When I thought about the movie that was being made based on the cartoon of one of my all-time favorites, ‘Jem and the Holograms‘ I was curious how a series that was steeped in 1980’s culture and design would cross over to the final product. Director Jon M. Chu brings us our first peek at their progress with this teaser.

Prepare for the next name to make a spike for newborn girls to be taken from band leader Jem’s real name, Jerrica. Speaking of the leader of the pack, Aubrey Peeples is the actress transforming from every day girl into pop music’s newest “It” girl. The cast features Stefanie Scott, Molly Ringwold and Juliette Lewis in supporting roles, encouraging Jerrica to take chances and see what could be.

The feeling I get from the trailer is nostalgically 80’s but in an after-school special sort of way. All I know is I’m going to keep hoping Jem battles forces with She-Ra to defeat the evil Skeletor. It may not be a popular story-line but that’s how I played with my Jem doll. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think. Excited?
