Joe Pilato, Terry Alexander and Jarlath Conroy all starred in a George Romero’s horror staple “Day of the Dead.” They set the standard for so many future zombie movies (Shaun of the Dead, Zombieland, and Return of the Living Dead to name a few. Not to mention AMC’s hit show The Walking Dead) and are innovators of their time. They worked with the godfather of zombie horror George Romero, as well as special effects master Tom Savini. Recently they reunited at Fan Expo Dallas to talk with Amanda Rebholz of Morbid Curiousity Magazine and share what it was like to be a part of horror history!

Romero’s ‘Day of the Dead’ Is Getting Remade!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 25th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

Day_of_the_Dead-1

In some unfortunate news, the execs over at Millennium Films, think it would be a good idea to remake a classic zombie film. In particular, George Romero’sDay of the Dead‘ with Mark Tonderai set to direct. This will be a modern day telling of the 1985 film and is the second time they’ve remade this. Just leave it alone.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

deadpool-and-colossus-movie

“Negasonic Teenage… what the shit? That’s the coolest name ever!” The GEEK DEAL OF THE DAY is the Blu-ray of the upcoming ‘Deadpool‘. This Blu-ray comes with a ton of bonus features, some high quality video and audio presentations, and the option to watch in 4K, if you purchase that option. This is one of the better Marvel films and was something different for the studio that usually brings the PG-13 rating for the whole family. That wasn’t the case with ‘Deadpool‘, as it’s a hardcore R rating and just succeeds on every level. This is the Blu-ray you’ll want to own and for right now, it’s less than $20.00. It’s normally double that.

‘Deadpool’ Delivers Two New Trailers for the Holidays!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 25th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

deadpool1-gallery-image

This holiday season, ‘Deadpool‘ has been giving us a ton of promo videos for his new movie and this new brand new trailer. Or shall I say, trailers (plural). These ‘Deadpool‘ trailers show us a good deal of new footage with better glimpses of Colossus and other characters. This will be very different for Marvel and I just know it will do well, despite this being a rated ‘R’ movie. Enjoy the holiday and watch these two ‘Deadpool‘ trailers. One is the Green Band trailer and the other is the NSFW Red Band trailer with tons of fun moments.

Film Review: ‘Happy Death Day’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 12th, 2017

Written By: Fernando Martinez

Ok, let me start off by saying that “Happy Death Day” is not a great movie., although there are a lot of great things about it.  However, given the genre, I had a fantastic time watching it.  Although it feels more like an extended episode of whatever show is on the CW now, this horror/drama/comedy packs its fair share of good fun.

Written By Bryan Kluger:

THE FILM

(This film review portion was written by Dan Moran.)

The fifth installment of Disney’s nearly $4 billion dollar franchise is a Pirates movie through and through. It is about 20 minutes too long, has a needlessly complex plot, fantastic action set pieces, and way too many characters. I found it to be a real roller coaster viewing experience, where some points I was loving every single second of what was on screen and others I wanted to check my phone to see how much longer was left. There were no scenes in this entire movie that I was just ‘Ok’ with. I was either loving it or tolerating it. When it was all over I was pleased with the ending and, more importantly, that it ended.

Favorite Movie Scene of the Day #17!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 4th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

This scene cracks me up every time I see it, and I’ve probably seen it over 250 times. Before Trey Parker and Matt Stone became household names, rich, famous, and award winners for South Park and Book of Mormon, they made a tiny independent comedy film called Orgazmo. This was their second film after the college movie Cannibal: The Musical.

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

The Walking Dead really brought zombies into the mainstream, mostly from its AMC series that is still going strong and is one of the most watched cable series ever. Back in 2003, Robert Kirkman began writing the comic books the TV series is based on. Cut to present day, there are currently 169 issues. At San Diego Comic-Con, Kirkman announced that he is finally ending the comic book series. He didn’t give a date yet, but it will be soon and has had the idea for a while now.

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

It looks like Disney is releasing more in 4K UHD since they announced their first 4K release with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 the other day. I expect the flood gates to open up real soon, which means, Pixar, 2D animated classics, Marvel, and LucasFilm releases will be coming out in 4K. Bittersweet news, I know. Sweet, because it will look amazing in 4K finally. Bitter, because the wallet will take a big hit. Expect to purchase the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales‘ in 4K UHD on October 3rd with the digital version releasing on September 19th.

Favorite Movie Scene of the Day #3!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 22nd, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

Annie Hall + Diane Keaton + khakis

I love Woody Allen movies and I imagine there will be quite a number of scenes in this column from his films. The first one comes from Annie Hall though. This scene just speaks to me so much and I think it’s a perfect capture of two people who were once in love, but still want to be in each other’s lives, even if it can be a bit awkward. Finding something to talk about to pass the uncomfortable time, or seeing new things in your former significant other’s place that make you question what new things they’re into now that you’re gone is delightfully funny to watch.
