Hi Bryan Here….

Boomstick Comics sat down with the real life Machine Gun Preacher himself, Sam Childers, to talk about the film ‘Machine Gun Preacher’ which is the true story on the the life of well…himself.  Needless to say, Childers is intense and endearing all at the same time.  I have no idea how he does it.  The fierce and great Childers discusses the differences from real life and the film and what he currently is doing now.  It is amazing.   Enjoy.  And also purchase his book below to find out more information about Childers’ ongoing story and how you can help out.

Hi Bryan Here….

Boomstick Comics sat down with Leonidas himself, Gerard Butler, to talk about his latest film ‘Machine Gun Preacher’ which is the true story on the the life of Sam Childers.  Butler plays Childers in the film perfectly.  The charming and hilarious Butler talks about how he prepared for his role as Sam Childers and what it was like working on the set.  he also gives us a little hint of some of his upcoming films including a short film directed by Brett Ratner where Butler plays two foul-mouthed leprechaun brothers.  He gives us one of his lines in character.  It was pure magic and hysterical.  Enjoy.  You might recognize Gerard from ‘300’, ”, ‘Phantom of the Opera’, and ‘Gamer’.

Hi Bryan Here….

At the beginning of the 20th century, China is in a state of crisis. The country is split into warring factions, the citizens are starving, and recent political reforms have made matters worse, not better. The ruling Qing Dynasty, led by a seven-year-old emperor, and his ruthless mother, Empress Dowager Longyu (Joan Chen) is completely out of touch after 250 years of unquestioned power. Huang Xing (Jackie Chan) has recently returned from Japan, where he has studied the art of modern warfare. When he finds his country falling apart, he feels he has no choice but to pick up the sword, leading an increasingly desperate series of violent rebellions against the powerful Qing Dynasty and the New Army- several with tragic consequences.   Jackie Chan’s 100th film.  This looks amazing.  Glad his 100th film wasn’t ‘Rush Hour’ 4.  Enjoy the Trailer.

Bryan Says ‘Moneyball’ Knocks It Out Of The Park!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 21st, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

‘Moneyball’ is one of the best written films of the year.  The cast and crew of this film hit a home run with this.  The acting, writing, filmmaking is all top notch here.  is a book by Michael Lewis, written in 2003 about the Oakland Athletics baseball team and Billy Beane which was there general manager. The book is about how the Oakland A’s used a math formula to construct a winning baseball team of “back up” ball players.  The reason was that the Oakland A’s had a strong disadvantage from anyone else in the league because of their financial situation.  By using this formula, the Oakland A’s won 20 straight games in a row breaking all records in baseball history.  This is a true story.

Bryan Enjoys The ‘Straw Dogs’ Remake!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 16th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

Once I heard of the news that Sam Peckinpah’s 1971 film ‘Straw Dogs’ was getting remade, I was completely skeptical.  It was going to take one hell of a cast a crew to fill Peckinpah’s and Dustin Hoffman’s shoes.  I honestly didn’t think it could be done, but alas I think Peckinpah would be proud of this modern day re-telling of his work from Gordon Williams’ novel, ‘The Siege of Trencher’s Farm’.  Now the remake has its flaws, but everything from the original is mostly seen in this remake.  For fans of the original or for people new to the story, I definitely think you will enjoy all the brutal and barbaric images portrayed in this remake of ‘Straw Dogs’.

It is 8 LPs of sheer 180g awesomeness, and if you don’t believe me, pick up a copy and see for yourself!

The Jimi Hendrix ‘Winterland’ box set hit the streets yesterday, and Amazon definitely has the best deal in town. Originally priced at $100 before its release you can now pick up this gem for about $60 if you act now!!! This price won’t last long!!! Dude, think about it…that’s like buying two records at an Indie store and getting the other six LPs for free. Hell yes. But wait, there’s more! By ordering from Amazon you will also receive an exclusive CD with additional unreleased material, which sounds incredible all on its own.

What is more criminal? This steal of the price or the fact these brilliantly sounding gems have been hidden away from the public all these years?!? It’s time your ears hear this material at a price that would even make your accountant happy. However, if vinyl isn’t your thing (and shame on you if it isn’t) the CD version is available at a great price, too.

Music has an uncanny effect on memory. It can direct a person to a specific place and time in their mind when a familiar song comes on the radio, when a nanosecond’s worth of a guitar lick is present in a television commercial, or when it’s heard in a movie. Music almost has same power as the sense of smell, triggering thoughts from so long ago.

In September 2001 I was just starting my sophomore year of college, not yet 20. I remember the weather in West Texas was pleasant; not too hot and not yet cool enough for a sweater. My roommate and I had just seen Crosby, Stills and Nash play a gig in Dallas the night of September 8, 2001, and like with most concerts it takes us several days to come off Cloud 9. I remember the fantastic greatest hits-like set from the show, and the big, burly roadie type gent three seats down from us that sat stoic for most of the show, until the opening licks of “Southern Cross” hit everyone’s ears, and this guy jumps out of his seat in excitement, as if his chair was electrified. I was still laughing about that moment the morning I rolled out of bed on September 11th. However, the moment I sat down to catch some tv before heading to class I was no longer laughing. You’ve no doubt heard this classic at some point in your lifetime, either on your parent’s oldies station or somewhere in a movie. It’s a great catchy tune from the 1960s that is infectious from the instantaneous pulse of the booming bass line to the drive of the sleek and captivating organ. There’s also no doubt that The Spencer Davis Group’s “Gimme Some Lovin'” song is one of the greatest jukebox hits to ever be recorded, and one that belongs in everyone’s extensive record collection. Bryan Takes One Hell Of A ‘Drive’!!! (A Movie Review)

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 6th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

‘Drive’ surprised the hell out of me.  I really didn’t know much about the film before I watched it other than the title and that it starred Ryan Gosling.  While I was watching the movie there were tons of times where I said “Holy Shit!” or I said “Fuuuck” or I said “Hoooly Fuckin’ Moses”!  I had no idea that ‘Drive’ was not only hardcore on every single level, but the character development and story line was some of the best I have seen all year.  ‘Drive’ is an insane thrill ride with a heart of gold.  I loved every psychotic moment of this film.  And I think you will to if you have the stomach for it.

Bryan Takes On ‘The Debt’!!! (A Movie Review)

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 2nd, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

‘The Debt’ was an amazing film.  It was based on the 2007 Israeli film of the same name.  Director John Madden (Shakespeare In Love) directed the remake which came out today.  For a film that was remade from a movie that came out less than four years ago, the remake really tops the original in this case. That’s very rare.  It’s not because of the big name actors or better special FX, but rather director John Madden decided to formulate a better story line between the characters that was non-existent in the original.  ‘The Debt’ is a fantastic thrill ride that was exciting around every corner.

‘Human Centipede 2’ is One Month Away!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on Sep 1st, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

That’s right folks.  Tom Six’s sequel to the instant cult classic is getting released on October 7th, 2011.  That’s about a month away.  I’m going to go ahead and move this film right to the top of my most anticipated movie releases of the year.  A few months ago we wrote about how this sequel already got banned in the UK for being insane….ermm…AWESOME which you can read about HERE.  So I am going to get psyched up for this release, by watching Human Centipede several times in a row and actually re-create an actual scene in Human Centipede 2, which is masturbate to the first film with sandpaper.  Can’t wait.  Going to be good.
