Dec/2017

Hi Bryan Here….

I am so delighted to be seeing this on DVD for the first time.  I love watching old cartoons from the 60’s.  And ‘Frankenstein Jr. and the Impossibles’ was so much fun.  There were only two seasons with less than 20 episodes in all, but the rock music/action hero cartoon packed each episode with tons of great fun.  It reminds me of ‘Fraggle Rock’ meets ‘Partridge Family’ in the vein of Hanna-Barbera.  This cartoon series also made for some of the most bizarre animated sequences I might have ever seen.  I witnessed a giraffe running upright on two legs with a gun and jumps into an art easel to disappear.  No, I was not on that acid you gave me last year.  Just loads of Dr. Pepper.

Hi Bryan Here….

Let me start this review by saying, LOL.  Growing up, whenever I used to hear Chuck Norris’ name, I would immediately think of a badass action star and a martial arts ninja.  Nowadays when I hear his name referenced, I always tend to laugh a bit.  Mainly from this whole pop culture icon status he has become in the form of being the ultimate badass who ever lived.  For example one of my favorite Chuck Norris-ims: “When Chuck Norris does push-ups, he pushes the world away.”  It’s quite amazing and hilarious how popular Norris has become in the last few years amongst the younger generation.

Hi Bryan Here…..

There is a new romantic comedy coming out later this year, and it looks like it will be the ultimate Romantic Comedy to ever come out.  Most romantic comedies are fairly awful with no point or anything redeemable about them.  There are exceptions to this.  See Notting Hill, Love Actually, Knocked Up, and Wall-E.  But this new ‘Green With Envy’ starring Amy Adams and Jason Segel looks like it will be far far better than anything else.  I for one am looking forward to this almost more than anything this year.

A Celebration of Friday the 13th In Horror!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 13th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

This is the sister “holiday” of Halloween in my book.  It’s all thanks to that wonderful killer mute character and that string of films that makes us all happy to throw back a bloody mary and watch horror films at midnight with friends and watch out for that boogeyman early on in the summer.  One of the reasons I love Jason Voorhees and the Friday the 13th films so much is that Jason never says anything which I think makes him much more creepier.  That silence is truly killer.   So in honor of Friday the 13th which comes maybe once or twice a year I have compiled some cool “behind the scenes” photos of the Friday the 13th films with some fun clips and some cool Friday the 13th sales.  ENJOY!!

Hi M. D. here…

The Ruby Review celebrated their one year anniversary Friday evening, April 29th at the Texas Theater in Oak Cliff. The theme was “Hollywood Burlesque”, including a lot of glitz and glam!

Legendary Tammi True and award-wining burlesque duo from Baltimore/NYC, Trixie Little and Evil Hate Monkey made appearances and engaged the audience thoroughly.

Live music by The Royal Rhythmaires was a nice addition before, during, and after the show!

Bryan Journeys Into Mystery With “Thor”!!! (A Review)

by Gumbercules9000 on May 8th, 2011

Hi Bryan Here…

The Almighty Thor is finally here.  Marvel’s next feature film in their line of super-hero films revving up for the huge epic “Avengers” film may surprise you.  Thor is great.  It’s very different from the past Marvel films, but different is very good.  Especially for a hero like Thor.  What makes Thor different from the other Marvel Super-Heroes in films is that Thor is not from Earth nor is he really a human.  He is a GOD.  And when I think of Thor my brain usually goes to the Greek Mythology place and to that Shakespearean universe.  So it was only too perfect that Shakespearean vet, Kenneth Branagh would be the director for this epic film of Thor.

Hi Bryan Here….

The Brothers Weinstein have tapped into remaking yet another classic.  This time it is the beloved Akira Kurosawa masterpiece “Seven Samurai” according to Variety.  Seven Samurai was a huge inspiration for several later films including “The Magnificent Seven”.  It seems that along with the Weinsteins, the Japanese Kurosawa production people will be producing the film as well.  But, it looks like this remake of “Seven Samurai” won’t feature any samurais at all and will be a modern tale of the original.

Hi Bryan Here….

This release of Abbott and Costello Meet Captain Kidd is just outstanding.  Over the years Abbott and Costello were on their adventures they managed to meet The Mummy, Frankenstein, and The Invisible Man ant not mention when they went to the planet Mars.  I think this particular film is one that fans and really all of us have been waiting for.  It’s one of the ultimate rare “grails” to the Abbott and Costello universe.  One of the many reasons being is that it stars Charles Laughton paying Captain Kidd which is just genius.

PURCHASE THE FILM HERE FOR ONLY $19.95!!!

by Gumbercules9000 on May 2nd, 2011

Hi Bryan Here….

So by now, we all know that President Obama ordered the badass assault on Osama Bin Laden this past week when a team of highly trained brutal ninja Navy Seals stormed a mansion and took out the terrorist leader.  Now considering all that intelligence, and all the weapons, the combat, the blood, and the headshot that killed Osama, this would make one BADASS film.  I’m thinking Expendables meets Commando.
