FX Networks has more Marvel and X-Men news, this time it’s an 8-episode order to ‘Legion‘ starring Dan Stevens. Stevens is one of the most heart-stopping reasons to love ‘Downton Abbey‘ and he’s playing the titular male role in Disney’s upcoming ‘Beauty and the Beast‘. ‘Legion‘ is the first cable hosted series for Marvel, ABC hosts ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ and Netflix is home to four other comic-book shows.

FX is wading deeper in the Marvel world with the plan for ‘Legion‘, an X-Men-universe series from ‘Fargo‘ creator Noah Hawley who wrote the pilot and serves as executive producer. Marvel TV in cooperation with FX Prods will bring us the series based on the story of David Haller, the son of X-Men founder Charles Xavier and played by the dashing Dan Stevens (‘Downton Abbey‘, ‘Beauty and the Beast‘). It’s the week for casting news! There are constant announcements coming from everyone this week and why would Kurt Sutter’s name be left out? As if! (Yes, I totally went all ‘Clueless‘ there for a moment, but I’m back now.) Sutter’s latest series for FX, the same network that brought Sutter’s previous smash-series ‘Sons of Anarchy‘ to life, is coming back with another series, ‘The Bastard Executioner‘.

Season 2 of ‘Fargo‘ is gearing up to start filming soon for FX, and rest assured, I can’t wait. The first season, which was based on The Coen Bros. Oscar winning film in the 90s was excellent. The first season starred Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thorton, Colin Hanks, and Allison Tolman.

Tom Hardy Brings New Period-Drama Series To FX!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Nov 19th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

peaky-blinders

Any project that combines Tom Hardy, Steven Knight and Ridley Scott is going to be wildly successful and any network should count themselves lucky to have this series in their entertainment stable. FX is the lucky recipient of the newest period drama series from the trio. ‘Taboo‘ will be set in 1813, a 100 year difference from the setting for ‘Peaky Blinders‘. The pair of series have more in common than being allegiant to their setting, BBC will produce both, Tom Hardy is cast in both and Steven Knight created the pair.

Hey guys, Jana here,

from-hell-main

From Hell‘ may sound like the name of a Johnny Depp film from the early 2000’s and you would be right. What began as a 500 page graphic novel by Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell, then re-worked into a 20th Century Fox film starring Depp and Robbie Coltrane. There may be a bit of a detective vibe here but don’t expect a Sherlock-type reveal. Where Jack the Ripper was quite selective of his victims, the murders themselves created an equality among the classes with fear being the common denominator. Thus ends today’s master class in ‘From Hell‘.

Good news, everyone. FX has also announced that Louis C.K.’s award winning show ‘Louie‘ will indeed have a fifth season, but we won’t have to wait two years like this last time for them. We will get the fifth season less than year from now. “Louie’s fourth season was once again groundbreaking,” said FX Productions CEO John Landgraf. “Sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking – always thought provoking. The show went to narrative and cinematic places no comedy has gone before and we look forward to seeing what Louis comes up with next.”

Fargo‘ received an impressive 18 Emmy nominations, so of course FX renewed the show for a second season, which FX announced today at the TCA conference in L.A. ‘Fargo‘ will be back for ten episodes with an all-new cast, characters, location, and time period, and will be “based on a true story”. Hello, Jana here,

simpsons-family-couch

Which TV show has been on air for 25 years and has just been sold into syndication for a whopping $750 million? If you answered ‘The Simpsons‘ you were right. The newly announced sister network to FX, FXX is going to begin airing with the animated satire. If you’re starting a new broadcast and want to get viewer attention a series marathon is always a good way to do it. If you want the network to be talked about you plan a 12-day marathon that comprises 552 episodes. The high price-tag for the series will not only give network syndication rights, but a first time availability for on-demand viewing.
