Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

AMC+Winter+TCA+Press+Tour+2016+83wM76WV9PEl

To end the month of January 2016, we had a Special Edition Multi-Media Men Podcast with out very own Gwen Reyes of Fresh Fiction TV and WFAA. Gwen is part of the TCA (Television Critics Association), where she travels to Los Angeles for three weeks, twice a year to watch all of the new shows on your favorite networks. She even gets to interview a bunch of the celebrities and filmmakers for each show. Gwen just got back in town from the January TCA conference and she dishes out information on all the series you should watch, and even some you should skip. And yes, she HAS seen AMC’sPreacher‘ and the revival of ‘Full House‘ for Netflix, plus a ton more. Be sure to listen to this episode for all of the cool new shows and even some fun tidbits on great and awkward interviews that took place. It was a great podcast.

‘Stretch Armstrong’ Series Coming to Netflix!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 28th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

1D274907460659-stretch-armstrong-toy

How many Stretch Armstrong “accidents” did you get into when you were a kid? More than a dozen? Well, time to break out the old Stretch Armstrong toy again, because Netflix is making a television series, geared towards kids based on the popular toy. The series will be animated and premiere in 2017 with Hasbro Studios co-producing. This is one of man original shows that Netflix is producing for the small kid demographic, but I’m sure us “adults” will have to take a sneak peek at it as well, since we did grow up with these toys.

Hey guys, Jana here,

LHMainTitle

My childhood was pretty average. I was in pep club, was going to marry Tom Cruise, practiced the piano for hours and stayed home from school as often as I could. On those days away from school, I camped out on the couch and watched TV. I played guess which model has seen Bob Barker’s wammer on ‘The Price Is Right‘, listened to whatever trash Ricki Lake was tackling and I watched Melissa Gilbert run down that stupid hill in the intro to ‘Little House on the Prairie‘.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

68a94c04-a400-4857-be39-3c0133305a2a

Say what you will, but director Terrence Malick is brilliant. I love all of his films. He has a unique eye and lens that perfectly captures life and people. With films like ‘Days of Heaven‘, ‘Badlands‘, ‘The Thin Red Line‘, and ‘Tree of Life‘, you can tell that Malick is one of the better filmmakers still working today. His new film ‘Knight of Cups‘ looks beautiful, but I wish it was a mix of some sort of beer pong and LARPing. Could you imagine Malick doing something like that? I wish. Here is the new trailer for the film, which looks to have a great cast and releases March 4th.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

the_chickening_still_5__large

I was fortunate enough to have seen this at last year’s Fantastic Fest in Austin and was completely amazed. I’m not sure if amazed is the right word, but I was something and it has changed me forever. There is really no explanation for ‘The Chickening‘ other than that Toronto-based filmmakers Nick DenBoer and Davy Force took Stanley Kubrick’sThe Shining‘ and made it into something out of an acid trip nightmare with tons of chickens. Insane Clown Posse would be proud. You’ve never seen anything like this before, but you won’t be able to look away, and if you’re like me, you’ll watch it a million times.

Woody Allen Casts Leads for Amazon Original Series!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 26th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

woody-allen-elaine-may-mylie-cyrus

Woody Allen is an artist that garners reactions on both ends of the spectrum when it comes to enjoyment of his projects, you either love him or hate him. It seems, he’s not always happy with his decisions, either, at the last Cannes, he said the deal he made to create a TV series for Amazon was a catastrophic mistake and he regretted signing on to make an original series. His plan was to create a movie, but in six parts, that didn’t quite work out as planned. He struggled through the process and will write, direct and star in the finished product along with two unlikely co-stars.

Blu-ray Review: ‘Straight Outta Compton’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 26th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

91uy2gSHtrL._SL1500_

THE FILM

Music biopics are one of my favorite genres of film. I love seeing a musical artist or band portrayed on screen and their rise to fame, complete with how they came up with their platinum hits, warts and all. As of lately, we haven’t seen a ton of these biopics with the exception of the excellent ‘Love & Mercy‘ about Beach Boys member Brian Wilson. Most of the biopics usually focus on one person or a band and go up until they hit it big, but that’s not the case with ‘Straight Outta Compton‘, which is more of a bio-epic than a biopic. Instead of following one person, the film follows three main characters with a treasure trove of other superstar artists.

WWE: Possible Scenarios at the 2016 ‘Royal Rumble’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 24th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

maxresdefault

THE ROYAL RUMBLE ITSELF

One of the WWE’s most electrifying events is the ‘Royal Rumble’. Since the 1980s, WWE has been using the Royal Rumble match and PPV as the pre-cursor to Wrestlemania. In this match, anything is possible, as 30 wrestling superstars enter the ring in 90 second intervals. The only way to win the match is to throw the other 29 opponents over the top rope of the ring and be the last man standing. Over the years, there has been many surprises. Vintage wrestling superstars have entered the contest as well as underdogs. Sure, being the first entrant is the most difficult and being the 30th entrant is the easiest, as time is on your side, but that doesn’t stop you from winning usually.

Good news, everyone. The BEST studio that brings you marital arts and Asian action cinema (Well Go USA) has just joined the cable cutting revolution and is getting its own subscription channel, similar to HBOGO and the WWE Network. Their channel will be called “Hi-YAH!“, as in the thing that the usual fun martial artists yell out when the swing chop, stab, swing chop someone on film and will debut on Playstation VUE on January 26th. Wait, that’s like next week (AWESOME). Don’t fret though, ‘Hi-YAH!‘ will be available on additional platforms later on in the year and will feature films from Bruce Lee, Donnie Yen, and Jackie Chan. Hopefully, as time goes on, there will be original content as well. For you Asian-action fans, this is HUGE news and a great addition to subscription based services. I already have a list of movies I want to see on the channel.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

UDEP_D10_01854.CR2

January continues to roll in with the bad films as is usual for this time of year. It astonishes me that this screenplay was ever on the famed Hollywood blacklist. Perhaps some of it might have been funny on paper, but it never translated well into film, even with the star power of Robert De Niro as you’ve never seen him like this before. You won’t be surprised to see that the director of the film is a guy named Dan Mazer, who was the creative right-hand man to Sacha Baron Cohen since ‘The Ali G Show‘.

THE SHOW

iZombie…I was so sure that this was going to be a teeny bopper (do they still say that) TV show, but I’m happy to say that my assumption was wrong. However, being a zombie assistant medical examiner has its perks and insights (a variety of crime stopping assets). Following on the tails of the Ride Along, Ride Along 2 comes rollin’ in.  Ben Barber (Kevin Hart) is finally a cop, straight out of the academy, and still seeking James Payton’s (Ice Cube) respect.  Especially, since Ben is about to marry James’ sister, Angela.  The buddy comedy continues, but lacks luster.  Kevin Hart has his usual diarrhea mouth, but in this film, someone added 20 lbs. of ex-lax to his condition.  Normally 8 out of 10 times, this endless train of ramblings can make your side split.  However, in Ride Along 2 his batting average drops.

WM31_03292015jg_1345

The WWE Hall of Fame is a hallowed and revered rite of passage for wrestling superstars that have paved the way for all those coming up in the ranks and is one of the highlights of WrestleMania Week. Each wrestler that has ever graced a WWE roster has hopes that they may, one day, be welcomed into the HOF. There are some superstars that have not enjoyed this tradition and a few that likely never will. When talking about those that never will, there are a few names that pop in your mind right away like Sting, Chyna and until last year, Randy Savage was on that list. If Savage can make it, maybe anything’s possible. I wouldn’t hold your breath on Chyna, as her post-WWE career includes the title “Porn Star”, and that isn’t exactly something the WWE wants to align itself with since they’ve strived to maintain a PG, family friendly atmosphere with their programming. But Sting? Looks like it’s his lucky year!

by Red Zeppelbon on Jan 11th, 2016

Hey guys, Jana here,

bowie

The world lost a musical genius on Sunday when David Bowie succumbed after waging an 18-month, hard-fought war against cancer. He left behind a legacy of family that surrounded the 69-year old visionary as he passed on. Bowie also left a vibrant musical legacy that will survive the test of time and has left a palpable influence on music since he hit the scene decades ago.

Hey guys, Jana here,

fantastic_voyage_poster_001111029000749

Since ‘Pacific Rim 2‘ has been shelved indefinitely, Master of the Chiller, director Guillermo del Toro is circling his next project and it looks to be a remake of the 1960’s sci-fi series ‘Fantastic Voyage‘. del Toro is coming off his last picture, ‘Crimson Peak‘ released October of last year, it was moderately received despite the star power involved. So it looks like it’s time to go small, figuratively speaking, of course.

Hey guys, Jana here,

31-Rob-Zombie

Rob Zombie has had all of us anxiously awaiting his newest feature film, ‘31‘. I’m down for seeing anything Zombie does, but after his trying twice to get an R rating and receiving NC-17 decisions, third time was the charm for him and he finally received his R rating. Personally, I wanna see the NC-17 version! Anyhow, in celebration of this rating, the rocker-filmmaker has given the fans a treat, in releasing the first poster!

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

We all know and love Aaron Sorkin by now, right? He was the amazing screenwriter of the ‘West Wing‘, ‘The Social Network‘, HBO’sThe Newsroom‘, ‘Moneyball‘, and the recent ‘Steve Jobs‘ film. He has always been a writer, but hasn’t yet sat in that director’s chair yet. That’s all about to change as Sony has offered him to direct his first film as well as writer it, or shall I say adapt it from the 2014 book, ‘Molly’s Game: From Hollywood’s Elite to Wall Street’s Billionaire Boy’s Club, My High-Stakes Adventure in the World of Underground Poker‘, which is the memoir of Molly Bloom.

There has been talk about the HBO series ‘Deadwood‘ returning to television in the form of a feature film, but nothing has really gotten off the ground over the past few years. Film Review: ‘The Forest’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 7th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

c02d5ae6c362151398c0f90814c98dc0

If only ‘The Forest‘ was a documentary on Forest Whitaker, everything would have been a lot better. Instead, we got another vague and wretched PG-13 horror movie to start 2016 off with a whimper instead of a bang. Based on the real Aokigahara Forest in Japan, where it’s said to have demon like spirits roaming the woods and forces people to commit suicide there in record numbers, this film takes that unfortunate aspect and makes a Japanese/America horror film that doesn’t do anything, but plead for the end credits to crawl onscreen as fast as it can.

Film Review: ‘The Revenant’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Jan 7th, 2016

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

the-revenant-fn01

Could this finally be the year for Leonardo DiCaprio to take home that Oscar gold? It very well could be for his performance in ‘The Revenant‘. This is a movie that went through a few directors and actors before it landed on the ‘Birdman‘ director Alejandro G. Inarritu and Leo. At one point the studio wanted Park Chan-wook (‘Oldboy‘) to direct Samuel L. Jackson in the film, but that all fell through. Then the film went to John Hillcoat to direct Christian Bale in the film, before landing on Inarritu and DiCaprio.

Blu-ray Review: ‘A Lego Brickumentary’!

by Janet White on Jan 6th, 2016

Hello Everyone, Janet W. here…

A Lego Brickumentary

THE FILM

When you were a kid, which of your toys was limited only by your imagination?  Dolls?  Cars and fire engines?  Your Big Wheel? For many people, it was LEGOs.  If you could imagine it, with hard work and lots of LEGOs you could bring it to the third dimension.  A LEGO Brickumentary explores the origin, innovation, and longevity of this building block known around the world.  Guided by a trusty LEGO minifigure narrator (Jason Bateman), the film travels from the outer reaches of space to LEGO’s birthplace, Denmark.  What Ole Kirk Christiansen created started out as solid red blocks with small knobs to attach it to other blocks (“Clutch Power”) has evolved into translucent, motorized, and magnetic units available in a bevy of different colors.  Chock full of facts and awe-inspiring constructs, A LEGO Brickumentary reveals there is more to this block and its uses are infinite or are they?  For example, the name LEGO comes from the Danish word Leg Godt, which means “play well.”   Read the rest of this entry »

Hey guys, Jana here,

Elijah Wood’s SpectreVision and Chiller Films are teaming up to distribute a film that’s been labeled as “psychologically ratcheting” with ‘The Boy‘. Ted Henley (Jared Breeze) and his father (David Morse) operate a floundering family business – The Mt. Vista Motel. It’s just the two of them since Ted’s mother ran off with a guest years earlier, stealing the motel’s soul and one of its last regular patrons. Since then, Ted’s father has drifted into despondency – becoming a living ghost, haunting his own motel and leaving Ted to fend for himself. In his isolation, unchecked by the bounds of parenting, friendship, or affection, Ted’s fascination with death awakens with destructive consequences.

For Apatow, it’s only a comedy series right now that’s set to debut on February 19 called ‘Love‘.
