Mr Mex,

Pretty much agree with the review, though I thought Tucci's character was awesome (Cheers. No, you are having an operation tomorrow. I am not having an operation.) I thought the film was funny, exciting, well-done pretty much across the board. And then at the big sacrificial moment at the end...I didn't care. Contrast this with the beginning of Star Trek, which had a similar moment and makes me cry just thinking about it. The issue really was that the film did a great job setting up a story about character and didn't do anything with it. As a friend put it, his only test was the attractive blnod, and he kinda failed that one. It's a shame--this could have been great instead of just highly enjoyable and a great set up.

As to the mismatch between Cap'n and America today--that actually is his story. The character was retired after WWII ended and then brought back during the late 60s as a contrast to the anti-Americanism and cynicism of the day. I don't know how much of that gets in Avengers, but rest assured that that is the story in CA2.
