Hey everyone, Jana here,

Comic-Con isn’t a place where only huge bombs of information get dropped, it’s also chock-full of fans spreading rumors like the wildfires that all too often consume the San Diego area anyway. Seems like one of the biggest rumors surrounded the potential casting for a Marvel Studios property, ‘Doctor Strange‘. Fans have been dropping names like Tom Hardy, Jared Leto and Benedict Cumberbatch in mass conversations that branched out until at least a few of the names were being taken as gospel truth. I’ve got the answer, kids, and it’s NOT Cumberbatch.

Scott Derrickson is directing and Jon Spaihts is writing the script for the pic based on a first draft by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer. ‘Doctor Strange‘ came directly from the brilliant Stan Lee and Steve Ditko during the golden age of Marvel Comics in the early 60’s. All sources point to Joaquin Phoenix as being in talks to star as ‘Doctor Strange‘. If you take a look at Phoenix’s film history, it’s obvious he’s capable of the characteristics that make Doctor Strange….well, strange.

The source for my information says that it’s hard to find many leading men who do it better and commit to character the way he (Phoenix) does, but I disagree. I like Phoenix, no doubt about that, but I wouldn’t put him in the top 5 of male actors that can transform themselves to fit a role. The pinnacle of that list for me would be Daniel Day Lewis. The man’s method acting is second only to the man that originated method acting and perfecting it to an art form – Marlon Brando.

Here is a brief film synopsis, if you want to know more about Doctor Strange, by all means, read the comics! After his career is destroyed, a brilliant but arrogant surgeon gets a new lease on life when a sorcerer takes him under his wing and trains him to defend the world against evil.

¬†One thing is for sure, if Phoenix is going to be involved, he’s going to turn some heads while he does it. If there’s a way to tap into the quirk of a character and we’re talking about him playing ‘DOCTOR STRANGE’!!! Phoenix just may out-quirk this character, but all that remains to be seen on July 8, 2016 when the film is scheduled to debut.

Movie Quotes

[during a "Diversity Day" exercise]
Dwight Schrute:
Shalom, I'd like to apply for a loan.
Pam Beesly:
That's nice, Dwight.
Dwight Schrute:
OK, do me. Something stereotypical so I can get it really quick.
Pam Beesly:
OK, I like your food.
Dwight Schrute:
Uh, Outback Steakhouse, I'm Australian, mate!
Michael Scott:
Pam, come on, "I like your food," no, come on, stir the pot. Stir the melting pot, Pam! Let's do it, let's get ugly, let's get real.
Pam Beesly:
OK, if I have to do this, based on stereotypes that are totally untrue, that I do not agree with, you would maybe not be a very good driver.
Dwight Schrute:
[shocked] Aw man, am I a woman?
