Film Review: Dan Dream!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 26th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

From the creative duo that brought us ‘Klovn’ and ‘Klown‘, comes their next twisted comedy with a ton of heart called ‘Dan Dream‘, that tells the true life story of the world’s first electric car. If you’ve ever had the privilege to watch ‘Klown‘, then you know about the off-beat humor of the Danish team Casper Christensen and Frank Hvam have owned since they stepped into the film world. With their silly bodily humor, they still manage to tell engaging and heart felt stories. Dan Dream is no different and has shades of ‘Little Miss Sunshine‘ throughout. Casper and Frank, who also star in the film, have perfectly captured this small moment in history with all its glory and warts in their unique brand of of comedy that includes butts and poop.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

I had the extreme pleasure to sit down with the iconic actress Blythe Danner and great director Brett Haley and discuss their latest film ‘I’ll See You In My Dreams‘. We discuss how much fun they had on set, the screenplay, and what their favorite scenes in film were, which Blythe gives an excellent answer. See the film.

Dan Moran’s Top 12 Movies of 2017 Plus Extras!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 4th, 2018

I saw 75 movies this year and I still have 3-4 left to finish up over the next few weeks. I haven’t seen The Post, Call Me By Your Name, or Phantom Thread yet. Phantom Thread is the only regret I have but it doesn’t come out until mid-January and I like to finish my list before first week of January ends. A few special awards before my top 12.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Coming June 30 from Dreamworks is ‘Despicable Me 3′, and oh my gosh it looks hilarious! Featuring the voices we’ve come to love Kristen Wiig, Steve Carell, Miranda Cosgrove, Trey Parker and Russell Brand, it already sounds hilarious before the trailer, right?! Now where can I get into a good dance-fight? Hmmm.

Film Review: ‘I Dream Too Much’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 20th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

vasuma_new_profile

It’s not too often that we see a “coming-of-age” film that features an almost all female cast. Usually, the coming-of age movies center around boys or young men. If and when women are the center focus, it usually involves some sort of relationship or romance with a guy. Refreshingly and fortunate for us, Texas filmmaker Katie Cokinos flips the genre on its ear with ‘I Dream Too Much‘, which focuses on a college-bound young woman who discovers herself, while staying with her great aunt in upstate New York.

Hey guys, Jana here,

FX is wading deeper in the Marvel world with the plan for ‘Legion‘, an X-Men-universe series from ‘Fargo‘ creator Noah Hawley who wrote the pilot and serves as executive producer. Marvel TV in cooperation with FX Prods will bring us the series based on the story of David Haller, the son of X-Men founder Charles Xavier and played by the dashing Dan Stevens (‘Downton Abbey‘, ‘Beauty and the Beast‘). Stevens joins a cast that also features Aubrey Plaza, Jean Smart and Rachel Keller.

Film Review: ‘I’ll See You In My Dreams’!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 21st, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

cdn.indiewire

It’s rare that a movie hits all the emotional notes in a genuine way, rather than hitting you over the head repeatedly, telling you how you should feel. Fortunately for us, the former is true with ‘I’ll See You in My Dreams‘, which is a small indie dramedy by director Brett Haley, which has iconic actress Blythe Danner play one of her best roles yet. Haley uses a soft touch throughout the film as we see new beginnings from people not to far from the end. There are a ton of funny moments with enough subtle drama that mixes into a perfect pie by the end of the film that leaves you wanting more.

Dance Review: ‘MOMIX: Alchemia’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 13th, 2014

Janet W., Here..

2030-fitandcrop-660x365

While set to an ethereal melody, the retractable chandelier ascended into the ceiling to create a starry sky.  Showtime.  The sky dimmed, the music came up and then a spotlight shone on an abstract image on a black curtain, which appears as wood chips on fire, in reds, oranges, and browns ablaze.  This perception changed over the journey that is Alchemia.

Hi Jana here,

Director Cary Fukunaga arrives at "Celebrate Sundance Institute" the Sundance Institute's inaugural benefit in Beverly Hills, California

Dreamworks is bringing in scribe Scott Silver to adapt the previously unpublished novel ‘Noble Assassin‘ by Paul Kix for a full-length film. Silver has written some memorable films like ‘8 Mile‘ and 2010’s ‘The Fighter‘. Cary Fukunaga director of HBO’s first season of ‘True Detective‘ will direct. He is also set as the director for the remake of one of my childhood favorites ‘IT‘. I’m going to be scouring his work looking for signs that will show either good or bad for the future of Stephen King’s quintessential tale of disappearing kids and the horror that lurks under the town of Derry, Maine.

Hi, Bryan Here…

babadook

I’ve been eagerly awaiting a new horror film that will scare this shit out of me. Last year, ‘The Conjuring‘ did a decent job at that, but this new film that premiered at Sundance called ‘The Babadook‘, is scaring a lot of people. And i just can’t wait. Entertainment One International will release the film, which is a monster/boogeyman movie. Enjoy the trailer and poster.

Jana B. Here,

Sundance 2014

There are some names that you instantly recognize if you’re a student of film, or just obsessed with it, like me. Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, Steven Soderbergh are just a few. What do these names have in common? Sundance. Filmmakers converge on the famous Indie film festival in Park City, Utah, for the chance to move from someone making movies with your buddies to being paid to employ some of the best actors in the industry. Dreams come true and some leave in deafeat, yeah that was way too schmaltzy. From January 16-26 the world of entertainment turns its discerning and collective eye to more than 120 feature length submissions.
