The writers had no idea how to build tension other than by having the two brothers yell at each other for no reason. And as with Smallville, if they were going to base their show in Kansas, they should have some idea of what that actually looks like. Perhaps my biggest disappointment comes from having named the main characters Sam and Dean and then not giving them an evil brother they didn't know about named Frank. Just my two cents.
