Film Review: ‘Operation Avalanche’!!

by Janet White on Sep 30th, 2016

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

operation-avalanche-set

This is for all you conspiracy nuts out there. The trio of Matt Johnson, Owen Williams, and Josh Boles brings you a big historical “What if?” Did Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins really land on the moon? Operation Avalanche (still don’t understand the code name) presents an almost convincing counter to the history books. Read the rest of this entry »

It was only a matter of time before ‘The Lion King‘ was to be remade into a Live-Action Disney movie. Well, with the recent success of ‘The Jungle Book‘, ‘Cinderella‘, and ‘Maleficient‘ – Disney is now in the business of live-action remakes of their classic animated films. Their upcoming ‘Beauty and the Beast‘, which stars Emma Watson as Belle is one of the most anticipated films of next year. Plus, ‘The Little Mermaid‘ has already been greenlit for a live-action remake.

Film Review: ‘RAW’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 27th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

1-zkonh7qleuq1z_ecz0plg

RAW‘ made me remember why I love movies. I can’t wait for you all to feast your eyes and stomachs on first time French director Julia Ducournau’s masterpiece in cinema, simply titled ‘RAW‘. Julia takes an overly done genre trope (cannibalism) and completely makes it fresh, organic, and ready to serve to the masses in a very beautiful, elegant, and most disturbing way in which a young woman is on a coming-of-age quest in her life and discovers her sexual side as well as a new appetite.

FILM REVIEW: “THE GREASY STRANGLER”

by Justin Cline on Sep 26th, 2016

Justin C. here,..

Correct me if I’m wrong, but at one time the term “cult film” referred to a movie that failed at the box office during its initial release but eventually found its niche, either through home video release (The Evil Dead) or midnight screenings (The Rocky Horror Picture Show). Nowadays, it seems as if certain filmmakers have grown disinterested in commercial success and are instead targeting that fringe audience they consider underserved by mainstream fare.

Such is the case with The Greasy Strangler. Read the rest of this entry »

Film Review: ‘Arrival’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 24th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here…

amyadamsarrival

Not to be confused with ‘The Arrival‘ with a young Charlie Sheen, although both of these films involve visitors from another planet, the simply titled ‘Arrival‘ takes the alien invasion genre into paths that we’ve never traveled down before. Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Enemy, Prisoners, Sicario), instead of giant cities falling to the ground and millions of people disintegrating into thin air by a laser beam, ‘Arrival‘ follows the path of two people who want to find a way to communicate with the new aliens that have seemed to land at twelve different locations on planet Earth. Set in present day, multiple giant alien spacecrafts land on Earth, where the governments around the globe put their best and brightest on the job to try and communicate with the new visitors.

Film Review: ‘The Autopsy of Jane Doe’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 24th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

screen-shot-2016-09-24-at-3-10-52-pm

I’m always a sucker for pretty much any horror movie. Rarely though, horror films tend to stick in my mind long after viewing that have a lingering haunting effect that will cause me to sweat or choose not to walk down a dark hallway. I’m happy to say that the fresh and original horror film ‘The Autopsy of Jane Doe‘ will terrify me for the coming weeks. Directed by André Øvredal (Trollhunter), and starring Emile Hirsch and Brian Cox, this horror masterpiece goes down some dark alleys while a father and son try to reconnect after a death in the family.

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 23rd, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan here….

Park Chan-wook is already a legendary filmmaker in pretty much every circle and he’s only 53 years old. With films like the original ‘Oldboy’, ‘Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance’, ‘Thirst’, and ‘Stoker’, it’s easy to say that Park Chan-wook is a master of his domain and film. Fortunately for everyone who loves film, his new movie ‘The Handmaiden’, based off ‘Fingersmith’ by Sarah Waters is not just a film, but an experience in cinema and will be forever etched in you memory for all the right reasons.
