Hi, Bryan Here….

Al-Pacino_2335573b

Director Brian De Palma and actor Al Pacino, who famously worked on the 1980’s version of ‘Scarface‘ are teaming up again for ‘Happy Valley‘, a film that will tell the story of Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno.  Paterno’s amazing football club and career came to a screeching halt when it came out that the defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky had and still was molesting young children, which Paterno and others did nothing to stop it in fear that it would ruin their football club.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Al Pacino is returning to the stage and film known as ‘Glengarry Glen Ross’.  The 1992 film adaptation got Pacino an Oscar nod back twenty years ago and now Broadway is looking to put it back on the stage for 2013.  Pacino played Ricky Roma in the film, but will play Shelly Levene in the play, which was played by Jack Lemmon in the film.

Hi Bryan Here….

Just hearing that makes me giddy, but also at the same time, nervous.  This film could go either way really.  Al Pacino, Christopher Walken, and Alan Arkin are all set to star in an action comedy called ‘Stand Up Guys’.  It was originally called ‘Old Timers’.  Good title change.  The movie will be directed by Fisher Stevens.  Yes.  That Fisher Stevens.

Michael Fleming over at Deadline is reporting that Pesci and Pacino are in talks to be a part of Scorsese’s next film which will be entitled “The Irishman”. It is based on the book “I Heard You Paint Houses” by Charles Brandt. The movie would follow the life and times of the mob hit man Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran. Amongst all of his mob related crimes he might have had a hand in the killing of Jimmy Hoffa. It also looks like Robert De Niro will be starring in the picture as well. He and his film company, Tribeca Productions are developing the film.

De Niro said this about the movie: “We have a more ambitious idea, hopefully, to make it a two-part type of film or two films…It’s an idea that came about from Eric Roth to combine these movies using the footage from ‘Paint Houses’ to do another kind of a [film that is] reminiscent of a kind of ‘8 1/2,’ ‘La Dolce Vita,’ [a] certain kind of biographical, semi-biographical type of Hollywood movie — a director and the actor — based on things Marty and I have experienced and kind of overlapping them.”

If this happens with all these people, then this might be the best gangster film since Goodfellas.

Hey guys, Jana here,

When Martin Scorsese knows talent, he doesn’t hesitate to use it. Such is the case of the upcoming film ‘The Irishman‘ about one of the coldest cases in mafia history, the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa. Thus far that cast consists of Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Joe Pesci. The unofficial additions that are currently in talks to join this wonder-cast are Harvey Keitel, and Bobby Cannavale.

Hey guys, Jana here,

Forest Whitaker

Forest Whitaker hasn’t come across much he hasn’t been able to do well in his career and now he’s expanding his talents to leading a play on Broadway. He’s made one hell of an impressive name for himself as an actor in films like ‘Platoon‘, ‘The Last King of Scotland‘ and in ‘Lee Daniels The Butler‘.

Hi Bryan Here….

Here is one hell of a geek deal.  ‘The Godfather’ Trilogy for 60% off.  It normally sells for $125.00, but now through us and AMAZON, get it for only $49.99.  Now I know Godfather III gets a bad rap, and it is nowhere near the quality of the third film, but compared to most trilogies or even movies, Godfather III is pretty great.

Hi Bryan Here….

Here is a Geek Deal for an entire week or until Sunday.  The Ocean trilogy on blu-ray is selling this week for only $17.99.  That is a little more than $5.00 a blu-ray disc.  All three films for 50% off in a set.  I love these films.  The actors have such a great chemistry and were always such a joy to watch them all share the screen.

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

You just can’t keep Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio away from each other. The two are prepping a new film that is based on the true crime thriller ‘Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI‘ by author David Grann. This insane true story is set in the 1920s where the members of the Osage nation in Oklahoma were brutally killed after someone discovered oil beneath their land. This went on for a while as a serial murder rampage, which was one of the first big cases the FBI investigated.

Hey guys, Jana here,

2882663.main_image

There are two things Martin Scorsese knows a lot about, one of them is making movies and the other is making mob movies. From ‘Goodfellas‘, to ‘Gangs of New York‘, to ‘The Departed‘ with several stops in between, his films speak for themselves so it’s no wonder that a bit of a bidding war has broken out around his latest project ‘The Irishman‘. The companies are sending up their white flags with Netflix standing on the pile of broken bodies, the victor.

And the 2016 Golden Globe Nominees Are….

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 10th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

53fe9c57-1190-4d61-b197-fcda11fc89af

The awards show is January 10 on NBC hosted by Ricky Gervais. First off, let’s look at something AWESOME here. ‘MAD MAX: FURY ROAD‘ is nominated for BEST PICTURE. It needs to win. It should win. And if does win, we all go streaking. That being said…I can’t believe that ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl‘ was not nominated for anything. Come on. It’s one of the BEST films of the year. It’s also interesting to see no love for the final season of ‘Mad Men’ her either. Oh well.

Here is the list of nominees:

Film Review: ‘Danny Collins’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Mar 26th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here …

detail.016ca1c4

We’ve seen the same story before, where an aging rock star who has led a life of drugs, booze, and women, finally has an epiphany and wants to start a new page in their lives and be a better person. This version of that familiar story is somewhat based on a true one, or rather several true stories over the years where Al Pacino gives one of his better performances of recent memories and has a lot of fun doing so.

The Top 10 Gangster Movie List!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 19th, 2014

Jana B. here,

GangsterListBANNER

Some girls are all into sappy romances or heart touchingly saccharine-sweet movies. Movies that sometime contain a troubled family learning to love a curmudgeonly, absent  grandparent, or a shattered family recovering from the death of one of its immediate member. Sometimes it’s a pet that waltzes, unexpectedly, into a tumultuous atmosphere that teaches everyone to love more before it’s killed in some unimaginative way.

I hate movies like that. I hate books like that and I hate songs like that. If a member of a family is killed, it better be a mafia family, and I get to look forward to their violent, bloody and evil retribution.  I am so fascinated by the inner workings of these ‘families’. I love to see the fronts they use to launder their income and imagine ways I would do it if I was involved.

Film Review: ‘Despicable Me 2’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jul 2nd, 2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

Despicable Me 2

It’s going to be difficult box office wise for ‘Despicable Me 2‘ to beat its predecessor, which made over $543 million just three years ago. The directors and writers are back again with Steve Carrell as the whacky former criminal mastermind Gru who we saw last time stealing the moon. How can one top that? This fun sequel may lack the heart and soul of the first film, but is still highly entertaining for both kids and adults with its amazing animated visuals, laughs, great voice cast, and those likable minions.

Hi Bryan Here….

That’s right.  Universal has hired David Ayer to write the script for the updated version of Scarface.  We wrote about this a month or two ago about how this Scarface won’t necessarily be a sequel or remake, but rather just and updated version.  The film will put a new spin on the outlaw tale first released in 1932 with Paul Muni playing an Italian who took over Chicago, and then turned into the ultra violent 1983 film that starred Al Pacino as Tony Montana, a Cuban who took over the cocaine trade in 1980s Miami.
