Hey guys, Jana here,

Bohemian Rhapsody may be something that we connect with ‘Wayne’s Wold‘, and for good reason, but Mike Myers is not content to leave it at that. The jokester is courting director Bryan Singer and negotiating for a role in a film about the greatest of the great, Queen.

Hey guys, Jana here,

The works of literary great Robert A. Heinlein have been immortalized on celluloid since 1950 with more than a dozen projects adapted from his written works including ‘Project Moon Base‘, ‘Red Planet‘, ‘The Puppet Masters‘ and ‘Starship Troopers‘. While the novels didn’t quite transfer seamlessly from one story-telling avenue to the other, the general theme has been the same. Hoping to make a successful transition with one of Heinlen’s more difficult pieces is Bryan Singer, and the title is ‘The Moon is a Harsh Mistress‘.

Jana B. here,

bryan-singer

Bryan Singer is one busy dude in the entertainment industry, he’s known for the ‘X-Men‘ movies, ‘Superman Returns‘, ‘Jack the Giant Slayer‘ and of course he burst onto our radar with 1995’s twisted crime flick ‘The Usual Suspects‘ that made Singer and Keyser Söze common names. In addition to all the movie titles he has under his belt, he was also the director for the pilot of David Shore’s hit medical drama series ‘House‘ on Fox. Shore and Singer worked together to executive produce the accolade-accumulating series for the entire eight–season run.

Bryan’s Film Review: ‘American Hustle’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 20th, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

new-images-from-the-hobbit-american-hustle-and-the-monuments-men-142354-a-1375953418-470-75

Formally titled ‘American Bullshit‘, director David O. Russell has generated a lot of buzz for this film over the last few months. Coming off his Oscars for ‘Silver Linings Playbook‘ and ‘The Fighter‘, you might think ‘American Hustle‘ might be on par with his previous two films. While this movie is indeed great, it lacks any sort of depth or meaning that  Russell has embraced in his previous efforts. But what he lacks in depth and meaning, he makes up ten fold in acting, characters, and insanity. I have no doubt that this 1970’s comedy con-artist film will wow audiences with its comedy and sex appeal, but don’t expect a “think piece” here. With tons of other choices this holiday season, it’s difficult to say how this will do at the box office, but with an A-List cast and the amount of hype this has, I imagine decent returns.

Hi, Bryan Here….

If the Simpsons were a 10 on the cool-meter on a scale of 1-10, then now they are a 15, because Tom Waits has been scheduled to guest star on the hit show for Fox for their 24th season which starts Sunday, September 30th.  Waits will play himself in the show as he helps introduce Homer to a community of survivalists, so says producer Al Jean.

Bryan Reviews ‘Rock Of Ages’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jun 14th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here…

‘Rock Of Ages’ is an 80’s Rock n’ Roll orgy turned up to eleven.  I have no doubt that 80’s rock music fans will eat this up and rock themselves out in the theater.  This musical is based on Chris D’ Arienzo’s Broadway play and has been adapted to the big screen in a major and hilarious way with an allstar cast.  Plus they got Adam Shankman (they guy who directed the remake of ‘Hairspray’) to direct this 80’s rock opus.  ‘Rock Of Ages’ is over-the-top ridiculous, campy, silly, but one hell of a good time.  You’ll leave the theater singing your favorite Twisted Sister song and wanting to change your hair into a mullet.

Hi, Bryan Here….

I heard about ‘The Secret World of Arrietty’ a while ago and really wanted to see it in the theater.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to see it on the big screen, so I was super stoked to see it on bluray.  I prefer the undubbed version to the english dubbed film, but it didn’t detract away much, considering the very comedic actors who lend their voices to the english version.  ‘The Secret World of Arrietty’ is a very fun story that will appeal to both kids and adults alike.

Bryan Reviews ‘Battleship’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 18th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

I remember playing ‘Battleship’ as a kid. I remember it being a little like chess, requiring determination, logic, strategy, and a bit of fun.  Unfortunately, the film ‘Battleship’ has none of that.  It’s a complete calamity on all levels, with the exception of some incredible special effects.  FACT: ‘Battleship’ has a run time of 131 minutes.  That’s over two hours, folks.  In that span of over two hours (which I’ll never get back), the film failed in storytelling, action sequences, logic, and character development.  The whole film was laughable and made no sense at all.  It’s as if a third grader made the film.  And that’s sad, because I like director Peter Berg.  He’s done some really good stuff like, ‘The Rundown’ and ‘Very Bad Things’.  But with ‘Battleship’, he missed the mark by a good 100 feet.

Bryan’s Review of ‘Andrew Bird: Fever Year’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Apr 30th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Let me start off by saying I am a huge Andrew Bird fan.  And if you do not know who Andrew Bird is, after seeing this amazing documentary by Xan Aranda, you will be hooked and consumed with both the artist and his music.  Fever Year is a compelling and fun documentary that follows Andrew Bird on his tour across the USA.  We get an in depth look at his performances on stage and behind closed doors as we see the singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist’s passion for music.

Bryan Reviews ‘Annie Hall’ Bluray!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Feb 28th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

‘Annie Hall’ is finally on blu-ray and that is good news folks.  But at least for me, it’s bittersweet good news.  Sadly, like most or all Woody Allen dvd’s or blu-rays, this does not have any extras besides the trailer.  Wouldn’t it be amazing if there was a commentary by Allen on ‘Annie Hall’?  But, with that said, this is the best the film has looked and should be in everyone’s collection.  ‘Annie Hall’ is a comedic masterpiece of love, loss, and wit.  One of the best films of all time.

Hi Bryan Here….

I remember watching Degrassi growing up way back when it first started.  It has changed quite a bit in its 10th season but the core of the stories are still there.  I remember when Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes (Jay and Silent Bob) got involved with the Degrassi franchise.  This 10th season had 44 episodes and was previously known as Degrassi: The Next Generation but dropped ‘The Next Generation’ part for this 10th season.  This was quite fun to watch, but I’d imagine teens and pre teens would enjoy it more than I did.
