Kurbick’s film ‘Eyes Wide Shut‘, because of the glaring similarities. Not only is it similar, but it’s a damn good film that stays with you long after you watch it. There looks to be only one extra here and no 4K UHD release yet, but let’s hope that changes. I can’t wait to watch this again and  relive the awkwardness and suspenseful situations this movie delivers.

Jana’s Best of 2017!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 1st, 2018

Hey guys, Jana here,

I know these “Best of 2017” lists should technically be published in 2017, but why would I start 2018 any differently than I lived the majority of my adult life: Procrastinating and underachieving. What can I say? That’s my wheelhouse.

For a year that put a spotlight on some of the shittiest behavior by some of the Hollywood elite, it was actually a good year for TV and movies. I didn’t limit myself in number because as I moved on with the brackets, I felt like I was making ‘Sophie’s Choice‘ on some of these, so they’re all getting in! I’m feeling my inner-Oprah here, You’ve made the list! You made the list! EVERYBODY made the list!! In order to spare myself any arguments, I’m stating up front that my picks for the “Best of 2017” are not edited in regards to scandal or hideous human behavior.

If you’re like me, then you have grown to love filmmaker Christopher Nolan over the years. Come December 19th, most of his films will be released on 4K UHD for the first time ever. The films include the ‘Dark Knight Trilogy‘, ‘Inception‘, ‘The Prestige‘, ‘Interstellar‘, and the recent ‘Dunkirk‘. Each film will come with HDR as well, meaning a richer and deeper looking image for each movie. Each film will feature extras, the standard Blu-ray Disc, and Digital Copies of each movie. The whole collection will retail at about $150 with the ‘Dark Knight Trilogy‘ retailing at around $70. Of course with the holidays coming up, expect big discounts everywhere for these.

by Bryan Kluger on Aug 21st, 2017

Back in 1982, there was an Australian WWII film that was released that was called Attack Force Z. It starred the unknown actors Mel Gibson and Sam Neill, who both went on to be big blockbuster stars in Hollywood. You got to think that Gibson used his knowledge and memories on this film for his own movie Hacksaw Ridge. Now, the film is getting its Blu-ray release with a new 4K scan and new extras.
