Amazon.com Studios is adding to their original programming roster with ‘Really‘. The comedy is written by, directed by and starring Jay Chandrasekhar, director of ‘Super Troopers‘, ‘Beerfest’ and ‘Dukes of Hazzard’. Sarah Chalke (‘Scrubs’, ‘How I Met Your Mother’) has been selected as the female lead for the project being executive produced by Jamie Tarses (‘Mad Love’, ‘Franklin and Bash’).

The laugher revolves around a social and opinionated group of thirty-something friends in Chicago. It center on two of them, happily, messily married neurologist Jed (Chandrasekhar) and lawyer Lori (Chalke). Their group of friends includes Fred (Luka Jones) and his wife Joanna (Selma Blair), Mike (Travis Schuldt) and his wife Margaret (Lindsay Sloane) as well as Hayes (Hayes Macarthur) and his significant other Alison (Collette Wolfe).  The dynamic in the group changes for good when Jed accidentally catches Mike and Joanna in the throes of some sexy-time.

I really don’t want to be the kind of person that has no high expectations for a lot of new shows, but I know what I like and this isn’t it. One thing going against this show for me is the affair angle, it will end something, be it a friendship, a few marriages or as I predict, the series’ future. It’s hard to look at that from a comedic angle. Then there is the cast. Oh, the cast. Sarah Chalke and I don’t get along. OK, so maybe not in person, but with her performances on screen? Not so much. I don’t like her. Not that I was crazy about Lecy Goranson as the original Becky on ‘Roseanne‘, but I really didn’t like Chalke.

I grudgingly accepted her on ‘Scrubs‘ because honestly, she was a good match for JD. Come to think of it, I didn’t like her in ‘How I Met Your Mother‘ either. So maybe I just don’t like her. Next up for me to pick at is Selma Blair. Who ever decided to give Molly Shannon and Blair their own series with ‘Kath & Kim’ is probably not real proud of themselves, I watched 2 episodes and decided I had wasted enough of my time there. What you may not know about me, is I waste a LOT of time on TV shows. I will re-watch season after season of shows I have memorized. It was so not good. I’m just not hopeful for this show, maybe I’ll be proven wrong and it will end up with an Emmy or at least a Razzie.
