Hi Bryan Here…

When the Iphone 4 came out, it quickly become known that the video capability for the 4th genenration phone was superior to any other camera phone that was out.  And we began to see some short movies shot on the iphone 4 on youtube and various other sites.  Now, the director of “Oldboy” and “Thirst” has made a film entirely shot on the Iphone 4.

It is called “Paranmanjang” (Ups and Downs) and is a 30 minute fantasy horror short film directed by award winning filmmaker, Park Chan-Wook.

Park said:

From hunting for a film location, shooting auditions, to doing a documentary on the filming process, everything was shot with the . We went through all the same film-making processes except that the camera was small.

The Film was made partly with his brother and is said to be about:

…a fantastical tale that begins with a middle-aged man fishing one afternoon and then, hours later at night, catches the body of a woman. The panicked man tries to undo the intertwined fishing line, but he gets more and more entangled. He faints, then wakes up to find himself in the white clothes that the woman was wearing. The movie’s point of view then shifts to the woman and it becomes a tale of life and death from a traditional Korean point of view.

I really want to see this movie.  But sadly, I cannot at this time, for it is not playing anywhere online or in the USA.  But I have heard it is playing in Park’s home base in Korea at some cinemas, but not many.

But, since this is sort of an Iphone ad of sorts, I bet Apple will jump at this opportunity and maybe post this films somewhere shortly.

Let us hope.
