Good things always come to those who wait, and the last RAW of 2014 was a VERY good thing. WWE Hall of Famer, Edge, and his BFF the Charismatic Superstar, Christian, were the guest hosts to ring out the year for those with the benefit of flash photography.  The evening totally reeked of awesomeness as we saw champions fighting champions, championships on the line, long anticipated debuts and prayed for returns.  It was an historic night.  So let’s get this party started and see what the final RAW of the year had in store for the WWE Universe!

2015 Disney Film Release Dates With Trailers!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 30th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

star-wars-disney-570x307

While the world is focusing on auld lang syne and bringing 2014 to a close, Disney is pointedly looking to the future or “To infinity and beyond!” as Buzz Lightyear would say. Walt Disney Studios has given us a wide list of release dates for 2015 including the first Star Wars since the mouse has taken ownership. It’s a big lineup and will, no doubt, bring in a wega-payday for the company. In the last year, three films, ‘Guardians of the Galaxy‘, ‘Maleficent‘ and ‘Captain America Winter Soldier‘ brought in over $700 million world-wide on their own. It stands to reason they can expect the same from 2015. Let’s kick it off with some animation!

Janet White’s Best/Worst List of 2014!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 29th, 2014

Janet W., Here…

2014What an interesting year in film.  There were some really good films and REALLY bad ones.  Some are bad because of my disappointment in the execution of potential brilliance.  Others are good because they brought an amazing story in a skillful manner that is worthy of memory.  I can only speak to the films that I was either blessed or, in some cases, cursed to screen, 23 in all (plus one cool dance performance).  Feedback is encouraged whether you agree, disagree, think I’m nuts (I am a little crazy), or if you think a film I reviewed should have been included.  Here are my Top 10 Best Films and Top 5 Worst Films of 2014….

Film Review: ‘American Sniper’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 25th, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

thumbnail_19703

This production sure has had its ups and down. Actor Bradley Cooper was cast as real life Navy SEAL Chris Kyle who is one of the most decorated SEAL in US History with a confirmed 160 kills in the recent war as a sniper. He is responsible for saving many US soldier’s lives. Shortly after Cooper signed on to star, David O’Russell (‘Silver Linings Playbook‘ and ‘American Hustle‘) wanted to direct, which would have made sense, because Cooper and O’Russell worked together before. But he dropped out and and Steven Spielberg signed on to direct ‘American Sniper‘. But yet again, Spielberg dropped out, leaving this project in limbo.

Janet W., Here…

the-gambler-jessica-lange-mark-wahlberg

There are three kinds of people in the world:  the overachiever, the underachiever, and the one that does just enough to not fail or threaten the other two.  Associate Professor of Literature James “Jim” Bennett (Mark Wahlberg) is on the precipice of changing his type.  Born of privilege, Jim is used to his mother (Jessica Lange) and her money saving the day.  He would gamble far above his earnings but the debt would be paid.  Something changes though.

Film Review: ‘Big Eyes’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 24th, 2014

Janet W., Here….

bgi

A few things are expected when you view a Tim Burton film…dark comedy, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and a twisted outcome.  Big Eyes is different.  The true story of Margaret D.H. Keane/Margaret (Amy Adams), a renowned artist, is told in bright light.  The only seemingly twisted or dark aspect of Big Eyes are the twin pools of the deepest fathoms that are the eyes of the people in Margaret’s paintings.  Big Eyes follows the sad yet courageous journey of Margaret from the escape from her first marriage to her triumph of finding her self as well as her voice.

It’s that time of year again. When we all gather round with those we care about and watch the special Christmas edition of WWE’s RAW from Minneapolis, Minnesota! Trees, lights and cheer paired with mayhem, chaos and insanity were the order of the evening. Like so many presents we have received in our life time, we saw things that made us go this is awesome, and others that made us go what the hell did I just witness? Either way, we were just grateful to spend the time with the superstars we loved and the ones we wished we really could not see. What fun was to be had and what was bad? Let’s rip into this shiny box of holiday spirit that is the December 22, 2014 RAW!

Film Review: ‘Unbroken’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 22nd, 2014

Beka P., Here…

r0_185_4274_2589_w1200_h678_fmax

Unbroken is a film that should break you; the true story of Louis Zamperini (Jack O’Connell) and what he went through should leave you shell shocked. This movie doesn’t have that effect, and that is where it falls short. The film is cast brilliantly, the cinematography is gorgeous, the screenplay (Coen Brothers) is well done, and I can’t even complain that much about Angelina Jolie’s directing. But when you put it all together, something doesn’t sit right with me.

Into the Woods had a great deal of expectations to live up to. A beloved musical featuring a well-known cast and director, this fairytale musical could easily have been a disappointment. Bryan’s Best and Worst of 2014 List!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 22nd, 2014

Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Wright_39_s_Top_10_Films_of_2014

I can’t believe how fast this year has gone by. 2014 was an interesting year to say the least, most of which was great. Movie-wise, I think 2014 had some excellent films filling its theaters, but of course it had some real stinkers too. Below is my list of the Best and Worst films of 2014 with some added categories down at the bottom. I believe this year I watched over 145 new films, theatrically speaking and it was very difficult to narrow them down from 25. After some chocolate snacks covered in marshmallow cream, I finally had a TOP 10. But when you talk about the Best movies, you have to mention the worst too. My list tends to be a tad bit different from others, but hey, I’m twisted. I highly encourage you to seek out these movies – good or bad and enjoy the rest of your year.

We are talking about music, songs, television episodes, interviews, Blu-rays, and more. So we hope this list entices you to see, hear, or purchase whatever film or album you have been hearing about. Film Review: ‘Annie’!!

Celebrity Sightings In New York City - December 2, 2013

Annie’s adage is, “you’re never fully dressed without a smile,” and you’re sure to be doing just that from beginning to end of this remake. As a child, I about wore out my VHS of the 1982 version, so you can imagine how skeptical I was going into this reboot. Like most of you old school Annie fans, I went in with a, “this better be good or else” attitude. It’s a good thing director Will Gluck’s version blew me out of the water, because I’m not really sure who I would have submitted my complaints to.

Jana’s Best/Worst of 2014!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 15th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

It’s been a big year for the entertainment world. Netflix’s initial push to bring movie-theater worthy films straight to streaming customers and bypassing the big screen altogether set off a chain of deals that will take those fresh releases and push them directly into homes allowing us to bypass a $15.00 soda, but denying us the $20.00 popcorn you can only get at the theater. Then came the deluge of series and movies being made for exclusive run with everyone from Netflix, Amazon to Crackle and everything in between. Top that off with the huge breach of privacy Sony experienced. New releases were flooded onto P2P sharing sites and private emails from the film company’s big wigs that show us how the infrastructure of Sony really works, not to mention what those involved really think of some of their superstars.

WWE: NXT Takeover Revolution Review!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 12th, 2014

NXT_REV_Photo_19-1489422147

It was a huge night for WWE’s developmental brand NXT. NXT Takeover: R Evolution, shown exclusively on the WWE Network (just $9.99 a month if the rumors are true) from Full Sail University in Orlando, FL, was everything a wrestling show should have and could have been. Four times a year,  the NXT Superstars are given the opportunity to showcase their talents live, and last night, they gave everything they had to entertain the fans. The pre show started with sad news as NXT Superstar, Corey Graves, announced his retirement from in ring competition. His reasons being medically based. Did that mean we would no longer see him, hell no, he also announced that he would be debuting that night as an NXT commentator! The energy of the evening was electric as the crowd took their seats and anxiously waited for the future to be showcased.

ABC’S ‘Irreversible’ Casts Justin Long!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 12th, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

justin-long-02

ABC has been in the process of trying to get ‘Irreversible‘ off the ground for a while now. First they cast David Schwimmer in the lead but have now re-cast that character with Justin Long. The series will have the feel of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm‘ and centers on Andy (Long) and Sarah. The eccentric and self-absorbed couple bring about their own misfortunes which will be amusing on our side. To add to the hilarity, the set up lends itself to freedom of the actors to improvise in part.

We are at the end of this ‘Hobbit‘ trilogy with ‘The Battle of the Five Armies‘. The last three years seem to have gone by fairly fast. It seems like yesterday when I was writing about Warner Bros. heading back to Middle Earth with the ‘Hobbit‘. I was super stoked about it, because I was such a huge fan of the ‘Lord of the Rings‘ trilogy. I think I saw each of those films five times in the theater, owned each version that came out on DVD and Blu-ray, and went back to see them when they were re-released. I just can’t get enough of the ‘LOTR‘ films. But shortly after the announcement that we were receiving a ‘Hobbit‘ film, things started going downhill.

Hot Tub Time Machine‘ (2010) was a brilliant walk down memory lane, of course that walk was in the most irreverent way possible, but it was glorious. John Cusack, Craig Robinson and Rob Corddry were seamless best friends, the friendship was believable, and didn’t feel like we were watching actors. I adored that film and still laugh uproariously when I re-watch it. A big part of what brought success with the first film is the relationship the three actors had with one another. Not trying to minimize Clark Duke’s part in any way, but he wasn’t as tight to the group as the others were.

Director Jean-Marc Vallee is becoming one of the finer filmmakers of this modern age. Even though his resume is a short one, each one of his films has been fantastic. Vallee is one of those directors who does not stick to one particular genre, but rather goes after different stories in different time periods and genres. And while he might not be as drastic as Stanley Kubrick in this fashion, the comparison is still there.

M.D.P. Here…

cm-punk-sitting

The toughest thing about being a wrestling fan is that some people just don’t get it. We can talk freely in this country about our favorite television shows, from “The Walking Dead” to “Burn Notice“, but as soon as someone mentions WWE at a dinner party with his fiance’s college friends, he’s a pariah.

Hi everyone, Bryan Here….

00314351

I had the extreme pleasure to sit down with actors Corey Feldman, Jamison Newlander, and Brooke McCarter and discuss their roles in the 1987 iconic vampire film ‘The Lost Boys‘. Feldman and Newlander of course play the Frog Brothers in the film and McCarter played the vampire Paul (the vampire who was killed when the dog jumped on him, causing him to fall in the tub.) These good people were in town for a horror film festival called Twisted Tails Film Festival. We discuss ‘The Lost Boys‘, Corey Haim, Michael Jackson, there favorite scenes in movies, ‘The Goonies 2‘, and much more. Enjoy.

We’ve written about this before on the site, and while I say, that no ‘Terminator‘ film can be good without James Cameron at the helm, this one might come close.

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 3rd, 2014

HI everyone, Bryan Here…

crowchur

After a long hard battle, we are finally getting that ‘Crow‘ remake we have been wanting for years. You can almost hear James O’Barr screaming now, right? Yes, ‘The Crow‘ is being remade by Relativity Studios. The original came out in 1994 and was directed by Alex Proyas and starred Brandon Lee, the son of Bruce Lee, who tragically and mysteriously died on the set of this film. There has been a few sequels after it, but none have lived up to the original.

We have also reported that Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg were attached to produce and write the script for this new television series. Well, good news has come. Fernando’s Review of ‘The Theory of Everything’!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Dec 2nd, 2014

Fernando M., Here…

the-theory-of-everything-toronto-film-festival

Biopics are a tricky thing.  Nine times out of ten, you’ll end up with something more suitable for a Lifetime or Hallmark channel movie.  This is especially true when you tackle a larger than life subject, someone with much more story than is capable of being captured in a 2 hour run time.  I am happy to report that “The Theory of Everything” lies in that rare category of a biopic done right.

Idris Elba Racing To The Small Screen!!!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 1st, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

idris-elba-ok

Idris Elba has a face that immediately calls to mind a number of characters and films. Maybe it’s BBC’s ‘Luther’, the ever-vigilant god Heimdall guarding Asgard in ‘Thor‘, ‘Prometheus‘, or ‘Pacific Rim‘, the point is, he makes everything memorable. This will be true when he toplines a documentary series about racing for Discovery Communications network.

Jean Claude Van Damme Returning To ‘Kickboxer’?!?!

by Red Zeppelbon on Dec 1st, 2014

Hey guys, Jana here,

PicMonkey Collage

Jean-Claude Van Damme is heading back to his roots. Well, at least as far back as 1989’s ‘Kickboxer‘. Van Damme starred as Kurt Sloan, the corner-man for his brother and U.S. kickboxing champion, Eric Sloan. Kurt witnesses Eric’s intentional paralyzation in the ring by Thailand champ Tong Po. Of course, Kurt vows revenge, as any good brother should. He finds a trainer, Zion, and meets Tong Po in the ring for the fight of his life. My favorite thing about this film, was a very young Van Damme, and the name Tong Po. The name is just fun to say. Tong Po!

Lauren Graham is amazing. Whether she’s Lorelai Gilmore (‘Gilmore Girls‘) or Sarah Braverman (‘Parenthood‘), hell even as Joan Baxter from ‘Bruce Almighty‘ or Maggie from ‘Because I Said So‘, I’ll watch her, and I’ll love her. Wash, rinse, repeat.  So naturally, I’m seventeen levels of excited that she is going to be starring in, and co-writing, a late-night host comedy from mega-successful Ellen DeGeneres & NBC.
