DC Announces its next movie will be Shazam!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 20th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

The cat is out of the bag. The next big movie in the DC Cinematic Universe will be Shazam!, which is a story about a boy who transforms into the mightiest mortal on Earth. Filming should begin at the start of 2018 and will release the following year. They even have a director now, which is David F. Sandberg – a horror filmmaker. Sandberg made Lights Out and the upcoming Annabelle: Creation, according to THR. That’s pretty much it. Now he’s getting a big comic book franchise. It’s exciting for sure and judging by Lights Out, I’m sure he’s more than capable.

Film Review: ‘Lights Out’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 21st, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

lights-out-1200x630-c

So far there have been several good horror movies for the year 2016. Next up on the list is ‘Lights Out‘ from first time feature film director David F. Sandberg. This is one of those movies that was actually a short film that was then made into a feature film, which is always fun to see the differences. ‘Lights Out‘ conjures up some decent scares and even made me sleep with the light on.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Lights-Out-2016

Documentary and short segment pro David F. Sandberg has adapted his 2013 short film ‘Lights Out‘, which ran for two minutes, as a feature and we’ve got the first trailer for it. The short gained viral status the year it debuted so a longer version of the concept was a natural next step.

Shazam! – 4K UHD/Blu-ray Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 29th, 2019

It’s easy to see that the executives at Warner Bros. and DC Comics have been listening to the fans in wanting funnier and more light-hearted superhero films after the super dark and very adult previous films. With ‘Aquaman‘, they literally threw in everything and the kitchen sink into that film to bring a wild, chaotic affair that was silly, yet fun in a “so bad it’s good” kind of way. There is much more of a balance with ‘Shazam!‘ and dare I say it in my most impressive imitation of WWE’s The Rock – “Finally! DC has made a fun movie!” I stand by that statement too as an odd choice in director David S. Sandberg (‘Lights Out‘ and ‘Annabelle: Creation‘) took his cues from Tom Hanks‘ 1980s film ‘Big‘ and made a large budget superhero movie out of it, set in the universe of The Justice League. Everyone in the film looks to be having a great time on screen with their respective characters and it transfers to smiles and laughs in its audience.

Hi, Bryan Here….

The Toronto Film Festival is coming up quickly and it looks like it is going to be one for the books.  ‘Looper’ is going to open up the festival with several other centerpiece films that strike my fancy.  Two of them include Joss Whedon’s Shakespeare film ‘Much Ado About Nothing’, and Terrence Malick’s new film, ‘To The Wonder’.  Can’t wait.  Below is the official press release.  Who’s going? Piers Handling, CEO and Director of TIFF, and Cameron Bailey, Artistic Director of the Toronto International Film Festival, made the first announcement of films to premiere at the 37th Toronto International Film Festival. Films announced include titles in the Galas and Special Presentations programmes. The announced films include 17 Galas and 45 Special Presentations, including 38 world premieres.
