Hi everyone, Bryan Here…

Netflix is in final talks with director/actor David Wain and writer/director Michael Showalter to revive their hit cult comedy film ‘Wet Hot American Summer‘, which is one of the funniest films of all time. Wain and Showalter are looking to make this into a prequel series, which will reunite the entire cast from the original film back in 2001, a lot of those actors being Oscar and Emmy winners now.

The cast included Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon, Christopher Meloni,Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, Bradley Cooper and Amy Poehler. The film only grossed $300,000 while in a few theaters back then, but has made a killing on home-video. Wain and Showalter will write for the series, and Universal is looking to add a bit of money to the project as well.

We reported a while ago that there was going to be some sort of sequel or prequel a while ago, but this is even better news than I could imagine. Showalter said, “We are working on a prequel, it’s six months to a year earlier than when the original movie was. Except the actors playing those characters are 10 years older.”

Well I can’t wait.
