Great news today from FXX, it has renewed ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia‘ for not one, but two more seasons! That’s right, seasons 13 and 14 are a lock. Having a 13th season, ties it’s longevity with ‘King of the Hill‘ and ‘NCIS‘. Moving into the 14th season it joins 5 shows that have held that honor including ‘Bonanza‘, ‘Dallas‘, and ‘Knots Landing‘. If we’re talking the longest running series, ‘ER‘ clocks in at 15 seasons, ‘Lassie‘ comes in at 17 seasons with ‘Gunsmoke‘ coming in at second longest with 20 seasons. Who takes the top spot in longest running series? The Fox favorite ‘The Simpsons‘ leads the pack with 27 seasons!

Always Sunny can count creativity and freshness to their credit for making it this far. They don’t regurgitate plots with interchanging characters like so many series tend to do as a show ages. The series stars creator Rob McElhenney, Glenn Howerton, Charlie Day and Danny DeVito as the less than genius owners of Paddy’s Pub in Philadelphia.

Executive producers consist of McElhenney, Howerton, Day, Michael Rotenberg, Nick Frenkel, Tom Lofaro, Scott Marder and David Hornsby.
