Why I Love Movies!

by Red Zeppelbon on Aug 31st, 2015

Hey guys, Jana here,

PicMonkey Collage

When someone in the entertainment industry dies, especially suddenly, everyone reacts differently to the news. Some people just regard it as a bit of news for the day and go on entirely unphased. Then there’s another response some can have, it’s a personal, visceral one, at that. I fall into the latter category.

Wes Craven – 1939-2015!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 30th, 2015

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

craven

I really hate writing these, but one of my favorite directors of all time has just passed away. He wasn’t known for having the best camera shots like Kubrick, nor was he known to make big budget blockbusters like Steven Spielberg. No, he was known for scaring the absolute hell out of us over the years with his iconic horror movies. This man is known as Wes Craven.

Check out the first image of Michael Fassbender as Callum Lynch in the hotly anticipated, and sure to be ridiculed by video game faithfuls, ‘Assassin’s Creed‘. I can’t believe it’s happening, but Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer seem to be more than just vacationing buddies, as of late, they’re writing partners! It even gets better than that, the project they’ve been tearing through is a vehicle that will put the goofy, hilarious duo together on-screen, as well, sisters at that! Is this a new incarnation of the Tina Fey/Amy Poehler dynamic?

Film Review: ‘No Escape’!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 26th, 2015

Janet W., Here…

Screen Shot 2015-08-26 at 11.54.58 AM

No Escape opens in black with opening credits and the sound of insects chirping.  Suddenly we focus on two glasses of clear beverage.  The camera follows the waiter carrying the glasses through the hotel/mansion until they arrive at the security/food taster.  Upon receiving his approval the waiter continues to the Prime Minister of Thailand and his visitor.  You wonder if something is in the glasses and if the Prime Minister will meet his end.  They both drink and finish their meeting.  As the visitor is escorted out by security, suddenly alarms sound.  The security officer takes off for the Prime Minister.  He is found bloody and dead.  Rebels walk up to the security officer and he draws his blade.  To defend himself?  No, he slices his own throat.  Oh, right, this is a Weinstein film.  Cut to titles that transition into clouds and an airplane window.

We also talk about the most difficult part of the shoot as well as some of Greta’s favorite scenes from movies. It was a fun chat and I wish the movie well. Go out and see it now!

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Director Noah Baumbach and his writing partner Greta Gerwig are a forced to be reckoned with on the big screen. Since their collaboration on ‘Greenberg‘ then onto their award winning film ‘Frances Ha‘, this duo have shown that they know how to write an amazing screenplay and shoot a beautiful film that showcases New York City, the same way that Woody Allen can.

If David E. Kelley (‘Ally McBeal‘, ‘LA Law‘, ‘The Practice‘) is bringing a series about it’s a pretty much guarantee that it’s going to be a high-powered, legal drama and in this case, you’d be right. Amazon has picked up the series ‘Trial‘ from the writer and has cast some pretty big super-stars to anchor the drama, Billy Bob Thornton and William Hurt.
