The name Charles Randolph might sound familiar to you, if so, you probably noticed he won an Oscar for writing ‘The Big Short‘ this year at the Academy Awards. If not, you might have still enjoyed his work, outside of Big Short, he has also written a few other popular films like ‘Love & Other Drugs‘ and ‘The Life Of David Gale‘.

Amazon Studios has tapped the writer to develop an hour-long present-day civil war drama series for the streamer. It’s described as a multifaceted, realistic look at what it would take to create a present-day civil war in the United States of America. This isn’t Randolph’s first TV deal, he’s already got four under his belt with pilot orders coming in from HBO and ABC. No word yet on when the project will begin casting.
