‘Ridiculous 6’ is the title of the next Adam Sandler film, which he will be producing under his Happy Madison production label.  It will be a comedy western this go around, with the title sort of resembling the 1960 epic western ‘The Magnificent Seven’.  We can only imagine what Sandler and his people will do with this .

Gary Moore “Blues For Jimi” Blu-Ray (REVIEW)

by NapkinArt on Oct 24th, 2012

Jonathon K. Here….

First off, you’re probably asking yourself “Who the $%@# is Gary Moore, and why is he playing Jimi Hendrix songs?!?” Sadly and admittedly, I had to ask myself the same thing. Until recently, I had never heard of Moore. As a rock n’ roll connoisseur, I should have been more familiar with a guitar bad ass such as he, but as I say time and time again…the music will find you when it’s supposed to.

The Polyphonic Spree Does Christmas

by NapkinArt on Oct 23rd, 2012

It might not yet be Halloween, and there are still a few days left to carve up that jack-o-lantern for the front porch, but The Polyphonic Spree is ready to ring in the Christmas spirit with or without you, with their first full length holiday album, “Holidaydream: Songs of the Holidays, Vol. 1”.

In the spirit of full disclosure, I have to say this preceding review may be partially biased, as I spent a good many months leading up to the album’s release, working on the album art, layout, pressing of vinyl, etc., so needless to say, I’m quite thrilled to see (and hear) the album’s existence.

Film Review: ‘Cloud Atlas’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 23rd, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

‘Cloud Atlas’ is not just a movie you view, it’s a full experience.  Only a few films can hold that title of being an experience and not just a film we casually watch on a weekend.  The Wachowski siblings and Tom Tykwer did a flawless job in adapting David Mitchell’s novel to the big screen.  I believe that ‘Cloud Atlas’ is a milestone in filmmaking with superb acting, an original way to tell multiple stories, and some of the best editing I have ever seen.  Not only is ‘Cloud Atlas’ a visual experience, but it is a spiritual experience, at least to me it was.  This 3 hour film is one of the better films of the past decade.

Film Review: ‘Paranormal Activity 4’!!!

Hi, Bryan Here…

I’ve been a fan of the previous three ‘Paranormal Activity’ films since they have been released.  Hell, I even own all of them on blu-ray, and yes, they do tend to scare me from time to time.  So you might say, I was excited for yet another chapter in the series.  ‘Paranormal Activity 4’ has some great ideas, a couple of very likable characters, and one hell of a truly terrifying ending.  Other than that, this is my least favorite chapter in the film franchise.

Film Review: ‘Alex Cross’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 18th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

‘Alex Cross’ was such a let down. James Patterson’s novel or novels about a clever cop did not adapt well to this particular film.  I feel like this movie could have been 100 times better than it was.  I think it was in the wrong hands from start to finish and it just completely imploded on itself.  Maybe this will make money in the box office due to Tyler Perry’s fan-base wanting to see something completely different from the actor than what he normally does, but I don’t see people giving a second though, or really even a first thought while watching this poorly made movie.

Ben Affleck’s ‘Argo’ is a brilliantly told film.  Affleck has come a long way since ‘Dazed and Confused’ and ‘Mallrats‘.  In my opinion, Affleck has gotten better with each directorial effort with ‘Gone Baby Gone’, ‘The Town’, and now ‘Argo’, which I think is his best yet.  Not only is ‘Argo’ a great film, it has a smart script, good acting, clever humor in a serious and tragic situation, and impeccable period detail that rivals AMC’s ‘Mad Men’.  I have no doubt that ‘Argo’ will be in my Top 10 list for this year.

Reilly) is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer), the “good guy” star of their game who always gets to save the day. But after decades doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he’s tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade through every generation of video games to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero. On his quest, he meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (Jane Lynch) from the first-person action game Hero’s Duty. But it’s the feisty misfit Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) from the candy-coated cart racing game, Sugar Rush, whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realize his dream and save the day before it’s too late?”    Enjoy the trailer.

Hi, Bryan Here….

The 20th Century Foc animation team and Blue Sky Studios are developing a big film franchise for Charles Schulz’s ‘Peanuts’.  The team behind ‘Ice Age’ has already set a release date for the first film, which will be Thanksgiving day in 2015, so we have a bit of time.  More than three years in fact.  That date celebrates the 65th anniversary of the original comic strip and the 50th anniversary of the ‘Charlie Brown Chistmas’ special according to Deadline.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Here is your first look at ‘Die Hard 5’.  You’d think this story would have nothing more to say, however, if it makes money, they’ll keep making more.  The last Die Hard film was pretty bad on multiple levels.  Let’s just hope that this new one is rated R and not PG-13 like the last one.  I do like the fact that John McClane’s son is is named Junior.  Let us know what you think of the trailer.  And thank to EW for the image.

Bugs Bunny Takes Over the Dallas Symphony Orchestra!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 7th, 2012

Claire, Here….

Last night, a new instrument accompanied the regular menagerie of Dallas Symphony Orchestral musicians as they performed the musical accompaniment to Looney Tunes. It was the intermittent, but well punctuated chorus of children’s laughter coming from the audience that made this performance timeless. The audience’s participation and audible reaction to the performance allowed us to connect intimately with the performers, and together, we created something greater than the sum of us combined. It was a worthy homage to the iconic works of Chuck Jones.

Bryan’s Review of ‘Frankenweeine’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 4th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

I was much impressed with Tim Burton’s remake of his own short-fil of the same title, ‘Frankenweenie’, about a boy who brings back to life his dead dog in the vein of Frankenstein.  Burton really has made much of any original film in the last ten years, besides ‘Big Fish’, and in my opinion, his remakes aren’t good, but with this one, it seemed like a return from the director I grew up with and learned to love, despite my loathing of his remake films.  ‘Frankenweenie’ was very entertaining and a lot of fun.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Sacha Baron Cohen, the man of many personalities, will be developing a feature film for Paramount called ‘The Lesbian’. This project is inspired by real life Cecil Chao, the Hong Kong billionaire who offered $65 million dollars to any guy who succeeded in marrying his lesbian daughter. This seems like the perfect project for Sacha Baron Cohen.

Bryan’s Review of ‘Taken 2’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 4th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Of course they would make a sequel to ‘Taken’.  The film made over $226 million dollars with a budget $200 million smaller than its gross.  Did they need to make a sequel?  No, they didn’t.  But, since the weird popularity of Liam Neeson as of recently, it was inevitable that the studio make a sequel.  Neeson has sort of taken on the persona that Chuck Norris or Nic Cage has of the past few years.  Meaning that now, Neeson is one true ultimate badass, that fights aliens, robots, kills every bad guy everywhere in the world, and is a jedi.  ‘Taken 2’ takes all of this power, and pretty much forces it into one film. As my friend said, “No, ‘Taken 2’ is not good, but on a Nic Cage scale, it’s a 9.  And I have to agree with that.

The Top Lucky 13 Horror Movie Soundtracks!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 4th, 2012

Lisa S. Here….

While compiling this list, I realized there was no way I could choose only 10 of the best horror soundtracks. So, because I thrive on being different, I am very pleased to bring you 13 of the choicest, rarest, and most kick ass horror soundtracks that I know of. Every one of the following are so good, it was really difficult to rate them from best to bestest.  Each and every one of these titles hails from the very late 70’s thru the 80’s…how incredibly biased of me.

I hope you enjoy it.

Bryan’s Review of ‘Perks of Being A Wallflower’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 4th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

‘The Perks of Being A Wallflower’ is hands down one of my favorite films of the year.  I haven’t seen such a genuine coming of age high school movie since the late John Hughes was making his films about being a teenager.  Director and writer Stephen Chbosky hit a home run with  ‘The Perks of Being A Wallflower’.  I haven’t fallen in love with characters like this since HBO’s ‘Six Feet Under’ was on television.  I did not want  ‘The Perks of Being A Wallflower’ to end.

Hi, Bryan Here….

I first heard about this film earlier this year when Gerard Butler told me that he was going to play a foul-mouthed leprechaun, and that one of his lines was, “I’m going to crawl up your mother’s cunt and start a fire.”  That instantly put this film at the top of my list.  This film has about a dozen writers and a dozen directors, and looks to be a sort sketch comedy film, but who knows? I can’t tell what this will be about.  But one thing is for sure, it looks fucking hilarious and has an AMAZING cast including, Sean William Scott, Halle Berry, Naomi Watts, Christopher Mintz Plasse (McLovin), Chloe Moretz, Liev Shreiber, Terrence Howard, Gerard Butler, Kate Winslet, Elizabeth Banks, Hugh Jackman, Kristen Bell, Emma Stone, Anna Faris, Richard Gere, Parick Warburton, Justin Long, Uma Thurman, Kate Bosworth, Kieran Culkin, Jack McBrayer, and much much more.

Hi, Bryan Here….

I’m sure most of you have heard or played the epic and fun as hell zombie video game ‘L4D’ (Left 4 Dead).  It seems like Simon Pegg, Shaun from ‘Shaun of the Dead’ has given his blessing to all of the gamers and Valve (the company behind L4D) the go ahead to develop a custom campaign in the game based on ‘Shaun of the Dead’.

Hi, Bryan Here….

Here’s your first look at Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in ‘The Lone Ranger’.  This project by Gore Verbinsky has had some trouble getting off the ground, but has resumed nicely.  This film has a budget of $215 million dollars, which is incredibly insane.  Depp plays Tonto and Hammer plays the Lone Ranger.  I know you all know who Depp is, but to refresh your memory, Hammer played the Winklevoss twins in ‘The Social Network’.  The film will release on July 3 of next year.  Your thoughts?

Elijah Wood Leaves The Shire To Make Horror Films!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 1st, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

Elijah Wood, most known for his role as Frodo, in the Lord of the Rings trilogy has teamed up with Josh C. Waller and Daniel Noah to form  an indie film company called ‘The Woodshed’.  The Woodshed will focus on horror/sci-fi films mostly according to  Deadline.  If this sounds weird to you, it shouldn’t be.  Elijah has been an avid horror and genre fan for a long time.  Don’t forget he was the sadistic killer and cannibal in ‘Sin City’, he was in the horror film ‘The Faculty’, and he is the sinister killer in the remake of ‘Maniac’.  His horror chops are very strong, plus he loves the genre.

Hi, Bryan Here….

‘The Exorcist’ director, William Friedkin is gearing up to direct a film called ‘I Am Wrath’, starring Nic Cage.  Not only did Friedkin direct ‘The Exorcist’, but he also gave us ‘To Live and Die in LA’, ‘The French Connection’, and the recent ‘Killer Joe’.  Back at the Toronto Film Festival, it was said that Cage was set to star in the film and that Friedkin was being courted by the studios to direct.  Today, the contracts are being drawn up for Friedkin to helm the project.

Seth MacFarlane Will Host the Oscars!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Oct 1st, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here….

The creator of Family Guy, American Dad, and The Cleveland Show will host the 85th Oscars.  That’s right folks, Seth MacFarlane, the director of the recent film ‘Ted’ will assume hosting duties.  I wonder if this is a ploy to get a younger audience to watch the Oscars, a ploy the  Academy has been trying to do for many years.  Remember that horror montage they did a few years ago at the Oscars, which failed miserably?  Or maybe, they love MacFarlane’s hosting duties on Comedy Central’s Roasts?  Which ever the reason, I expect some inappropriate and funny humor at the Oscars.
