Film Review: ‘The Collection’

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 30th, 2012

Suzanne L. Here….

Looking for the perfect holiday movie to enjoy with the kids? Yeah, this is not it. The Collection is the story of a demented serial killer, The Collector, who truly enjoys killing and torturing in the most gruesome ways possible. If you are a fan of gore porns like the Saw series, you’ll want to check this out, but it’s not a truly scary movie.

Film Review: ‘Killing Them Softly’

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 30th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

‘Killing Them Softly’ not only is a brilliant and intelligent crime yarn, which will fulfill your violence, gore, and character levels, but also from beginning to end has a political and social undertone that makes this modern crime noir film much more than it looks to be. It’s been several years since Andrew Dominik made a film.  His last film was the impressive ‘The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford’ in which Brad Pitt starred in.  Well Pitt is back and even better than ever in ‘Killing Them Softly’.

‘Flight of the Navigator’ Remake Is Happening!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 29th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

I can’t believe I am writing this.  But, Disney is remaking their amazing 80’s time travel/alien film ‘Flight of the Navigator’.  The creative team behind the movie ‘Safety Not Guaranteed’ Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly will be developing the remake with Trevorrow to direct. The original 1986 film was directed by Randal Kleiser and starred a young Joey Cramer and co-starred Veronica Cartwright and Sarah Jessica Parker, with Paul Reubens as the voice of the robotic alien.

Hi, Bryan Here….

I seriously cannot wait for this film.  It looks amazing.  Here is the final trialer for the film, which shows tons of action and new material we haven’t seen in the other trailers.  ‘Django Unchained’ will open this Christmas.  Add to that, the soundtrack listing has been announced and as we have come to know over the years, Mr. Tarantino knows his music, and by the looks of this soundtrack, it’s going to be incredible. Can’t wait to get my hands on the vinyl.  Press release below with trailer and Soundtrack info.

Hi, Bryan Here….

It looks like the popular tv series ‘Spartacus’ on the Starz network is coming to and end with its upcoming 3rd season titled ‘Spartacus: War of the Damned’, however don’t fret too much as Starz is looking to make a spinoff series based on Julius Caesar.  The Julius Caesar project will be helmed by Robert Tapert, who was the head honcho on Spartacus and of course in cahoots with Sam Raimi on the ‘Evil Dead’ films.

Hi, Bryan Here….

I’m so psyched about this film.  Here is the first footage from Guillermo Del Toro’s epic film ‘Pacific Rim‘, which acts as sort of a viral marketing campaign for the movie.  This looks like a sort of CNN report warning civilians of giant Kaiju aliens.  And when I mean giant, I mean giant.  The film opens July 12, 2013, and I can’t wait.  Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Ron Perlman, Rinko Kikuchi and Charlie Day are in the film.

Cate Blanchett Might Turn Evil for ‘Cinderella’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 28th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Since there has been two live action ‘Snow White’ films over the past year, it only seems fitting that Disney is looking to revamp all of their animated classic titles into the live action realm.  Next up seems to be ‘Cinderella’, and let’s hope they are better than the ‘Snow White’ versions.  Actress Cate Blanchett looks to be joining the project as Lady Tremaine, the wicked stepmother.

Misty Here….

Huge news.  Maybe because most of us grew up with this show.  As we previously reported on Disney prepping a sequel series to’Boy Meets World’, Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel have officially signed on to reprise their roles as Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence in the sequel series ‘Girl Meets World’.  I’m so glad Savage and Fishel signed on, it just wouldn’t have been the same without them.

Misty Here….

The hit IFC series ‘Portlandia’ is hard at work on season 3, which stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein and from the looks of it, there is a treasure trove of big cameos.  The new third season will start January 4th, however, in the spirit of the hilarious series, there will be a pre-premiere on December 14th for a winter themed episode.

Film Review: ‘Hitchcock’

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 25th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

One of the most prolific and well respected directors of all time, Alfred Hitchcock, is once again in the spotlight more than 30 years after his death.  Alfred Hitchcock has been the centerpiece for two projects as of recent.  The first being HBO’s ‘The Girl’ and now the feature film ‘Hitchcock’.  Whereas HBO’s ‘The Girl’ follows Hitchcock’s film ‘The Birds’, ‘Hitchcock’ centers around ‘Psycho’.  I can safely say that ‘Hitchcock’ is one of my favorite films of the year and Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren both deserve awards for their portrayals of Mr. and Mrs. Hitchcock.

Film Review: ‘Life of Pi’

by Gumbercules9000 on Nov 25th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Ang Lee’s vision of Yann Martel’s 2001 novel, ‘Life of Pi’ is one of the most visually beautiful films I have seen in a long time. If this film was made back when the book came out, which was over ten years ago, the movie would not have been as beautiful as it was today, due to the technology advancements we’ve had in just ten short years.  ‘Life of Pi’ is one of the better 3D productions I have seen and if you choose to see this movie, see it in 3D.  ‘Life of Pi’ will appeal to all audiences and you will find yourself falling in love with Pi and a majestic Bengal tiger, even if ‘Life of Pi’ is good for only one or two viewings.

Seriously, do you think that sounds good?
Greg's Hospital Patient:
[flinching] No.
Greg Focker:
Really, because I think that pretty much sums up everything...
Greg's Hospital Patient:
[struggling] No!
