I love a good book adaptation, but first, I love the novel. The next book I have to add to my download list, besides Michael Punke’sThe Revenant: A Novel of Revenge‘, is ‘The Good Lord Bird‘ written by James McBride. This adaptation brings in big talent from Liev Schreiber (‘Ray Donovan‘,  and Jaden Smith (‘The Karate Kid‘, ‘After Earth‘).

Film Review: ‘The Bye Bye Man’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 12th, 2017

Fernando M., here….

MV5BMTA0MTU5Mzc3MjheQTJeQWpwZ15BbWU4MDQwMzQ0MDAy._V1_UX477_CR0,0,477,268_AL_

Let me set this stage.  We open on a scene in 1969 involving a guy that has obviously snapped and is muttering, “don’t think it – don’t say it – don’t think it – don’t say it.”  Pretty good setup, huh?  Then it moves to three teenagers in a creepy house.  Not bad huh?  Then the teenagers are having a party, where one of them has a big brother that has a family that for some reason comes over to this college party with a bunch of underage drinkers, and also he brings a five year old.

Film Review: ‘The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 5th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

second-best-exotic-marigold-hotel

It’s been four years since the charming occupants first stepped into the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, and I’m here to tell you, that they are all still doing well. Director John Madden and his writer Ol Parker are back for this second trip to India with more or less the same tropes and conflicts from the first outing. ‘The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel‘ won’t change the game or genre, but it’s still filled with enough charm and laughs to satisfy you through its 122 minute run-time. If you’re new to this film franchise, the first film, ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel‘ focused a young guy named Sonny (Dev Patel) who opened up a pleasing and beautiful small hotel in the heart of India.

Film Review: ‘Ouija’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 24th, 2014

Beka P., Here….

Screen-Shot-2014-07-16-at-12.35.36-PM-620x400

Have no fear, there is nothing scary about Ouija. I was pretty apprehensive about going to see Ouija, mainly because I’m not a horror film gal, and confession: I’ve never seen one in a theater. These two things brought my level of anxiety to all time high as I walked into the theater. Fifteen minutes into the movie, I actually found myself laughing. It’s not that writers Juliet Snowden and Stiles White meant to be funny, rather the acting in combination with the screenplay was so pathetic you had to laugh. While I was relieved that nightmares weren’t in my future, I didn’t care at all about finding out what happened to Debbie (played by Shelley Hennig).

Hey guys, Jana here,

American_Psycho_Musical

Ever hear of two things that shouldn’t go together but end up working? A bit of chocolate in your homemade chili, Kevin Youkilis  as a Yankee, Catherine ZetaJones and Michael Douglas? OK, well maybe not them so much, anymore, but you get my point. ‘American Psycho‘ – the book by Bret Easton Ellis that made a 2000 movie with Christian Bale, evolved into a musical? Yup, you read that one right. Off-Broadway theater company, Second Stage is going to present the U.S. premiere. This has been discussed and debated, but ultimately it’s happened and coming to America next!
