A ‘Battlestar Galactica’ Movie? No Fracking Way!

by Bryan Kluger on Jun 9th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

Battlestar-Galactica

Mother-fracker! This is excellent news. “So say we all.” Universal is prepping a big screen adaptation of ‘Battlestar Galactica‘…finally. There have been many attempts to do a big screen version based off of Glen Larson’s 1978 TV series, but none have come to fruition. In 2003, a revamp series aired on SyFy, and became one of the BEST series to ever come out on television.

Hi, Bryan Here….

That pilot for Syfy’s ‘Battlestar Galactica’ prequel series titled ‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome’ will finally be airing on Friday.  It will only be online this Friday, but after this weekend there will be a Blu-ray/DVD/VOD release.  It’s sad that SYFY passed on this series, which I don’t understand.  BSG was a huge hit for them, and the trailer we debuted a few months ago generated tons of hype.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Ron Moore, the showrunner/writer/director of the recent ‘Battlestar Galactica’ series for SYFY, has just inked a deal to bring the Diana Gabaldon ‘Outlander’ book series to a new tv series.  ‘Outlander’ is a fantasy adventure series that  starts off in 1945 and follows Claire, an engaged WWII combat nurse who accidentally steps back in time to the Scottish Highlands of 1743. Catapulted without warning into the intrigues of lairds and spies that send her on the run and threaten her life she is forced to marry Jamie, a gallant and passionate young Scots warrior, igniting a passionate love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire… and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives according to Deadline.

Hi, Bryan Here…

This might be the BEST Geek Deal of the Day we have done.  For a limited time, the Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series (with Collectible Cylon) Blu-ray and Dvd are 67% Off!!!!  This does not happen often.  In fact, I don’t remember this set ever going on sale.  This set normally goes for $350 and is now, for the time being, $115.99 for the bluray set, and $88.99 for the DVD set.  In this set, you get every episode of the BSG series, tons of extras, and a very cool cylon collectible and moveable figure.  Take advantage quickly.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Yesterday, we posted the bootleg trailer to ‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome’ which has been in the works for a few years now.  The video was taken down by the studio.  If you didn’t get a chance to see the trailer, it was BADASS.  It looks epic.  But since, this show has been a long and heavy trek in post production, the studio is trying to see how they can earn money on it.

Hi, Bryan Here….

We’ve been hearing about that prequel series, ‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome’ for a while now.  It will debut sometime soon on the SyFy network.  ‘Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome’ will take place during the first Cylon war where the Admiral Adama we all know (played by Edward James Olmos in the recent series) will play a much younger 20 something fighter pilot.  He is known in the prequel series as ‘Husker’.

Battlestar Galactica Hitting the Big Screen!!!

by Bryan Kluger on Oct 24th, 2011

The Bishop Charlotte Reporting….

Bryan Singer (Valkyrie) is taking the wheel with a big screen adaptation of the 1978 TV series. He’s as giddy as a schoolboy, as is his screenwriter, John Orloff (A Mighty Heart).

Hi Bryan Here…

Sy-Fy has cast its William “Husker” Adama role for their upcoming series “Blood and Chrome” which is a prequel to Battlestar Galactica.  In this show William Adama will be in his 20’s and fighting in one of the cylon wars.  The twenty something version of Adama will be played by Luke Pasqualino.

SO SAY WE ALL!!!

SyFy Network executive Mark Stern unveiled that there will be a TV MOVIE made  called “Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome”.  It will follow a mid-twenties William Adama as he enters the decade old first Cylon War.

It is set to shoot in Vancouver sometime next year.

Mark Stern says: “When we read Michael’s script, it was so clearly a full-blown pilot for a series.  The scope is fantastic and bigger, I think, than anticipated, so we said, ‘Let’s do it as a 2-hour backdoor pilot.’ … We’re trying to get up and running as soon as possible.”

I am excited to hear this news.  Any BSG news is great news.  I’m curious as to how many characters we will see from the BSG series in their younger from.

Plus Mark Stern said that the show Caprica is on the edge.  November 15 is the date we will hear by if the show will be no more.

One of the best shows on television to come out in the last 20 years was the re-vamp of Battlestar Galactica which was created by Ron Moore.  Now he is gearing up to pitch yet another re-vamp.  This time it is the 1960’s show, The Wild, Wild West.

The original series—which ran on CBS from 1965 to 1969—starred Robert Conrad and Ross Martin as Secret Service agents who get reassigned to the Old West. It was described at the time as “James Bond on horseback,”

Now if anyone could do a show right it is Ron Moore.

But I think this project is fairly far off, maybe by three or so years.  Let’s hope some BSG vets return for this show.

Your thoughts?

Hi Bryan Here…

One of my favorite tv shows of all time is on sale right now till midnight.  It is Claire’s favorite show of all time.  I am talking about the recent revamp of Battlestar Galactica.

Iron Sky: The Coming Race – Film Review!

by Bryan Kluger on Jul 16th, 2019

“Iron Sky: The Coming Race is a fun-as-hell movie.”

In 2012, Finnish filmmaker Timo Vuorensola, gave us the film ‘Iron Sky‘, which was about the defeated Nazi soldiers from WWII, who somehow retreated to the dark side of the moon, built a home base, and prepped to bring a big war back to Earth in 2018. Oh what a fun movie that was. It even became a cult hit amongst the horror genre crowd. Some seven years later, Timo took to the crowdfunding sites and brought in enough cash to make a sequel called ‘Iron Sky: The Coming Race‘.  Oddly, this is the only film he’s done since the first ‘Iron Sky‘ movie and I can’t figure out why, because both these films are visually great and pack a ton of fun and action from start to finish. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I want more from Timo Vuorensola.

Film Review: ‘The Predator’!

by Bryan Kluger on Sep 11th, 2018

Another reboot to the franchise brings more blood, guts, and humor to one of our favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger 80’s film ‘Predator‘. Now, it’s simply titled ‘THE PREDATOR‘, which vaguely addresses the past two films with zero mention of any characters. Shane Black is at the helm of this distant sequel to the original film, which is interesting, to say the least. Shane was in the first film back in 1987 and played the part of Hawkins who told the funny jokes through the film. Shane went on to write the ‘Lethal Weapon‘ movies, ‘The Monster Squad‘ and more importantly ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang‘, ‘The Nice Guys‘, and ‘Iron Man 3‘, before taking this on with his fellow ‘Monster Squad‘ collaborator Fred Dekker.

‘The Crooked Man’ Is Coming to DVD!

by Bryan Kluger on Jan 17th, 2017

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

crooked-man-still-one

The SyFy network recently aired a film called ‘The Crooked Man‘ last Halloween that starred Spawn and Black Dynamite himself Michael Jai White. This is a horror film based on the kid’s nursery rhyme. The Crooked Man recently showed up in ‘The Conjuring 2‘, and there was talk about a spinoff movie. This was not that movie. Now, I haven’t seen this yet, but I’ve only heard how bad it is.

Hey guys, Jana here,

mario-van-peebles-net-worth-600x572

Syfy is getting a new series from partners Mario Van Peebles, through his new shingle MVPTV, and XLRator Media. The 13-episode order is for a series titled ‘Superstition‘. As the name suggests it’s a supernatural drama, and it’s set near the one city in America that is more attached to the supernatural than any others, New Orleans. MVP is set to write, direct and star in a few of the episodes. Joel Anderson Thompson (‘Battlestar Galactica‘) is on tap to serve as showrunner. The series won’t air until sometime in 2017.

If you can’t get enough movies with slithering, cold-blooded reptiles like ‘Anaconda‘ or ‘Snakes on a Plane‘, you might want to go back in time a little bit to 1973 with ‘Sssssss‘ starring Strother Martin, Dirk Benedict, Heather Menzies-Urich under the direction of Bernard Kowalski (‘Attack of the Giant Leeches’). Scream Factory is making it easier to get your hands on this classic piece of cinematic horror, when it’s released on DVD and Blu-ray April 26, 2016.

“SO SAY WE ALL!” Many of us are waiting for ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘ to return from its break and now there’s a new reason for the anticipation. ‘Agent Carter‘ is definitely doing its part to keep our attention diverted from the fact that we have no new SHIELD episodes coming our way until March, but after learning that Edward James Olmos will be added to the cast all I can say is that the struggle to wait patiently is proving impossible!

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

I’m sure if you’ve owned a video game console before, you have heard or played ‘Dead Rising‘, the zombie survival video game from Capcom. I know I have, and they were very detailed, frightening, and in depth games. Legendary Pictures and Lorenzo di Bonaventura (‘Transformers‘) are adapting this video game into a feature film, or more so a digital feature with Zach Lipovsky directing.

Hi, Bryan and Lisa S. Here…..

9d8c1968aa60cdb4dca86ed6790187e2

I had some help writing this article with writer, Lisa S.   Lisa hails from netherworld of the Northwest and is not above watching zombie movies for 24 hours straight.  She loves all kinds of scary movies and is an avid music fan.  You might even find her perusing the used DVD bin at your local movie store looking for old Ernest movies and Sifl and Olly discs.  Lisa helped quite a bit with this article and you can expect her read many more of her articles on this site from this point forward.  Give her a warm welcome and visit her online book and record store HERE.

Now let’s get to the list.  Here are Boomstick’s Top 20 Female Badasses in film and television.  I tried to keep it in the horror/sci-fi genre, but a couple of action star made it in there.  These females are the most hardcore we feel, by how much ass they kick, their courage, and their sex appeal.  We dare you to find better role models and badasses than this.  Enjoy the list.
