HBO is one of the leading historical-movie distributors, and their new project is no exception. We all know the story of Bernie Madoff, the 70-year-old financier who was arrested after 20 years of screwing investors over with his Ponzi scheme. What a jerk.

Robert De Niro, while not a jerk, actually does bear a sort of resemblance to Madoff and will play the fu-I-mean-fraud in the screen adaptation of Diana Henrique’s book, The Wizard of Lies: Bernie Madoff and the Death of Trust. Reservation Road writer John Burnham Schwartz is set to write the film based on the book, plus some additional source material. With the star power currently being drawn in starting with the two, we can guess that the Madoff movie will be the quality we expect from HBO.
