In the category of “Movie Remakes That Might Not Suck”, let me submit ‘Flatliners‘. The original film debuted in 1990 and starred the beautiful people of the day – Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin (it was the 90’s, of course a Baldwin was in it!), and Oliver Platt.
It’s reboot features Ellen Page (‘Inception‘), Diego Luna (‘Rogue One‘), Nina Dobrev (‘The Vampire Diaries‘), James Norton(‘Happy Valley‘) and Kiersey Clemons (‘The Flash‘). It still follows the same storyline. Medical students experiment on “near death” experiences that involve past tragedies until the dark consequences begin to jeopardize their lives.
The trailer makes me think this one could be just as good as it’s predecessor, and even though it isn’t shown in the trailer Sutherland makes a cameo in the film somewhere. Of course, we have until September 29, 2017 to compare the two, but I’m inclined to at least give it a chance.
