#Ash4Emmy Jump On The Bruce Campbell Bandwagon!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jun 9th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

bruce-campbell-emmy-ad

We’ve all been inundated with bids for our votes lately, national politics, school board nominees and now…the Emmy’s? I’m getting sick of the ads and the smear campaigns that are prevalent everywhere and I don’t want to see another candidate stumping – except this one. Bruce Campbell makes everything groovy, including vying for an Emmy nomination.

Hi, Bryan Here….

FantasticFour_Head

We knew that Fox was rebooting their ‘Fantastic Four‘ franchise for some time now. The last two ‘Fantastic Four‘ films were both pretty awful, so it is only fitting that we get a new vision of one of Marvel’s greatest super-hero teams. Josh Trank is directing, which his claim to fame was the ‘found footage’ super-hero film ‘Chronicle‘. I think this is a good fit for him. And the only person attached to the movie so far is actor Michael B. Jordan (‘Fruitvale Station‘).

2012 Emmy Award Winners!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 24th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Below is the list of the winners for the 2012 Prime-Time Emmy Award Winners.  I don’t  see how ‘Modern Family’ and ‘Two and Half Men’ win anything.  They shouldn’t win any kind of award when they go up against shows like ‘Mad Men’, ‘Game of Thrones’, and ‘Breaking Bad’.  The Emmy judges need to be fired and never allowed to pick winners ever again.  However, much congratulations to ‘Homeland’, ‘Downton Abbey’, Aaron Paul, ‘Veep’, and ‘American Horror Story’

Film Review: ‘Oklahoma City’!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 7th, 2017

Hey guys, Jana here,

Oklahoma City‘ is a documentary about the tragic bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City in 1995. It comes from writer/director Barak Goodman (‘American Experience‘, ‘Frontline‘) and was nominated for an Emmy along with the other producers on the project, Emily Singer Chapman, Mark Samels (a previous winner of several Emmy’s and three times as many nominations), and Susan Bellows (also an Emmy winner and multiple time nominee). PBS aired the doc at the earlier part of 2017 but it made the festival circuits this summer and was an Official Selection for the 2017 Sundance Film Festival where it met positive reviews.

Soundtracks we want to see released on Vinyl!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 15th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

preview

I just love soundtracks to movies. I always have and I believe I always will. There is something about a score to a film that just perks me up in all the right ways and inspires my creative side, whether it be to write a screenplay or go back an watch that old film I love. Music is an integral part to films and is considered to be the mojo of every movie. I’m sure we’ve all seen that odd YouTube video of the final scene in Star Wars: A New Hope, where Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Chewbacca walk down a crowded arena to receive their medals to zero music. It’s super weird and awkward with no music, but just random sound effects of footsteps and a rare cough, laugh, and Chewie’s roar. John Williams did such a great job, as he always does with Star Wars music, but that final scene of music really puts your emotions on full blast. It’s all from the soundtrack too.

Film Review: ‘Roseanne For President’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 29th, 2016

That laugh. That iconic friggin’ laugh. It’s been awhile. Maybe I’m out of touch with culture, which I don’t think I am, but I have not heard that laugh in so incredibly long. Immediately, I think back to my childhood and the interior of the Connor house, not too far off from my own at the time. The sound of that nasally chuckle takes me back like a song. (*Joel proceeds to smash a Smashmouth record*) Side note on being “taken back”, did anyone else grow up thinking the show “Dinosaurs” was a story-arch/dream-sequence within the Roseanne show? Top 10 Soundtracks We Want To See Released on Vinyl!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 13th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

say-anything

Many of you might already know that I love listening to movie soundtracks. I always have. Since I was a little tyke who could barely see over a counter, I was infatuated with movie scores and soundtracks, particularly the ‘E.T.‘ original motion picture score and the ‘Beverly Hill Cop‘ soundtrack. From there, my love and passion grew for all types of music. My parents had a pretty good record collection that included all three original ‘Star Wars’ albums, ‘The Wizard of Oz‘, and ‘Star Trek I and II’ to just name a few. Throughout the years, I now have a fun record collection that spans all genres of music from Frank Zappa to Rage Against the Machine, from R.L. Burnside to The Pixies, and so on. Along the way, digging through the dirty stacks of crates at local record shops and estate sales, I became hell bent on having one of the best Soundtrack collections. And over the past several years, I’ve been lucky enough to acquire some very sought after albums. But there are still so many soundtracks that have never found their way to vinyl, either commercially or ever really. So here is a list in the hopes that maybe Varèse Sarabande, Mondo, or Death Waltz will consider releasing these albums in the near future.

Fox Renews ‘Bob’s Burgers’ For A Sixth Season!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 8th, 2015

Hey guys, Jana here,

bobs-burgers (1)

Bob’s Burgers‘ is one of Fox’s animated series that hasn’t made as huge of a splash as counterparts ‘The Simpsons‘ or ‘Family Guy‘, but has still developed a loyal following, especially among Fox and 20th Century Fox TV big boys. It’s rare that a TV series makes it to a 6th season anymore, but to be an animated comedy making it to a 6th season is a huge milestone!

‘Game of Thrones’ Heading TO IMAX!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 6th, 2015

Hey guys, Jana here,

TV is never going to be the same again. HBO is taking to the big screen, not that big screen, IMAX big screens. No, it’s not another ‘Sex and the City‘ movie, in fact it’s not a feature film at all. You read that right, it’s the network’s most talked about series ‘Game of Thrones‘.

Scorsese and HBO Re-Team For Montezuma-Cortes Series!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Nov 19th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

PicMonkey Collage

Back in January there was talk of Steven Spielberg and Javier Bardem heading toward a script written by Steve Zaillian. Zaillian expertly took ‘Schindler’s List‘ from a novel and created a sweeping, gut-wrenching film that was lauded by critics and peers alike. The script in question was to showcase the murderous history of Cortes and Montezuma. Neither Bardem  nor Spielberg were officially attached to the project and if it is still in progress, it’s doing so quietly.

Neil Patrick Harris Bringing Variety Show To NBC!!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Oct 27th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

neil-patrick-harris-the-out-list-hbo

Depending on your age, when you hear the name Neil Patrick Harris, you either think of ‘How I Met Your Mother‘, or like me, it’s ‘Doogie Howser, M.D.‘ A 16 year old NPH stole the collective heart of girls everywhere when he played the prodigious child doctor. From that day forward, Harris would be a steady presence on TV. He appeared in numerous one-off series and made-for-TV movies that kept him in front of a camera just enough to make us want more. In addition to earning a spot that would cement his name, once again, in the annals of hit series with ‘How I Met Your Mother‘, he lent his voice to multiple animated ventures. NPH’s ever evolving resume led to a singing role as the title character in Joss Whedon’sDr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog‘. The thespian has hit the boards on Broadway in between his recorded projects and his most recent theatre stint was the titular part in ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch‘ where he drew rave reviews from even the most staunch critics. Hedwig is now being played by Michael C. Hall.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Untitled-5_0

“Hello, IT. Have you tried turning it off and on again?” If you recognize that line, you will probably be excited about the idea of a remake. I’m talking about ‘The IT Crowd‘, of course. NBC has given a put pilot commitment to the reimagining of a sitcom that aired for 5 seasons. Technically, the show ran for four series of six episodes each, a fifth series was commissioned it was concluded with a one-off episode that aired last year. For those that are unfamiliar with the term “put pilot”, it is an agreement that the host company, NBC in this instance, will air the pilot episode basically ensuring that the serial will be picked up. If the network declines to air the pilot, they will owe a fairly large amount of money to the studio.

Hey guys, Jana here,

ryanmurphy

What do ‘Glee‘, ‘American Horror Story‘ and ‘Nip/Tuck‘ all have in common? If you guessed the same creator, I saw you look it up, but you’re right! Besides being the Emmy Award-Winning mind behind the shows, he wrote and directed various episodes of those, as well. Ryan Murphy is a good name to bet on in the game of innovative TV series because he is still a wild card in the game. Coming at a time where numerous movies are being greenlit for adaptation to the small screen, an original idea is pure money.

Hey guys, Jana here,

hemlock-grove

If you haven’t watched ‘Hemlock Grove‘, yet, you’re missing out…or you just don’t have Netflix, either way, you’re missing out!  This series grips you from the first scene and it’s not let up in the two seasons it’s been exclusively on Netflix. In an unsurprising turn, the VOD company has renewed the original series for a 10-episode third season that’s heading out way in 2015.

The twice Emmy nominated thriller has some pretty decent star-power filling out its ranks. Famke Janssen, Bill Skarsgard and Dougray Scott are all featured. Janssen, best known from her days as Jean Grey in the original ‘X-Men‘ franchise, but has come into her own, shall we say, inner-bitch. Her characters are always underhanded, evil or they just want to eat children as in the case of ‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters‘ Oh! Don’t forget her absolute lack of concern for her daughter in ‘Taken‘. I adore Liam Neeson, but that movie-wife wanted to carry the testicles of every man she hooked up with in her perfect designer bag.

Few things entertain me more than a good serial killer book/movie/TV show. I know, it’s a strange interest to have, but this is one of the milder interests of mine. We’ve heard about the Charles Manson slayings going into production for a series with Rob Zombie involved, this time it’s another killer that is getting the mini-series treatment.  David Berkowitz, Son of Sam, the .44 Caliber Killer – whatever you want to call him, he’s the next topic for a mini treatment.

James Van Der Beek has come a long way from being the whiny Dawson, the boy with his own creek. JVDB has tried to maintain his TV presence with parts here and there or in a few shows as the star. ‘Don’t Trust The B—- in Apartment 23‘ was an entirely ridiculous plot with JVDB playing himself and ‘Friends With Better Lives‘ did not hold widespread appeal to fans or advertisers and it was canceled. Some people might slink off into the unknown depths after a couple of failures, but you don’t know JVDB apparently. HBO Eyes Stars For ‘True Detective’ Season 2!!!

Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson have a loyal and already won over group of fans that followed them to the gritty series. Hi everyone, Jana here,

Bryan Cranston

When you take a multi-faceted actor like Bryan Cranston, his many hats show throughout his career. You’ve got the spineless, browbeaten dad, Hal from ‘Malcolm in the Middle‘, the absolutely brilliant, frightening, genius that is Walter White from ‘Breaking Bad‘. Then you turn-around and he’s in the ‘Rock of Ages‘ musical whaling out Pat Benatar’s ‘Hit Me With Your Best Shot‘. He does some fantastic voice-over work for animated productions. Remember the 6-episode of the animated version to ‘Clerks‘? Chances are if you’ve seen that, you’ve heard Cranston’s voice ( you also understand Jay’s saying “we steal monkeys all the time!” in a later film), but I digress. PLUS!!!  Don’t forget that he’s a bad boy with the roller skates! Remember that episode in Malcolm where he had a big skate scene? That was really him doing it! He’s a renaissance man. The real deal. So it shouldn’t be such a surprise that after Cranston wrapped with ‘Breaking Bad’ that he went straight to Broadway.

If you’re looking for a successful name in the industry, look no further than Jay Roach. He began his directing career in 1990 and has been a top name for comedy since then. He is the man responsible for the three ‘Austin Powers‘ films, ‘Meet the Parents‘ and my favorite, ‘Meet the Fockers‘. In 2008 Roach began a working relationship with HBO with the movie ‘Recount‘, the film got into the details of the aftermath of the 2000 U.S. presidential election between Al Gore and George W. Bush, which led to Roach winning two Emmy’s and resulted in another Emmy-winning HBO movie, ‘Game Change‘. Roach may have moved away from the election debacle, but a new partner of his is still rather close to it.

Mary-Louise Parker Returning to Primetime!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Mar 6th, 2014

Hello, Jana here,

mary-louise-parker

I was worried after the final season of ‘Weeds‘ aired that I would not get my weekly dose of Mary-Louise Parker ala Nancy Botwin any longer. Looks like I have been worried for nothing. NBC has successfully courted Parker’s involvement in a comedy that will pilot this fall, ‘Feed Me‘. The project is described as a comedic exploration of adult intimacy and desire that centers on a dysfunctional family bound by love and the restaurant they run together. Parker will play the lead, Ellen, a slightly OCD wife, mother of two and accountant who is stuck in her ways and whose approach to life is a challenge for those around her, including her husband, parents and brothers, most of whom are in the restaurant business. I think TV has shown us that they will never make a movie on a ‘normal’ family, mainly because ‘normal’ is subjective and if you look closely, every family is dysfunctional. So they could probably just start stating that it’s a show about a family in the restaurant biz.

The entire series was released on Netflix a year or so ago, so it was only a matter of time before it got a phsyical release. But it looks like there is no Blu-Ray release scheduled. Most of the original music will be in tact, which was  the major factor of it not being released on home video all these years, since it’s soundtrack contains tons of Beatles music amongst others.  It was just too expensive. This is exciting news. I hope there are some great extras and I hope there is a Blu-Ray release soon.

After all, there are only so many ‘David’s’ a girl can love.  While David Tennant takes up most of my space, David Copperfield occupies a portion. Anyhow, as I was saying.

Movie Quotes

Lance:
You're going to give her an injection of adrenaline directly to her heart. But she's got, uh, breastplate...
[taps Mia's chest]
Lance:
So you gotta pierce through that. So what you have to do is, you have to bring the needle down in a stabbing motion.
[demonstrates]
Vincent Vega:
I-I gotta stab her three times?
Lance:
No, you don't gotta fucking stab her three times! You gotta stab her once, but it's gotta be hard enough to break through her breastplate into her heart, and then once you do that, you press down on the plunger.
Vincent Vega:
What happens after that?
Lance:
I'm kinda curious about that myself...
