Nov/2018

Hey guys, Jana here,

Ryan Reynolds‘ star power just gets higher and higher, and it looks like he’s not slowing down in any way, shape or form. The ‘Deadpool‘ ringer’s production company, Maximum Effort, has signed a 3-year first-look deal with Fox. This is a timely announcement as Twentieth Century Fox’s feature assets will be transferred to Disney. It looks like they’ve found their first project and it’s going to be interesting.

‘Mama Mia: Here We Go Again’ Sequel is Almost Here!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 21st, 2017

It looks like ‘Mama Mia!‘ is getting the sequel treatment with ‘Mama Mia!: Here We Go Again‘ with everyone returning to their roles. It doesn’t look like Meryl Streep with be the main star here this time, but her and Cher will be seen in the movie. The first film was fun enough and the ABBA music still resonates, but I wonder what music group will be picked this time around. I just hope this isn’t a hasty rehash of the first film.

Film Review: ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 20th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Matthew Vaughn is back in the director’s chair with ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle‘, the sequel to the hit 2015 action-comedy film that made over $414 million. The ‘Kingsman’ story line was originally written in comic book form from Mark Millar (Kick-Ass) and Dave Gibbons (Watchmen) and follows a super secret British spy service that protects the world from various threats. It’s like James Bond, but more fun, more violent, and with more laughs. With sequels, especially in the action world, the words “bigger, better, faster” are usually used everyday on set, in an attempt to out-do the previous movie. That can mostly be said for this sequel too, but with The Golden Circle – – it all works.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Guess who’s back, back again? No, it’s not Slim Shady, it’s Kingsman. In round two, ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle‘, director Vaughn gathered some of the usual gentleman, like Taron Egerton, Mark Strong and, yes – Colin Firth. He’s combined it with a healthy dose of American badass in the form of Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal, and Jeff Bridges to bring us a new adventure I can’t wait to feast my eyes on.

Bryan Kluger’s Best/Worst of 2015!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 30th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

1140-mfg-2015-Readers-Choice-Best-Movie-poll-collage-promo.imgcache.rev1449178940055.web.722.414

I can’t believe how fast this year has gone by. 2015 was an interesting year to say the least, most of which was great. Movie-wise, I think 2015 had some excellent films filling its theaters, but of course it had some real stinkers too. Below is my list of the Best and Worst films of 2015.  I believe this year I watched over 175 new films, theatrically speaking and it was very difficult to narrow them down from 25. After some strawberry cake covered in Lucky Charms, I finally had a TOP 15, however, these films are in no particular order this year. But when you talk about the Best movies, you have to mention the worst too. My list tends to be a tad bit different from others, but hey, I’m twisted. I highly encourage you to seek out these movies – good or bad and enjoy the rest of your year.

Film Review: ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 12th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

kingsman-the-secret-service-taron-egerton-colin-firth

I can officially say that the first AWESOME, kick-ass movie of 2015 is finally here, which is ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service‘. Based on Mark Millar’s (Kick-Ass) comic book, director Matthew Vaughn (Kick-Ass, Layer Cake, Snatch) has once again delivered the goods and high entertainment value with an homage to spy films, particularly the ‘James Bond‘ franchise. So what’s that mean? It means the guy who made ‘Kick-Ass‘ and produced ‘Snatch‘, made his own version of ‘James Bond‘, and it’s as violent and gory and funny as his other films I mentioned.

Film Review: ‘Before I Go To Sleep’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 31st, 2014

Janet W., Here…

IMG_0124.CR2

Before I Go to Sleep opens with an extreme close-up of Christine Lucas’ (Nicole Kidman) bright blue, bloodshot eye.  The world is an empty space to Christine.  She doesn’t know who she is nor does she know whose arm is draped over her. (If she only knew)  Every day begins this way for Christine.  The man (Colin Firth) identifies himself as her husband, Ben Lucas.  He explains her estranged friend disappearing, their son dying, etc. day after day.  Glass squares filled with reminders and likes/dislikes for Christine are on their kitchen wall.  Without fail there is one aspect of Christine’s life that must be retold, that she had an accident, which caused her condition.  The weariness shows of Ben’s face, but there’s something a little off about this situation.  Enter Dr. Nasch (Mark Strong), a psychologist who has vowed to help her recover her life.  He offers her the only means of continuity through nightly recordings on a camera.  However, she is instructed to hide the camera from Ben.  Slowly her memories unfold and the truth is revealed.

Dominic West and Guy Pearce Join ‘Genius’!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Sep 26th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

334078

There has already been some talk about a new biopic of sorts based on the life of Scribner’s iconic editor Max Perkins. Perkins worked with such literary notables as F. Scott Fitzgerald, Thomas Wolfe and Ernest Hemmingway. In hearing tales of how these respected authors worked, the amount of difficulty friends and family had with some, I can only imagine the set of balls it would take to be the one forced with fact-checking, making corrections and offering changes in whole to the manuscripts. The flip-side of the downfalls to the job is that the editor is allowed to nurture and encourage talent in it’s various forms. This is precisely what Perkins did, and what will pique the curiosity of viewers the world over.

Distributor Image Entertainment managed to snag the North American rights to the horror ‘The Houses October Built”, and will release it simultaneously in theaters and for video-on-demand, as is the norm. The horror tells the story of five friends who set off on a road trip to visit haunted house attractions, only to come face to face with something more blood-curdling than fake thrills.

The Top 10 Perfectly Cast Movie Roles!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 18th, 2014

Paul N., Here…

doc_brown_marty

Top Ten Perfectly Cast Roles

The Bard of Avon said it best, “Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.” Some actors are great, and shine in everything they do (Leonardo DiCaprio, Gary Oldman, Daniel Day-Lewis). Some actors are smart enough to pick roles that best use their limited skill sets (Keanu Reeves). This list takes a look at the perfect pairing of actor and role. In this list, you will find a pairing of actor and role so great that the actor ceases to be themselves and instead makes the character take on a life of its own. These pairings are so uniquely theirs that you can’t imagine anyone else taking their place should Hollywood have the audacity to try.

I don’t know much about this movie, but I do know it has an all-star cast that includes: Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, and John Hurt.  IMDB describes the film as “In the bleak days of the Cold War, espionage veteran George Smiley is forced from semi-retirement to uncover a Soviet agent within MI6’s echelons.”  So who knows.  Trailer is pretty good though.  Enjoy the trailer below.

Hi Bryan Here…

First off, let me say Congrats to “The King’s Speech” and to everyone who worked on the film.  It was indeed a great movie.  Even though it was not my choice for BEST PICTURE, it is a great film.  But recently, some of the powers that be have signed off to re-cut and edit “The King’s Speech” to get a  PG-13 rating.  And a lot of people are not happy about it including the film’s actors and crew.
