Hi everyone, Bryan here…

The-Matrix

Warner Bros. is at a loss for original ideas, so they are wanting to get back to 1999 when ‘The Matrix‘ was releasing, because in fact, they want to remake ‘The Matrix‘. This is a terrible idea. There are tons of original stories and ideas out there. Get after it Warner Bros. Sources close to the project have said that a remake of ‘The Matrix‘ is in the works, which isn’t necessarily new news, since we reported on this a couple of years ago. It wasn’t so much of a remake back then, but maybe an expanse on the storyline or even a sequel.

But now, it’s a remake with Zak Penn writing a screenplay. Who is Zak Penn? He wrote the bulk of the ‘X-Men’ films (not ‘Logan’), as well as ‘Last Action Hero‘ and the upcoming ‘Ready Player One’. In addition, these same sources say that Michael B. Jordan (‘The Wire’, ‘Creed’) is in talks to star, but that there is so much more ink and talks to be done before all this is final. Add to that, the Wachowski siblings, who made ‘The Matrix’ are not involved at this time and probably won’t be. So what you’re telling me is that Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, and the Wachowskis are not going to be involved in a ‘Matrix’ film? I’m out. Leave me the fuck out of this.

If we go back a year or two, Keanu even said he’d be up for another film if the Wachowskis were involved, but it looks like Warner is trying to go a different way. Look, we don’t want another remake of ‘The Matrix’. We don’t want it. We don’t need it. Just re-release the originals in theaters, and I’m sure that people will pack the seats to see the original one in 4K. But yes, now you know that Warner Bros. is spending your ticket purchase money on killing an excellent film and trying to replace it with something awful. Shame on your Warner Bros. Shame on you.
