May/2013

Hi, Bryan Here….

Good news, everyone.  Troma Entertainment has just released 150 of its movies for free on YouTube.  This includes films they just distribute, and not necessarily make.  Troma founder and director Lloyd Kaufman is a genius.  Kaufman definitely knows that the internet and free video helps the film business.  This is amazing news.

Suzanne’s Review of ‘Lawless’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 31st, 2012

Suzanne Here….

Based on a fictionalized version of true events, Lawless is a violent – very violent – tale of a family’s fight to sell moonshine on its own terms. With a star studded cast including Gary Oldman, Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, and Guy Pearce, the story of the Bondurant clan and their fight to maintain a way of life in Prohibition era Franklin County, VA will leave you cheering for the lawbreakers, cringing at the violence of organized crime, and wondering what exactly the Bondurant moonshine recipe was.

Hi, Bryan Here….

It’s been over 40 years since the original ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ by Tobe Hooper.  Well, in January, we are returning to Texas with an all new film called ‘Texas Chainsaw 3D’.  Lionsgate has unveiled a very cool poster of the new film, which seems to feature all the Letherface masks from the films.  I’m a sucker for these films. John Dugan, Marilyn Burns, Bill Mosely, and Gunnar Hansen will all be in the new film.  How cool is that?  Greg Nicotero will be doing the makeup FX, making this top notch.

Bryan’s Review of ‘The Possession’!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Aug 30th, 2012

Hi, Bryan Here…

Finally, the Catholics aren’t the only group getting into the demon possession genre.  There is a Judaic version now.  ’The Possession’ is basically ‘The Exorcist’, but much worse and instead of priests, there are rabbis.  The demon is known as a dybbuk and resides in a wooden box.  ’The Possession’ is partly based on a true story, but what horror movie isn’t these days.  With the help of Robert Tapert and Sam Raimi producing this little flick, I was hoping this would be truly terrifying.  Instead, I received a dull film with a couple of creepy moments that I forgot about as soon as I got home.  If I learned anything from ’The Possession’, it’s “Never buy an old mysterious box at a yard sale.”

Hi, Bryan Here….

Good news, everyone.  Entertainment One is partnering up with a couple of producers to develop two of Stanley Kubrick’s never-before-used screenplays.  Those screenplays are ‘Downslope’ and ‘God Fearing Man’.  It’s as if Kubrick is still making movies from the grave.  At least I hope they find someone to mimic his vision, but I’m sure that will never happen.  But any Kubrick is good.
