Eddie Murphy has confirmed that there will be no fourth installment in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise. However, he tells Rolling Stone that there may be a TV spinoff series.

Murphy wants to produce a show that would star the son of Axel Foley, the original Beverly Hills Cop. He will pop up now and again, but mostly leave the acting to the other characters. Foley will be the chief of police in Detroit while his son works at the same job his father left.

Murphy went on to say that he had been planning a fourth movie, but none of the scripts seemed right.

“They were trying to force the premise. If you have to force something, you shouldn’t be doing it,” he says.

We agree. Hey, Transformers, take note.
