Hey guys, Jana here,

tarzan-header-1

I have been anticipating the retelling of the Tarzan story by Edgar Rice Burroughs since I discovered it was in the works from the Harry Potter alum, David Yates. I made a mental note to be sure to see the film when I learned Alexander Skarsgard was attached as the orphaned boy raised by gorillas. Now the trailer is here and I’m circling the date on my calendar, which is July 1 if you want to make a note yourself. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

We all probably know the story, child is born in the jungle, his parents are killed and he is discovered and adopted by a mother gorilla with a soft spot for the furless, whining, creature. This story goes beyond that with Tarzan used to life in London, responding to a call back to his former home in the jungle to investigate the activities at a mining encampment.

Margot Robbie stars as the love interest, Jane Porter, while her father is played by the inimitable John Hurt, and Christoph Waltz does what he is so good at – being the bad guy. Sure there’s a load of CGI in the film, but it’s a small price to pay to see a truly gorgeous, and ripped, Skarsgard swinging through the trees. Enjoy!
