Hey guys, Jana here,

Brothers Joel and Ethan Coen, writing and directing team that have amassed an immense following for films that are synonymous only by how off-center they are, have targeted their next project now that ‘Hail Caesar!‘ is on the back-legs of it’s journey in the production phase.

Hi, Jana here,

coens

If we were to talk about filmmakers that have a specific feel to their films there would be a wide variety of names on that list. But if we narrow the field down to filmmakers that are a wildly successful pair of brothers, Joel and Ethan Coen would undoubtedly fit the bill.

The Coen’s have a peppered legacy of complex films with ‘Raising Arizona‘, ‘Fargo‘, ‘The Big Lebowski‘ and ‘O Brother, Where Art Thou‘ among many others. Looks like the pair is not taking any time off from a career that has most recently been recognized with an Academy Award nomination for 2013’s ‘Inside Llewyn Davis‘. Universal Pictures has picked up ‘Hail, Caesar!‘ the latest original screenplay from the Coen’s. Besides writing the script, they will direct stars George Clooney and Josh Brolin in starring roles.

Hi Bryan Here….

Ethan Coen and Joel Coen are set to executive produce an hourlong single-camera comedy for Fox, which the two co-created with another feature writer, Phil Johnston (Cedar Rapids). The project, titled HarveKarbo, has received a script commitment with significant penalty from Fox.  How cool is this.  I wonder how hands on the Coens will be on this.

Hi Bryan Here…

The Coen Bros. recently sat down with EMPIRE MAGAZINE for an interview on True Grit, and as usual, the Coen’s were very vague and timid, when asked about upcoming projects.

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

the-oscars-thumbnail

The 89th Oscars were announced today. These are supposed to be the Best Achievements in Filmmaking on all levels. However, year after year, The Academy and “their infinite wisdom” choose to pick dull films that should never be nominated. In fact, I bet you could go through most of the Winners of each year and realize you only watched that film or performance once and never thought about it again. At least The Academy had a good bit of diversity this year, but other than that – these Oscar nominations are boring, dull, and made me go to sleep just watching the equally not-fun announcement telecast.

Here’s the New Trailer for ‘Hail, Caesar!’

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 12th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

hail-caesar

Coen Brothers fans, you can start getting even more excited, because the Coen’s new film ‘Hail Caesar!‘ is coming out next month. We have a new trailer for the film, which is all sorts of funny and takes place during the Golden Age of Hollywood. Instead of the usual quick cuts and one liners in a trailer, we have a nice long clip with Alden Ehrenreich and Ralph Fiennes. Fiennes is trying to teach Alden how to speak with a proper British accent, and is comedy gold.

‘Fargo’ Renewed for Second Season on FX!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 21st, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

fargo_tv_on_fx.0_cinema_1200.0

Fargo‘ received an impressive 18 Emmy nominations, so of course FX renewed the show for a second season, which FX announced today at the TCA conference in L.A. ‘Fargo‘ will be back for ten episodes with an all-new cast, characters, location, and time period, and will be “based on a true story”. This is awesome news, because I think ‘Fargo‘ replaced ‘Breaking Bad‘ for me. That’s how good the first season was.

The Coen Bros will be executive producing the project and will be written by Noah Hawley.  Hawley created ‘The Unusuals‘ and ‘My Generation‘.  We’ve written about this before HERE, and then we knew that FX had secured a deal, but we did not know that project had a greenlight for a limited series.

The Bishop Charlotte Reporting….

Steve Guttenberg has been missing from the screen for about twenty years. People actually believed he was dead. He had a good run in the 80’s, and then just kind of vanished. It’s not that he was gone, per se, he just was starring in movies that no one cared to see. And should not see. Ever.

It’s the song Joel and Ethan Coen made beyond famous in their 1998 cult film hit “The Big Lebowski”, all with the thanks to musician and producer T-Bone Burnett for plucking this gem out of near obscurity, and the absolute one song that has been on my ‘I-must-own-this-record-if-it’s-the-last-thing-I-ever-do’ list. It’s also the one song in the history of music that gives some shred of coolness and dignity to Kenny Rogers, despite the many terrible country cross-over songs we’ve been subjected to all these many years. “Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)” is the epitome of awesome regardless of where it’s been or who has sung it.
