Legendary Pictures held a small panel today to promote a few of their upcoming films.  Most notably was Guillermo Del Toro’s much talked about ‘Pacific Rim’.  Director Idris Elbra said: “It is my duty to film the finest fucking monsters ever committed to the screen. And the greatest fucking robots ever committed to screen. That’s a pledge.”

Guillermo stated “Giant fucking monsters against giant fucking robots.” Also involved is the idea of having “incredibly huge things destroy little things.”

Now I have met Guillermo on several occasions.  My favorite one being the first time we talked which was at Chicago Wizard World before the first Hellboy film was released, and I asked him “What’s it been like for you making your favorite comic book in to a film?”  His reply was simple.  He said, “I feel like a huge fucking BONER right now” as he tensed his whole body and stood straight up.  We had a good laugh about that.

Guillermo and his director Idris are going to make this one hell of a film. I have no doubt this will kick all of our asses.  This movie is far off from being released.  Far off meaning summer of 2013.  But this is the official synopsis as of right now.  “Set in a future in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, the planet must band together and use highly advanced technology to eradicate the growing menace.”
